Applications
The following guidelines will help you achieve optimum sound wherever
you use your HPA loudspeakers:
*Raise the speakers as high as possible.
For best results try to get the high frequency horn at least 2 to 4 feet
above the heads of the audience. If the speakers are too low, the people
in the back of the audience will not receive the best quality sound.
*Place the speakers between the microphones and the audience.
Feedback occurs when the microphones pick up sound from the speak-
ers and “feed” the sound back through the sound system. If space is lim-
ited, point the speakers away from the microphones to reduce feedback.
*Locate the speakers away from turntables.
Low-frequency feedback occurs when the output of the speaker is picked
up by the tone arm of the turntable and is re-amplified. A heavy, solid turn-
table base and shock mounting can also reduce this type of feedback in DJ
applications.

Applications
*Use more speakers in large or highly reverberant spaces.
Spreading speakers throughout these spaces will produce much better
sound than trying to compensate with loudness level or equalization. For
very long distances, the use of another set of speakers with time delay is
recommended.
*Stand speakers upright for PA - Tilt the speakers back on the side
for stage monitoring. Upright stance provides even coverage over a wide
area.
*SA speakers are also designed with two slanted positions for stage
monitoring applications.

Using the suspension points
CAUTION: Suspension of SA speakers should be done by qualified
persons. following safe rigging standards and practices. Unsafe mounting
or overhead suspension of any heavy load can result in serious injury and
equipment damage.
CAUTION: When suspending this product carefully follow HPA instruc-
tions and local ordinances. Do not attempt to use unless you have read
and understood all instructions including the HPA User’s Guide.
CAUTION: Do not suspend speaker from pull-back point.
Before suspending the system, inspect all components involved for
cracks, deformations, corrosion and/or missing or damaged parts that
could reduce strength and safety of the installation.
1. Remove suspension point caps
2. Insert load rated shoulder eyebolt with washer and tighten appropri-
ately
Never suspend more than one SA system from it’s suspension points.

AC Mains
Connect AC power to the IEC socket on the
back of the amplifier by locating the IEC con-
nector-end of the AC power cord and inserting
it fully into the IEC inlet on the power amplifier
module.
NOTE: Turn off the AC power switch before
connecting AC power.
Use only the power cable that is correct for your location.
Power Switch
Push in on the top of the rocker switch to apply AC mains power to the
powered loudspeaker. Push in on the bottom of the rocker switch to turn
the powered loudspeaker off.
Rear LED POWER Indicator
The blue LED POWER indicator on the rear panel will illuminate when
the AC Power switch is in the “ON” position, theAC mains power cord
is connected properly, and the AC mains are functioning properly. If the
rear LED POWER indicator does not illuminate when the Power switch is
placed in the “on” position during the first 5 minutes of power being ap-
plied, verify the AC mains line cord is properly attached to the loudspeak-
er and plugged into the AC outlet. Verify the outlet is functioning properly.

Channel B Gain
Input Connections
The SA series are designed to accept MIC Level and Line Level inputs
with several different connectors. There are three input connection points
on the input panel. Channel A will accept MIC or Line Level inputs by
connecting a male XLR cable or a male 1/4” phone cable (either TS or
TRS type may be used).
For MIC Level, the MIC/LINE selector switch must be in the “MIC” posi-
tion. When the selector switch is in the MIC position, activating the MIC
Pre-amp. The MIC setting should only be used if a microphone is con-
nected directly to the MIC/LINE input without phantom power.
The LINE setting should be used for most other audio inputs. Gain for
signal delivered on the Channel A XLR/1/4” combination jack is set using
the Channel A Gain knob. This control sets the sensitivity of Channel A,
and thereby the amount of signal sent to power amplifier and, in turn to
the loudspeaker components. It also sets the amount of signal sent to the
Post-Gain Line Output.
Channel B will accept Line Level input only, by connecting a male 1/4”
phone cable (either TS or TRS type may be used) or a pair of RCA cables.

that performs many functions.
These functions include Low cut, Low Pass Filter, and a number of propri-
etary features.
