The XLR Female Input connector is configured as a mono balanced input and should
be connected to the main line level output from your mixer or audio source. For optimal
performance, an audio source with balanced line outputs should be used in order to reduce
possible noise and keep the input stages of the system at acceptable levels, thereby avoiding
clipped input signals.
This cable is NOT supplied with the L6A speaker since the length between the L6A and the
signal source varies from application to application.

When connecting the Hybrid L6A to the Hybrid L6P, a maximum of two L6P cabinets may
be connected to one L6A. Connecting more than two L6P cabinets may damage the power
amplifier of the L6A cabinet.
The Speakon Output connector is used when connecting a Hybrid L6P Passive Line Array
Speaker to your system. Only use the 4 core link cable supplied with the L6P for this
connection – the cable is a specialised and tailor-made cable for this application, and the
use of a different cable may cause the system to malfunction or cause damage to the L6A
and L6P.
Only use Powercon Output – Powercon Input cables to connect multiple speaker cabinets.
3 Core cable (Live, Neutral and Earth), min. 1mm diameter / core.
The XLR Male connector is a balanced line connector with an industry standard pin-out
configuration as follows:
TIP: Do not drive the power amplifier beyond this point as it will degrade the audio
quality, which may damage your speakers.
6: LEVEL POTENTIOMETER
The rotary level potentiometer controls the output level/volume of the L6A speaker. It is
good practice to have the level potentiometer at its lowest setting (rotated completely anti-
clockwise) prior to switching the L6A on or off.
The L6A cabinet is internally fused. Should the unit not switch on and it is suspected that the
fuse may have blown, take the speaker for testing to your nearest authorised service centre.
Opening the unit and attempting to repair it without the guidance of a qualified technician is
dangerous, as high voltages are present within the circuitry of the cabinet even after the unit
has been switched off.
Usually, when the fuse has blown, it indicates that there are damaged components within the
circuitry of the speaker. Changing the fuse yourself and restarting the speaker may cause
further damage to these components.
DO NOT attempt to bypass the fuse in any manner by bridging the fuse with a solid conductor.

USING THE L6A AS A GROUNDSTACKED APPLICATION
The Hybrid L6A line array cabinet is suited for most small to medium indoor or outdoor
applications. Its applications span being used as a stand-alone cabinet or a coupled array for
speech only to arrays with sub-bass cabinets for live events and DJ performances.
The Hybrid L6A can be used as a ground-stacked setup coupled together with the Hybrid
LS18A (single 18” powered sub-bass) for small indoor functions (up to 500 people) or coupled
with the Hybrid LS218A (dual 18” powered sub-bass) for larger indoor or outdoor functions
(up to 1000 people).
TIP: Connecting more than two L6P cabinets to one L6A cabinet will reduce the system
impedance to dangerous levels and may cause the system to malfunction, potentially
destroying the power amplifier within the L6A.

There are many variations of flown configurations to suit most applications, from a standalone
array for speech using a short or long line, depending on venue size, to arrays coupled with
bass bins for live events and DJ performances.
Flown configurations can also be designed using L6P passive cabinets linked to the L6A active
cabinet. Although a maximum of two L6P passive cabinets can be powered by an L6A active
cabinet, it is recommended to design your system with a ratio of 1:1 for best performance
(i.e., one L6A active cabinet powering one L6P passive cabinet).
FLOWN APPLICATION
FLOWNMAX 8 CABINATS/LINE
SAFETY WHEN FLYING THE HYBRID L6A/L6P CABINETS
Ensure the structure from which the line array will be hung is certified by a qualified structural
engineer.
Only use the correct fly frame (Hybrid L6F) when flying the Hybrid L6A and L6P cabinets, and
before use perform a visual check on the fly frame for any damage that may have occurred
in previous usages.
It is recommended that for permanent flown installations the cabinets be opened by a
qualified service centre and the amplifier module/back panel be inverted. The same should
also be done for the logo on the front grille of the speaker.
Flown systems can be designed using only one or two L6A or L6P cabinets per line if the
venue is small, but it is important to note that the true benefits of line array technology only
start to work with longer lines; thus, it is recommended to have 6 cabinets or more per line.
The Hybrid L6A Active Speakers have been designed primarily for ground-stack
configurations, and when they are used as a flown system, the cabinets will be inverted
once attached to the fly frame.

It is recommended that the hoist and shackles that are used for suspending the line array be
rated with an 8x safety margin of total load for indoor applications and a 16x safety margin of
total load for outdoor applications.
STEP PROCEDURE FOR FLYING APPLICATION
L6F
Never suspend the L6A or L6P line arrays above the audience or technical crew, especially
when using the line array for a temporary event.
Always suspend the L6A and L6P line arrays with the inclusion of safety chains that are not
taut, with as little falling distance as possible required for the safety chain to hold the load.

MAINTENANCE
Your Hybrid L6A Active Line Array Speaker requires no routine maintenance other than the
occasional cleaning of the heat sink located on the rear panel of the Speaker. It is important
to keep the heat sink free of dirt and dust so as to avoid overheating the inbuilt amplifier.
Cleaning of the heat sink is recommended every 3–6 months depending on the environment
the Speaker is working in.
Users will not need to make any internal adjustments to the Hybrid L6A Line Array Speaker
throughout its lifetime. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Removal of the back
panel/amplifier module poses the risk of electrical shock; thus, should any servicing be
needed, it should be carried out by an authorised and qualified service centre.
In the unlikely event that your Hybrid L6A Active Line Array Speaker develops a technical fault,
it should be returned to an authorised distributor or service centre. Due to the complexity of
the design and the risk of electrical shock, all repairs must be carried out by authorised and
qualified personnel. If the L6A Speaker needs to be couriered to the distributor or service
centre, ensure that it is correctly packed in its original packaging so as to avoid further
