3 Performance overview
The Data+ Box is an edge device, that is a small computer in-
tended to measure and process sensor data close to the ma-
chine. The data thus obtained, or calculated, is then, if in-
tended by the application, forwarded to a higher-level system
where it is normally combined with other data.
The DATA+ BOX is designed for operation with embedded
Linux operating systems. HYDACFilterSystemsGmbH an op-
erating system, installed as a standard and the in-house Con-
dition-Monitoring-Software CMX.
The DATA+ BOX has several connections for various bus sys-
tems and can thus be used on many machines that use bus
protocols usual in the trade.
The broad supply voltage range enables operation with vari-
ous, possibly already present, voltage sources.
Special features of the DATA+ BOX:
– Bus connections for Ethernet, RS485, CAN bus and USB.
– Direct connection via M12x1 connector.
– Voltage supply from modules or sensors for RS 485 and
CAN bus up to a total of 3A possible via the DATA+ BOX
(voltage corresponds to that applied at the Power connec-
tion).
– High protection class (IP65) enables use without additional
housing.
– 8GBEMMC read-only memory.
– Various memory expansions available.
– Real-time clock with buffering of up to 4 weeks.
3.1 Checking the scope of delivery
The DATA +BOX is delivered in a packed and operationally-
ready, preset condition. Before commissioning the unit, check
the contents of the package for completeness.

3.2 Intended Use
Use the DATA+ BOX only for the application described in the
following.
– Edge device, main purpose
use with Ubuntu Linux operating system and HYDAC CMX
software for the purpose of stationary machine monitoring
(condition monitoring) and/or process monitoring through
the connection of sensors or input/output modules with
sensors connected to them.
– Storage and evaluation of sensor values.
– Connection of the bus lines to the corresponding M12x1
connectors with the corresponding mating connectors
while observing the mounting pattern described in this in-
struction.
– Continuous operation.
3.3 Improper use or use deviating from intended use
Improper use or use deviating from intended use may result in
hazards and/or will damage the device or peripheral devices
connected to it. Examples of improper use or use deviating
from intended use include:
– Sum of the currents of users supplied with voltage via the
DATA+ BOX >3A
– Terminal connections of the connected peripheral devices
do not match the terminal connections of the DATA+ BOX.
– Modifications to the DATA+ BOX made by the user or pur-
chaser.
– When using:
– unsuitable connectors,
– unsuitable protection class or
– inadequately executed assembly.
