Keep the equipment clean - you will find this less of a
chore if you clean it regularly, rather than wait until the end
of the hire period.
When not in use, store the equipment somewhere
clean, dry and safe from thieves. Protect this
equipment from frost and freezing conditions.
Stop the pressure washer and depressurise the
system.
Disconnect the hose from the pressure washer then
drain out any water it may contain.
Close the extension tubes fully then give the unit a
final clean up ready for return, to your local HSS Hire
Shop.
FINISHING OFF
For advice on the safety and suitability of this equipment
contact your local HSS Hire Shop.
There is a serious risk of personal injury if you do not
follow all instructions laid down in this guide.
The hirer has a responsibility to ensure that all necessary
risk assessments have been completed prior to the use
of this equipment.
This equipment should only be used by an operator
who has been deemed competent to do so by
his/her employer.
This equipment should be used by an able bodied,
competent adult who has read and understood these
instructions. Anyone with either a temporary or permanent
disability, should seek expert advice before using it.
Keep children, animals and bystanders away from
the work area. Cordon off a NO GO area using either
cones, barriers or tape, available for hire from your local
HSS Hire Shop.
Never use this equipment if you are ill,
feeling tired, or under the influence of
alcohol or drugs.
Safety goggles MUST be worn by everyone in
the work area.
Wear practical, waterproof protective
clothing, gloves and footwear. Avoid
loose garments and jewellery that could catch in moving
parts, tie back long hair.
Pressure washing equipment can cause serious
injury, so take care. Never point the spray lance at
anyone and always engage the trigger safety lock
when not actually washing.
Never direct the spray at or near anything electrical.
Take care where you lay hoses. Avoid running them
where there is a risk of someone tripping over them.
Take all necessary precautions to protect yourself
and others against the possibility of contracting
infectious diseases in your work environment.
Never lift or move this equipment by its hose.
Ensure the work area is well lit and ventilated, if in
doubt, ask about lighting and ventilation equipment at
your local HSS Hire Shop.
Make sure that everyone is warned of what you are
doing.
Watch your footing, only work on firm, level ground.
Check the condition of the equipment before use. If
it shows signs of damage or excessive wear, return it to
your local HSS Hire Shop.
The HSS Gutter Cleaning Attachment Kit is designed
to run from a pressure washer with a maximum
outlet pressure of 3000 psi. DO NOT use a pressure
washer with an output rated at more than 3000 psi.
If in doubt contact your local HSS Hire Shop for advice.
Screw the end of the pressure hose onto the outlet
of your pressure washer, finger tight.
Extend the gutter cleaner to the required length,
start with the top section so that you keep as much of the
units weight at the trigger end.
Loosen the top lock collar (turn anticlockwise) extend
the top section as required (or to its maximum) then
relock. Repeat for the remaining sections as necessary.
Place the unit carefully on the ground ready to start
the pressure washer.
Follow all instructions supplied with the pressure
washer, including flushing the system before running the
pump (if applicable).
If you have any doubts about the operation or
compatibility of your pressure washer, DO NOT USE THE
EQUIPMENT contact your local HSS Hire Shop for advice.
Start the pressure washer then raise the gutter
cleaner.
Attach the units clip to the support belts clip then
raise the unit placing the hook shape nozzle
assembly over and into the gutter.
During use, the operator
may be rained upon with
debris and water so the use
of Personal Protective
Equipment (goggles for
example) is most important.
To activate the unit, release
the lances trigger lock bar
and gently squeeze the
trigger.
Be prepared for the unit to
kick as the water first flows.
Start with the nozzles
hooked into the gutter but
held slightly off the gutter
surface. Squeeze the trigger
and allow the unit to build up
to pressure.
Slowly move along the gutter in one direction.
Depending upon the results, try altering the delivery
pressure at the pump.
Note that the unit is not suitable if a detergent is
to be sprayed, contact your local HSS Hire Shop for
advice.
Never push the equipment beyond its design limits.
If it will not do what you want with reasonable ease and
speed, assume you have the wrong tool for the job.
Contact your local HSS Hire Shop for advice.
Handle hoses with care. Never run them over sharp
edges or anywhere else that exposes them to the risk of
damage.
Lock the lances’ trigger OFF using the trigger lock bar
(see illustration).
The unit is supplied with a support belt and this must
be worn by the operator. Clip the main belt around your
waist then bring the shoulder strap over to the front, clipping
it into the buckle on the belt. Adjust to fit as necessary.
