When the boat is movin , water depth may chan e too quickly to
allow time for you to react. Always operate the boat at very slow
speeds if you suspect shallow water or submer ed objects.

overnment charts, not to replace them. Only official
overnment charts and notices to mariners contain all of the
current information needed for the safety of navi ation, and the

files (waypoints, routes, tracks, roups, recordin s, etc.) that

slot cover open. The slot cover should always be closed to
prevent water dama e to the unit.
WARNING! Do not travel at hi h speed with the unit cover
installed on the HELIX 5 or HELIX 7 control head. Remove the
unit cover before travelin at speeds above 20 mph.
WARNING! You are responsible for the safe and prudent
operation of your vessel. We have desi ned i-Pilot Link to be an
accurate and reliable tool that will enhance boat operation and
improve your ability to catch fish. This product does not relieve

approved accessories with your Minn Kota motor, such as this
i-Pilot Link system. Usin non-approved accessories includin
to mount or control your motor may cause dama e, unexpected
motor operation and injury. Be sure to use the product and
approved accessories, includin remotes, safely and in the
manner directed to avoid accidental or unexpected motor
operation. Keep all factory installed parts in place includin
motor and accessory covers, enclosures and uards.
WARNING! Be sure to know how to power the motor on and off,
and always be alert for unexpected motor movement, such as a
turnin propeller. Read this manual and the i-Pil t Link Owner’s
Manual for details.
WARNING! Due to safety reasons, the i-PIlot Link will not en a e
a position farther than 1/4 mile away.
CAUTION! The i-Pilot Link uses a ma netic compass to detect
direction of travel. The compass can be adversely affected by
ma nets or lar e, ferrous metal objects near (within 24” of) the
trollin motor control head. See the i-Pil t Link Owner’s Manual
for details.
Obstructions on the propeller may cause excessive vibration of
the motor head. This vibration can cause the compass to wander
and erratic steerin to occur. Clear the obstruction to return the
motor and i-Pilot Link system to normal operation. See your
i-Pil t Link Owner’s Manual for details.

NOTE: The cable should be routed throu h an established routin system on the boat, in an area
with minimal interference. Inspect the selected route carefully to ensure that there are no sharp

its traditional Humminbird navigation f atur s.
NOTE: If i-Pilot Link is connected durin navi ation, navi ation will automatically be canceled.

Turn on Auto pload Data

NOTE: If there is not enou h available memory space on the control head, an error messa e will display and data will not be
transferred until more space is created on the HELIX control head.

4|Turn on/off Prop Auto On
When Prop Auto On is turned on, th i-Pilot Link will start th s l ct d navigation mod as soon as it is s l ct d. Th prop ll r will
turn on at th curr nt sp d s tting. If th Prop Auto On m nu is turn d on, but th prop ll r is not turning, th sp d might b s t
to 0. S Pr peller C ntr ls for mor information.
When Prop Auto On is turned off, you must start th prop ll r manually ach tim you s l ct an i-Pilot Link navigation mod .
How v r, this m nu do s not apply to Spot-Locks and Cruis Control. Th s navigation mod s will turn on th prop ll r as soon as
th y ar ngag d, r gardl ss of th Prop Auto On s tting.
WARNING! Spot-Locks and Cruise Control will turn on the propeller as soon as they are en a ed, re ardless of the Prop Auto On
settin .
Turn on/off Prop Auto On
1. From th i-Pilot S ttings M nu, s l ct Prop Auto On.
2. S l ct On or Off.
WARNING! When Prop Auto On is turned on, the propeller will turn on when navi ation features are used. Navi ation features
include workin with iTracks and AutoPilot. Be sure the prop is clear from obstructions and hazards when usin navi ation
features.

Th Arrival Mod s tting aff cts iTracks, rout s, waypoints, and Spot-Locks. It do s not apply to Follow th Contour or Circl Mod .

Use a Humm nb rd map card to prov de deta led maps, depth contours, etc. on the chart v ews. To use Follow the Contour, an -P lot
L nk-compat ble Humm nb rd map card must be nstalled and selected as the map source.
Pil t Link C mpatible Map Cards: Humm nb rd LakeMaster, LakeMaster PLUS, and AutoChart ZeroL ne.
 Install a compat ble map card.

i-Pilot Link Navigation Go To Men Options
Off
Turns off the propeller and returns the -P lot L nk to manual mode after nav gat on s fin shed.
You must be prepared to take manual control of the boat.
WARNING! If Aut Pil t is the current navigati n m de, y u must turn ff the pr peller
separately. See Propeller Controls.
Sp t-L ck Creates and engages a Spot-Lock after nav gat on s fin shed. See Spot-Locks for deta ls.
Aut Pil t
If the curs r is inactive, nav gat on beg ns n the d rect on of the boat’s Course Over Ground
(COG) sett ng. If COG s not ava lable, the current Head ng (Hdg) s used.
If the curs r is active, nav gat on beg ns n the d rect on of the cursor’s pos t on us ng bear ng
data from the act ve cursor.

7|Set the Water Level Offset
When you start your tr p for the day, t s mportant to note f the water level s h gher or lower than normal. For example, f the lake
s down 5 feet, set the Water Level Offset sett ng to -5. The d splayed numbers on the Contour L nes w ll adjust from the Water
Level Offset sett ng, and the water level offset w ll be h ghl ghted n brown to extend the land v sually on the d splay.
NOTE: A Humminbird LakeMaster map card must be installed and selected as the map s urce t enable these features.

If the water level is higher than n rmal, set a (+) pos t ve amount.
If the water level is l wer than n rmal, set a (-) negat ve amount.
If the water level has n t changed (n rmal), set Water Level Offset to (0) zero.

Water Level Offset (Set to 0 = Off) Water Level Offset Adjusted to -4
If the water i lower than normal, et the Water Level Off et to a negative
number, and the land will extend vi ually on the map (a hown above). If the
water i higher than normal, et the Water Level Off et to a (+) po itive amount,
and the water line will extend vi ually on the map.

NOTE: When i-Pilot Navi ation is turned on in the menu system, the Arrival Alarm in the Alarms tab is replaced by the i-Pilot
Pre-Arrival Alarm, and the Off Course (XTE) Alarm is replaced by the i-Pilot Off Course (XTE) Alarm.
Adjust the i-Pilot Pre-Arrival Alarm

CAUTION! When the alert sounds, the i-Pilot Link will soon transition to the type of navi ation set in the Arrival Mode menu option.
