3. General safetyinformation
Read these instructions carefully before use and keep them for later reference.
Note
Readtheoperatinginstructionscarefully.Befamiliarwiththecontrolsandtheproperuseof themachine.
Localregulationscanrestricttheageoftheoperator.
3.1 Preparations
a) Neverallowchildrenorotherpersonswhoarenotfamiliarwiththeoperatinginstructions tousethe
equipment.Contactyourlocalgovernmentalagencyforinformationregarding minimum age
requirements fortheuser.
b) Neverusetheequipmentwhileotherpeople,particularlychildrenoranimals,arenearby.
c) Alwayskeepinmindthattheoperatororuseroftheequipmentisresponsiblefor accidents
orrisksinvolvingotherpersonsortheirproperty.
d) Wearhearingandeyeprotectionwhileoperatingtheequipment.
e) Alwayswearsturdy,nonslipfootwearandlongtrouserswhenusingtheequipment. Neveruse
the equipmentbarefoot orinsandals.
f) Checkthegroundonwhichtheequipmentwillbeusedandremovestones,sticks,wire, bonesand
otherforeignbodiesthatcouldbecaughtupandviolentlyflungout.
g) Warning Petrol is highlyflammable.
h) Onlystorepetrolincontainersdesignedtoholdpetroleum ‐ basedliquids.
i) Onlyrefueloutintheopenanddonotsmokeduringtherefuelingprocess.
j) Alwaysrefuelbeforestartingtheengine.Alwaysensurethatthefueltankcapisclosed whenthe
engineisrunningandwhentheequipmentishot,alsodonotrefuel.
k) Ifpetrolhasoverflowed,donotunderanycircumstancesattempttostarttheengine instead,
removetheequipmentfromtheaffectedarea.Avoidstartingtheengineuntilthe petrolfumeshave
completelyevaporated.
l) Forsafetyreasons,thepetroltankandothertankcapmustbereplacediftheyare damaged.
m) Damagedsilencersmustbereplaced.
n) Beforeuse.Alwaysvisuallyexaminethetoolsandboltsforsignsofwearordamage.To prevent
anyimbalance,replacewornoutordamagedtoolsandboltsasasetonly.
o) Ifyouoperateequipmentwithanejectorattherearandexposedrearrollerswithouta debris
device,youmustwearfulleyeprotectionatalltimes.
3.2 Handing
a) Donotletthecombustionengineruninenclosedareas,asdangerouscarbonmonoxide gas can
buildup.
b) Onlyusetheequipmentinbroaddaylightorinwell ‐ litconditions.
c) Ifpossible,theequipmentshouldnotbeusedondampgrassortakespecialcaretoensure that youdo
not slip.
d) alwaysmaintaingoodfootingoninclines.
e) Onlyoperatethe equipmentat awaling pace.
f) Alwaysguidetheequipmentacrossslopes,neverstraightupordown.
g) Beparticularly carefulwhenyouchangedirectiononaslope.
h) Donotworkonoverlysteepinclines.

i) Beparticularlycarefulwhenyouturntheequipmentaroundorpullittowardyourself.
j) Stop the tools if the equipment has to be tipped to one side for transport purposes, stop the tools if
youcrossanysurfacesotherthangrassandwhilsttransportingtheequipment from and to the area
youwishtouseit on.
k) Neverusetheequipmentwithdamagedormissingsafetydevices,e.g.withoutdeflector plates
and/orthegrasscollecting device.
l) Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingsorover ‐ speedtheengine.
m) Disengagealltineanddriveclutchesbeforestartingtheengine.
n) Startorpressthestarterswitchwithcaution.Makesurethatyourfeetarefarenough away from
thetool(s).
o) Do not tilt the equipment when you start the engine unless the equipment must be raised off of the
groundalittleinordertostartit.Inthiscase,tiltitaslittleasabsolutelynecessary andonlyraisetheside
oppositetothat ofthe user.
p) Donotstartthemotorifyouarepositionedinfrontofthechute.
q) Nevermoveyourhandsorfeettowardorunderanyrotatingparts.Keepclearofthe chute
opening at alltimes.
r) Neverliftorcarrytheequipmentwiththeenginerunning.
s) Switchoffthemotoranddisconnectthesparkplugboot:
‐ Beforeyoureleaseajamorremoveblockagesintheejectorduct.
‐ Beforeyoucheckorcleanthemachineorcarryoutworkonit.
‐ Ifyouhavestruck a foreign object.
Checktheequipmentforsignsofdamageandcarryouttherequiredrepairworkbefore yourestart it
anduse the machine.
If the equipment starts to vibrate unusually(check immediately).
t) Switchoffthemotoranddisconnectthesparkplugboot:
‐ Wheneveryouleavethe equipmentunattended.
‐ Before yourefuel.
u) Closetheengine’s throttlevalveandtheenginehascometoastandstill.
3.3 Maintenance and storage
a) Makesurethatallnuts,boltsandscrewsaretightenedsecurelytoensurethatthe equipment
isinsafe working condition.
b) Neverstoretheequipmentwithpetrolinthetankinsideabuildinginwhichpetrolfumes couldcome
intocontact withopenflamesorsparks.
c) Allowthemotortocoolbeforeyouputtheequipmentintheenclosedarea.
d) Inordertoavoidfirehazard,keeptheengine,exhaust,batterycompartmentandthearea aroundthe
fueltankfreefromgrassstraw,moss,leavesandleakinggrease.
e) Makeregularchecksonthegrasscollectingdeviceforwearordamagedparts.
f) Checktheequipmentatregularintervalsandreplacewornordamagedpartsforyourown safety.
g) Ifthefueltankneedstobeemptied,ensurethatitisdoneoutintheopen.Thedrained fuelshould
bestoredinacontainerspecificallydesignedforfuelorbedisposedofwith special care.

5. Proper use
Theequipmentisdesignedforscarifyinglawnedareas.Thescarifyingprocessisdesignedfor rip ‐ ping
mossandweeds ‐ completewiththeirroots.Outofthesoilandforlooseningthe soil.Asaresultyour
lawncanabsorbnutrientsbetterandiscleaned.Werecommendyouto scarifyyoulawninthespring
(April)andautumn(October).
Important!
Duetothehighriskofbodilyinjurytotheuser,theequipmentmaynotbeusedto
grindupbranchorhedgeclippings.Moreover,theequipmentmaynotbeusedasapower cultivatorto
levelouthighareassuchasmolehills.Forsafetyreasons,theequipmentmay not be usedasadrive
unitforotherworktoolsortoolsetsofanykind.
The equipmentisto be used only for its prescri ‐ bed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of
misuse.Theuser/operatorandnotthemanufacturerwillbeliableforanydamage orinju ‐ ries ofany
kindcausedasaresultofthis.

7. Before starting the equipment
Theequipmentisdeliveredunassembled.Thegrassbasketandthecompletepushbarmust be
assembledandmountedbeforeusingtheequipment.Followtheoperatinginstructions step ‐ by ‐ step
andusethepicturesprovidedasavisualguidetoeasilyassemblethe equipment.
Fitting the top push bar holder (Fig. 4a)
Positiontheupperpushbar(Fig.4a/Item2)suchthatitsholeslineupwiththeholesofthe lowerbar.
Screwthetubestogether,usingthescrews(Fig.4a/Item12)andnuts(Fig.4a/ Item8)sup ‐ plied.Use
thesuppliedcableclips(Fig.4b/Item11)tosecurethethrottlecable andtheengineStart/Stop
cabletothelowerpushbar.
Fitting the debris box (Fig. 5)
Lifttheejectorflap(Fig.5/Item5)withonehandandattachthedebrisbox(Fig.5/Item6) tothehandle
fromaboveusingyourotherhand.
Important:Beforeyouattachthedebrisboxyoumustensurethattheengineisswitchedo ff andthe
rollerisnot rotating.

8. Operation
Important!
Theenginedoesnotcomewithoilinit.Therefore,besuretoaddoilbeforestartingthe engine.Theoillevel
intheenginemustbecheckedeachtimebeforecarryingoutanywork. Important!
Whentheenginebrakeleverisre ‐ leaseditmustreturntoitsinitialpositionandtheengine muststop.Ifthis
isnotthecase,donotusetheequipmentagain.
8.1 Starting the equipment (Fig. 6 – 7)
Inordertoavoidanyunintentionalstart ‐ upsoftheengine,itcomesequippedwithan enginebrake
(Fig.6/Item1)whichmustbepressedatalltimeswhilstthedeviceisinuse, otherwise the engine will
stop.
Openthepetrolcock(Fig.7/ItemB).Setthecockto“ON” forthispurpose. Setthe
chokelever(Fig.7/ItemC)tothe“Choke” position.
Note:Normallythechokeisnotrequiredtorestartawarmengine. Movethe
throttlelever(Fig.1/Item7)tothecenterposition.
Presstheenginebrakelever(Fig.6/Itemandpullthestartercable(Fig.7/ItemA) forcefullyuntilthe
engine starts.
Allowtheenginetowarmupbrieflyandthensetthechokelever(Fig.7/ItemB)tothe “RUN” Position.
Thespeedofthecutterunitcanbecontrolledusingthethrottlelever(Fig.6/Item7)(tortoi ‐ se=slow/
rabbit=fast).
Important!
Alwayspullthestartercableslowlyuntilyoufeeltheinitialresistancebeforeyouthenpullit quicklytostartthe
engine.Donotallowthestartercabletowhipbackofitsownaccord.
Important!
The scarifier roller begins to rotate as soon as the engine is started.
Important!
Neveropentheejectorflapwhenthemotorisrunning.Arotatingcuttingunitcancause injuries.
Alwaysfastentheejectorflapcarefully.Theflapflipsbacktothe“Closed” positionbythe tension springs!
Alwaysensurethatasafedistance(providedbythelonghandles)ismaintainedbetweenthe userandthe
housing.Beespeciallycarefulwhenscarifyingandchangingdirectiononslopes andinclines.Maintaina
solidfootingandwearsturdy,non ‐ slipfootwearandlongtrousers. Alwayssca ‐ rifyalongtheincline
(not upanddown).
Forsafetyreasons,thescarifiermaynotbeusedtoscarifyinclineswhosegradientexceeds 15
degrees.
Use special caution when backing up and pulling the scarifier (tripping hazard)!
8.2 Adjusting the working depth (Fig. 8)
Tosettheworkingdepth,pushtheleverforset ‐ tingthedepth(Fig.8/Item4)gentlyaway fromthe
device,settherequireddepthandthenlocktheleverbackintoposition.
8.3 Stopping
When the work is finished, release the rotor engagement lever.

Important!
Fortransportmovetheleverforset ‐ tingthedepthtothehighestposition. Tipsfor
proper working
Itisrecommendedthatyouoverlapscarifyingpathsalittle.Trytoscarifyinstraightlinesfor anice,clean
look.Insodoing,theaerationswathsshouldalwaysoverlapeachotherbyafew centi ‐ meters in order
toavoid bare strips.
Assoonasgrassclippingsstarttotrailthescarifiers,itistimetoemptythegrassbasket.
Important!
Beforetakingo ff thegrassbasket,switcho ff themotorandwaituntiltherollerhascometo a stop.
Toremovethegrassbasket,liftuptheejectorflapwithonehand,whileunhookingthe basket with the
other.
Howfrequentlyyoushouldscarifyyourlawnisdeterminedprimarilybythespeedatwhich thegrass
growsandthe hardness ofthesoil.
Keeptheundersideoftheequipmentcleanandremovesoilandgrassbuild ‐ up.Deposits makeit
moredi ffi culttostarttheaeratoranddecreasethequalityofthescarifying.
Alwaysscarifyalonginclines(notupanddown).Switcho ff themotorbeforedoingany checks on the
roller.
Important!
Therollerrotatesforafewsecondsafterthemotorisswitchedo ff .Neverattempttostop theroller.Inthe
eventthattherotatingrollerstrikesanobject,immediatelyswitcho ff the equipmentandwaitfortheroller
tocometoacompletestop.Theninspecttheconditionof theroller.Replace anypartsthatare
damaged.
9. Cleaning,maintenance,storage,transportandorderingofspareparts
Important!
Neverworkonortouchconductingpartsontheignitionunitwiththeenginerunning. Alwayspullthe
sparkplugbootfromthesparkplugbeforestartinganyworkofcareor maintenance.Neverperformany
workonthemachinewhileitisrun ‐ ning.Anyworknot describedintheseOperatingInstructionsmustbe
performedbyanauthorizedservice workshop only.
9.1 Cleaning
Thescarifiershouldbecleanedthoroughlyeve ‐ rytimeafterithasbeenused.This particularly
appliestoitsundersideandtheblades.Todosotipthescarifierslightlyontoits side and removethe
dirt.
Important. Before you tip the equipment, the pet ‐ rol tank must be emptied to prevent petrol
leakingout.Ideallyyoushoulduseaconventionalpetrolextractionpumpforthis purpose.
9.2 Servicing
Checking the oil level
Set the equipment down on a flat, level surface.
Unscrewtheoildipstickbyturningitanti ‐ clockwi ‐ se.Theoillevelmustbeasshownin Figure 10.

Neverruntheenginewithnoortoolittleoil.Thiscancauseseriousdamagetotheengine.
Changing the oil
a) Changetheengineoileveryyearbeforethestartoftheseason(inadditiontothe informa ‐
tioninthepetrolservicemanual)whentheengineiswarm.
b) Use only recommended engine oil.
c) Placeasuitableoildriptraybeneaththeoildrainscrew.
d) Removetheoilfiller screw(Fig.9/ItemA).
e) Undotheoildrainscrew(Fig.9/ItemB)anddraintheoilintoasuitablecontainer.
f) Closethedrainscrewagainwhenalltheusedoilhasbeendrained.
g) Pourengineoilintothe equipmentasshowninFigure10.
h) Disposeoftheusedoilinaccordancewithapplicableregulations.
Care and adjustment of the cables
Oil the cables at regular intervals and check that they move easily.
Servicing the airfilter
Soiledairfiltersreducetheengineoutputbysup ‐ plytoolittleairtothecarburetor. Regularchecks
arethereforeessential.Theairfiltershouldbecheckedafterevery50hours ofuseandcleanedif
necessary.Iftheaircontainsalotofdust,theairfiltershouldbe checked morefrequently.
a) Remove the airfilter asshowninFig.11 ‐ 13.
b) Cleantheairfilter onlywithcompressedairorbytappingit.
c) Assemble in reverseorder
Important!
Never clean the air filter with petrol or inflammable solvents.
Servicing/Replacing the spark plug
Checkthesparkplugfordirtandgrimeafter10hoursofoperationandifnecessarycleanit withacopper
wirebrush.Thereafterservicethesparkplugafterevery50hoursof operation.
a) Pulloffthe sparkplugboot(Fig. 14)with atwist.
b) Removethesparkplugusingasparkplugwrench(Fig.15).
c) Assemble inreverse order.
9.3 Preparing the equipment for storage
Caution
Donotemptythepetroltankinenclosedareas,nearfireorwhensmoking.Petrolfumescan cause
explosions andfire.
a) Emptythepetroltankwithapetrolsuction pump.
b) Starttheengineandletitrununtilanyremai ‐ ningpetrolhasbeenusedup.
c) Changetheoilattheendofeveryseason.Todoso,removetheusedengineoilfroma warm
engineand refill with fresh oil.
d) Removethesparkplugfromthecylinderhead.Fillthecylinderwithapprox.20mlofoil fromanoil
can.Slowlypullbackthestarterhandle,whichwillbathethecylinderwall with oil.Screwthe
sparkplugbackin.
e) Cleanthecoolingfinsofthecylinderandthehousing.
f) Besuretocleantheentiremachinetoprotectthepaint.
g) Storethe machineinawell ‐ ventilatedplace.

9.4 Preparing the device for transport
a) Drainthepetroltankusingapetrol extractionpump.
b) Alwayslettheenginerununtilithasuseduptheremainderofpetrolinthetank.
c) Emptytheengine oilfromthewarmengine.
d) Removethesparkplugbootfromthesparkplug.
e) Cleanthecoolingfinsofthecylinderandthehousing.
f) Removethepushbarsifnecessary.Ensurethatthecablesarenotkinked.
