For how many years can I
receive free phone support on
my HP Server/HP Netserver?
You can receive free phone support for the Product Life of
your HP Server product. HP supports all HP Servers for a
full five years after the product’s obsolescence date.
What is the warranty
on HP internal accessories?
Internal accessories are HP products which have been
installed inside an HP Server/HP Netserver by you or by
the factory. Internal accessories include DIMMs,
processors, hot-swap hard disk drives, and PCI cards.
HP internal accessories carry a system-matching
warranty. This means that the accessory is serviced on-
site along with the HP Server/HP Netserver into which it
is installed. If the warranty period for the HP Server/HP
Netserver has expired, you can return the accessory to HP
for service for one year after its purchase.
If you are calling for support regarding an internal
accessory, please tell the agent that it is installed inside an
HP Server/HP Netserver.
Important Note: HP factory integrated third party parts
are included in the system-matching warranty.
What is the warranty
on HP external accessories?
External accessories carry their own warranties. External
accessories include peripherals such as printers, monitors,
and mass storage devices such as HP Rack Storage and
HP SureStore products.
Talk to your authorized reseller for more information
about the warranty on your external accessories.
When does my warranty
coverage start?
The warranty period officially begins on the day that HP
delivers your HP Server/HP Netserver.

How will my HP Server/HP
Netserver be restored if I have
a hardware failure?
In the event that a technician is sent to your site, they will
physically replace the defective part and reconnect the
power and data cables. We recommend that you keep
backups of your software and data, as you are responsible
for restoring the software, including the network
operating system, applications, and data. You are also
responsible for system configurations, including hard
drive partitioning and setting RAID levels.
How can I upgrade my HP
Server/HP Netserver
warranty?
HP Supportpack – provides enhanced service such as
faster response time or around-the-clock support. More

Use all of the information HP makes available on CD-
ROM and over the World Wide Web. When you need
further help:

bios and firmware are up to date.

administrator available for consultation and to run HP-
supplied configuration and diagnostic programs as

What should I have ready
before I call for service?
Before you call, have this information ready:

What should I expect when I
call for service?
Service calls follow this process:
1. The call agent will ask questions, may ask you to run
HP-supplied configuration and diagnostic programs,
and will attempt to resolve the problem over the
phone.
2. If a problem can be solved with an easily installed
part, HP will ship the required part and provide
installation instructions.
3. If the problem cannot be resolved over the phone, HP
will dispatch a technician to your site.
How long will it take for
someone to show up at my
site?
The response time depends on the level of support that
you purchased with your HP Server/HP Netserver. For
example, if your Server has an on-site warranty , and an
HP call agent determines that it is necessary to send a
technician to your site, HP will strive to do so by the next
business day. However, on-site service may be affected
by your site's distance from an HP office. The following
table outlines HP's response time goals based on distance.

On-site service is restricted or unavailable in certain

Note that HP SupportPacks and other enhanced services

Can I accidentally void my HP
Server/HP Netserver
warranty?
You cannot accidentally void your HP Server/HP
Netserver warranty. HP warranty covers on-site visits
caused by HP factory integrated third-party products that
are internal but not external to your HP Server/HP
Netserver. HP reserves the right to charge for services
where the cause of the error is found to be a non-certified
third-party product. In addition, HP reserves the right to
charge for resolving problems caused by untrained non-
HP personnel who have serviced your computer
equipment.
What is the warranty on
replacement parts used
to repair my HP Server/HP
Netserver?
HP replacement parts assume the remaining warranty of
the parts they replace.
How do I get a
replacement part?
When you call for assistance, and an HP representative
determines that a replacement part needs to be shipped to
you, simply follow the instructions you are given. HP will
prepay shipping charges, duty, and taxes for components
returned to HP.
What happens to defective
parts that are removed
from my HP Server/HP
Netserver?
When parts are exchanged during a repair, the removed
parts become the property of HP. When you receive a
replacement part via courier (such as Express Exchange),
you must return the removed part to HP within 10
business days. You will be charged for any part not
returned within that time period.
What is the warranty on
software installed on my HP
Server/HP Netserver?
HP warrants for NINETY (90) DAYS from the date of
purchase that all HP pre-installed software will execute
its programming instructions when all files are properly
installed. During the 90-day warranty period, in the event
that software fails to execute its programming
instructions, HP will provide customers with remote
assistance (by phone and/or by email) for installation and
configuration.

HP warrants all the software media that comes with your
HP Server/HP Netserver for NINETY (90) DAYS from
the date of purchase. During the 90-day warranty period,
if the software fails to install and/or configure your HP
Server/HP Netserver due to the software media,
customer's remedy will be either (1) a replacement, or (2)
a refund of the purchase price (license fee) if HP is unable
to replace the media within 10 business days upon return
of the product and all copies of software as well as
installation instructions.
HP does not warrant customer-installed third-party
software. HP assumes no responsibility for the use or
reliability of HP software on equipment that is not
furnished by HP.
What is not covered by this
warranty?
Your HP Server/HP Netserver warranty does not cover
the following:
·Products purchased from anyone other than HP or an
authorized HP reseller
· Non-HP products installed by unauthorized entities
·Consumables, such as batteries
·Customer-installed third-party software
·Routine cleaning, or normal cosmetic and mechanical
wear
·Damage caused by misuse, abuse, or neglect
·Damage caused by parts that were not manufactured or
sold by HP
·Damage caused when warranted parts were repaired or
replaced by an organization other than HP or by a
service provider not authorized by HP
Can I predict when my HP
Netserver is going to have a
problem?
During the warranty period of the HP Netserver system
processor unit, selected HP hardware components
monitored by HP TopTools for Servers are eligible for the
HP Pre-Failure Warranty. If a pre-established threshold is
exceeded and your system has a warranty with parts
coverage, HP will provide a new or refurbished part at no
charge so that you may replace it in advance of failure.

Is my warranty still valid
if I ship my HP Server/HP
Netserver into or out of the
country?
Your HP Server/HP Netserver will receive the standard
warranty in the country of purchase. If you move your
Server to another country where HP has established legal
subsidiaries or International Distributors, you will receive
the destination country standard warranty.
Warranty coverage is provided in the destination country
if the product has been marketed by HP in that country
and may be subject to local government restrictions. HP’s
standard warranty offerings are subordinate to all local
government laws.
Notice for Consumers in
Australia
The warranty terms contained in the enclosed manual(s)
or any other warranty statement enclosed with this
product, except to the extent lawfully permitted, do not
exclude, restrict, or modify, and are in addition to,
statutory rights implied by the Trade Practices Act 1974
or any corresponding state or territory legislation
applicable to the sale of this product to you. If you have

Hewlett-Packard Server/Netserver Limited Warranty
HP warrants to you, the end-user Customer, that HP Server/HP Netserver hardware components
and supplies will be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use after the date
of purchase for the period specified in this booklet titled Warranty & Service/Support Booklet. If
HP or Authorized Reseller receives notice of such defects during the warranty period, HP or
Authorized Reseller will, at its option, either repair or replace products that prove to be defective.
Replacement parts may be new or equivalent in performance to new.
Should HP or Authorized Reseller be unable to repair or replace the hardware or accessory within
10 business days, Customer's alternate remedy will be a refund of the purchase price upon return of
the HP Server/HP Netserver.
Hewlett-Packard Hardware Accessories Limited Warranty
An HP Server/HP Netserver Hardware Accessory is an HP hardware product, specifically
designated for use with HP Servers/HP Netservers, that is added on or integrated into an HP
Server/HP Netserver in order to provide higher performance, capacity, or increased capability.
Upon installation inside an HP Server/HP Netserver, the HP Server/HP Netserver Hardware
Accessory carries a one-year Return-to-HP warranty or the remainder of the warranty period for the
original HP Server/HP Netserver in which it is installed, whichever is longer.
HP SureStore and Colorado-branded internal tape drives are covered under a replacement warranty
included with the product. HP products external to the system processor unit, such as external rack
or storage subsystems, printers, or other peripherals, are covered by the applicable warranty for
those products.
HP Server/HP Netserver Software Limited Warranty
This HP Software Limited Warranty shall cover all software, including third-party
operating system and application software, that is provided to you as part of the HP
Server/HP Netserver. In case of conflict between HP and non-HP warranty terms these HP
warranty terms shall prevail.
HP Software Warranty
HP warrants for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase that all pre-installed HP
software will execute its programming instructions when all files are properly installed. HP does
not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted or error free. In the event HP software fails to
execute its programming instructions during the warranty period, the customer's remedy will be
either (1) replacement of the HP software or (2) a refund upon return of the product and all copies
of software as well as installation instructions.

HP Factory Installed Third-party Operating System and Application Software
HP warrants for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of the purchase the installation and
configuration of the HP factory installed third-party operating system and application software. HP
does not warrant that the functionality of the third-party operating system and software will be
uninterrupted or error free. During the 90-day warranty period, in the event software fails to
execute its programming instructions during the installation and/or configuration, HP will provide
customers with remote assistance(by phone and/or by email) for installation and configuration.
Usage and consulting related support are not covered under this warranty and may be obtained at
additional expense.
Software Product Limited Replacement Warranty
The HP Software Product Limited Replacement Warranty will apply to all Software that is
provided to you by HP as part of the HP Server/HP Netserver, such as HP Utility Software, for the
90-day period specified below. This warranty will also cover third-party operating system software
and any other application software that may be HP factory pre-installed. This HP Software Product
Limited Replacement Warranty will supersede any non-HP software warranty terms that may be
found in any documentation or other materials contained in the computer product packaging with
respect to covered software.
Software That Is Not Covered
HP does not warrant non-HP factory installed third-party software or documentation that is not
factory installed/distributed by HP. These products may be warranted by the third party in
accordance with the third-party warranty statement accompanying the product. On-site visits
caused by non-HP factory installed/distributed third-party software products are subject to standard
per-incident travel and labor charges.
90-day Limited Software Replacement Warranty
HP warrants for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of the purchase that the Software will
execute its programming instructions when all files are properly installed. HP does not warrant that
the software will be uninterrupted or error free. In the event that this software product fails to
execute its programming instructions during the warranty period, Customer’s remedy will be to
return the media to HP for a replacement. Should HP be unable to replace the media within 10
business days , Customer’s alternate remedy will be a refund of the purchase price (license fee)
upon return of the product and all copies.
Notice of Warranty Claims
All warranty claims must be made during the applicable warranty period. Any claim made after that
time will not be eligible for warranty service but may be serviced under a separate HP support
contract covering the product.

HP Software License Agreement
Your HP Product Contains Software Programs
Carefully read this license agreement and limited warranty statement before proceeding to operate
this equipment. Rights in the software are offered only on the condition that the customer agrees to
all terms and conditions of the license agreement. Proceeding to operate the equipment indicates
your acceptance of these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with the terms of the license
agreement, you must now either remove the software from your hard disk drive or destroy the
master diskettes or return the complete HP product and software for a full refund. Proceeding with
configuration signifies your acceptance of the license terms.
Unless otherwise stated below, this HP software license agreement shall govern the use of all
software that is provided to you as part of the HP product and shall supersede any other software
warranty statement that may be included in this HP product or may be found online. The following
License Terms govern the use of the HP software:
Use
Customer may use the software on any one HP product. Customer may not network the software or
otherwise use it on more than one HP product. Customer may not reverse assemble or de-compile
the software unless authorized by law.
Copies and adaptations
Customer may make copies or adaptations of the software (a) for archival purposes or (b) when
copying or adaptation is an essential step in the use of the software with an HP product so long as
the copies and adaptations are used in no other manner.
Ownership
Customer agrees that he/she does not have any title or ownership of the software, other than
ownership of the physical media. Customer acknowledges and agrees that the software is
copyrighted and protected under the copyright laws. Customer acknowledges and agrees that the
software may have been developed by a third party software supplier named in the copyright
notices included with the software, who shall be authorized to hold the Customer responsible for
any copyright infringement or violation of this Agreement.
Product Recovery CD-ROM (if provided)
If your HP product was shipped with a product recovery CD-ROM:
· The product recovery CD-ROM and/or support utility software may only be used for restoring
the hard disk of the HP product with which the product recovery CD-ROM was originally
provided.
· The use of any operating system software by a third party contained in any such product
recovery CD-ROM shall be governed by the third party License Agreement.

Transfer of Rights in Software
Customer may transfer rights in the software to a third party only as part of the transfer of all rights
and only if customer obtains the prior agreement of the third party to be bound by the terms of this
License Agreement. Upon such a transfer, customer agrees that his/her rights in the software are
terminated and that he/she will either destroy his/her copies and adaptations or deliver them to the
third party.
Sublicensing and Distribution
Customer may not lease, sublicense the software or distribute copies or adaptations of the software
to the public in physical media or by telecommunication without the prior written consent of
Hewlett-Packard.
Termination
Hewlett-Packard may terminate this software license for failure to comply with any of these terms
provided Hewlett-Packard has requested Customer to cure the failure and Customer has failed to do
so within thirty (30) days of such notice.
Updates and Upgrades
Customer agrees that the software does not include updates and upgrades which may be available
from Hewlett-Packard under a separate support agreement.
Export Clause
Customer agrees not to export or re-export the software or any copy or adaptation in violation of
the U.S. Export Administration regulations or other applicable regulation.
HP Factory Installed Third-party Operating System and Application Software
Third-party operating system and application software are licensed to you under the appropriate
vender license agreement.
U.S. Government Restricted Rights
Use, duplication, or disclosure is subject to HP standard commercial license terms and for non-
DOD Departments and Agencies of the U.S. Government, the restrictions set forth in FAR 52.227-

Customer further agrees that Software is delivered and licensed as "Commercial computer
software" as defined in DFARS 252-227-7014 (June 1995), or as a "commercial item" as defined in
FAR 2.101(a), or as "Restricted computer software" as defined in FAR 52-227-19 (or any
equivalent agency regulation or contract clause), whichever is applicable. The Customer agrees that
it has only those rights provided for such Software by the applicable FAR or DFARS clause or the
HP standard software agreement for the product involved.

Limitation of Warranty
HP does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of an HP Server/HP Netserver.
If the customer transfers an HP Server/HP Netserver to another user, warranty service is available
to that user for the remainder of the warranty period. Consumables, such as batteries, have no
warranty.
The above warranties will not apply to products from which serial numbers have been removed or
to defects resulting from misuse (including operation of HP Servers without covers and incorrect
input voltage), unauthorized modification, operation or storage outside the environmental
specifications for the product, in-transit damage, improper maintenance, or defects resulting from
use of third-party software, accessories, media, supplies, consumables, or such items not designed
for use with the product. The HP Software Product Limited Warranty does not apply to software
used with products not covered by any of the HP limited warranties offered as part of your
purchase of an HP Server product.
TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LOCAL LAW, THE ABOVE WARRANTIES ARE
EXCLUSIVE AND NO OTHER WARRANTY OR CONDITION, WHETHER WRITTEN
OR ORAL, IS EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED AND HP SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY
IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY,
SATISFACTORY QUALITY, AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Some Countries, states or provinces do not allow limitations on the duration of an implied
warranty, so the above limitation or exclusion might not apply to you. The warranty gives
you specific legal rights and you might also have other rights that vary from country to
country, state to state or province to province.
Limitation of liability and Remedies. In no event will HP or its affiliates, subcontractors, or
suppliers be liable for any of the following:
1. Damages for loss of data, or software restoration;
2. Damages relating to Customer's procurement of substitute products or services (i.e., “cost of
cover”);
3. Incidental, special, or consequential damages (including lost profits, loss of use, Customer
downtime, cost of data recovery/re-creation), even if HP is informed of their possibility;
4. Third-party claims against Customer for losses or damages.
HP Servers/HP Netservers are not specifically designed, manufactured or intended for sale as parts,
components or assemblies for the planning, construction, maintenance, or direct operation of a
nuclear facility. Customer is solely liable if Products or Support purchased by Customer are used
for these applications.
HP will be liable for damage to tangible property per incident up to the limit of U.S.$1,000,000 or
the actual amount paid for the product, whichever is less, that is the subject of the claim, and for
damages for bodily injury or death, to the extent that all such damages are determined by a court of
competent jurisdiction to have been directly caused by a defective HP product.

TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LOCAL LAW, THE REMEDIES IN THIS
WARRANTY STATEMENT ARE CUSTOMER'S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDIES.
EXCEPT AS INDICATED ABOVE, IN NO EVENT WILL HP OR ITS SUPPLIERS BE
LIABLE FOR LOSS OF DATA OR FOR DIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL,
CONSEQUENTIAL (INCLUDING LOST PROFIT OR DATA), OR OTHER DAMAGE,
WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE.
Some countries, states or provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or
consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
THE WARRANTY TERMS CONTAINED HERE, EXCEPT TO THE EXTENT
LAWFULLY PERMITTED, DO NOT EXCLUDE, RESTRICT OR MODIFY AND ARE IN
ADDITION TO THE MANDATORY STATUTORY RIGHTS APPLICABLE TO THE
SALE OF THIS PRODUCT TO YOU.
