Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite
accidents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as
in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power
tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power
tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug
in any way. Do not use any adapted plugs with earthed(grounded)
power tools. Modified plugs and un-matching outlets will increase
the risk of electric shock.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as
pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased
risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water
entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or
unplugging the power tool. Keep it away from heat, oil, sharp edges
or moving parts.
When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord
suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use
reduces the risk of electric shock.

motor housing. Keep the handle of the planer dry & clean. Keep
your body positioned to either side of the blade, but not in line
with the blade.
Use clamps or other practical way to secure and support the
work piece to a stable platform. Do not hold the material to be
worked in your hands, your legs or feet, it’s important that the
material be adequately clamped down, reducing the contact with
the body and the possibility of losing control.
Do not operate the planer on surfaces under which there might
be electrical wires, and water or pipes. The contact with wires or
water might cause electrical shocks.
Do not overload the planer, use it only for the adequate purpose.
Using the planer for purposes that are different from what
indicated in this manual might lead to hazardous situations.
Wait for the blade to come to a complete stop, there is a period
of inertial movement before the tool stops after turned OFF.
The use of this tool create and/or spread dust that may cause
serious and permanent respiratory injuries. To reduce the
exposure to these substances, work in well-ventilated places and
always use dust mask.

Unplug the planer before changing accessories. Before plugging
the planer in, check that the trigger lock is OFF. Accidental start-
ups can occur if plugged in while changing an accessory.
After changing blades, rotate the blade drum to make sure the
blades are not hitting any part of the housing and that the blade
locking screws are tight. Spinning blades could strike the tool
housing and damage the tool as well as causing possible injury.
Do not use dull or damaged blades. Sharp blades must be handled
with care. Damaged blades can snap during use.
Do not pull the plane backward over the work piece. Loss of
control can occur.
Do not apply any sideways or twisting force to the blade whilst
cutting.
Never force the planer. Forcing the tool can cause uneven cuts,
loss of accuracy and possible kickback. Push the tool forward at
a speed so that the blade cuts without slowing.
When operating the planer, keep the cord away from the cutting
area and position it so that it will not be caught on the work piece
during the cutting operation.
Blade depth and adjusting locking knob must be tight and
secure before making cut. If blade adjustment shifts while
cutting, it may cause binding and kickback.
Always wait until the planer has come to a complete stop before
placing it down.
Periodically check that all nuts, bolts and other fixings have not
loosened, tighten where necessary.
When an extension cord is required you must ensure it has the
correct ampere rating for your power tool and that it is in a safe
electrical condition.

The EP82-58 Electric Planer is a power tool used to take off small
amounts wood by shaving it off in increments. It shaves and
shapes wood like a hand plane, a belt sander and a jointer all rolled
into one.
The blade of the planer is mounted in the middle of two metal
plates (often referred to as the ‘shoe’).
The front shoe can be adjusted (moves up & down) via a Depth
Adjustment Knob, located near the front of the planer up to a
maximum depth cut of 2 mm.
Applications of the planer includes:
Doors, to take off a little bit from the edge of the door.
Straightening out Frames;
Cutting Rabbets - Rabbets can come in handy and are typically
used in making doors, cabinets and some furniture. Using the
guide available with the planer is the best way to go and will give
you a much better (and straighter) end result.
Chamfering Edges –to chamfer edges but, not as accurate as
some other tools.

REMOVING OR INSTALLING PLANER BLADES
NOTE: The direction in which the cutting blade rotates has
to be the same as the direction of the arrow marked.
WARNING! Disconnect plug from power supply before
making any adjustments to the tool.
To remove the blades on the drum, unscrew the three installation
bolts with the socket wrench provided. The drum cover comes off
together with the blades.
To install the blades, loosely attach the adjusting plate to the set
plate with the screws and set the planer blade on the gauge base
so that the cutting edge of the blade is perfectly flush with the
inside flank of the gauge plate.
(Refer the illustrations provided on the next page)
Set the adjusting plate/set plate on the gauge base so that the
planer blade locating lugs on the set plate rest in the planer blade
groove, then press in the heel of the adjusting plate flush with the
back side of the gauge base and tighten the screws.

It is important that the blade sits flush with the inside flank of
the gauge plate, the planer blade locating lugs sit in the blade
groove and the heel of the adjusting plate is flush with the back
side of the gauge base.
Check this alignment carefully to ensure uniform cutting.
Slip the heel of the adjusting plate into the groove of the drum.
Set the drum cover over the adjusting /set plate and screw in the
three bolts so that a gap exists between the drum and the set
plate to slide the mini planer blade into position. The blade will
be positioned by the planer blade locating lugs on the set plate.
.
The blade's lengthwise adjustment will need to be manually
positioned so that the blade ends are clear & equidistant from
the housing on one side and the metal bracket on the other.

GENERAL OPERATION
WARNING! Hold the tool firmly with one hand on the knob or
motor housing and the other hand on the switch handle when
performing the tool.
Refer the specific instructions on page no. 5 & 6.
Secure the work piece to a stable platform. Make sure the area
planing in is stable and does not move during the process.
Hold the tool with both hands
using both grips. This ensures
optimum control over it.
Push the planer beyond edge of
the work piece without tilting it
downwards.
Turn off the planer and wait
for the blade to stop before
setting the planer down.
Switch the planer ON and wait for the blades to reach full speed.
Make sure the blades reached full speed before you start planing.
IBL EP82-58
Hold the planer firmly with both hands. Rest the front shoe flat
on the work piece surface, ensuring that the blades do not make
contact with the work.
Move the planer gently forward along the grain of the wood.
Apply pressure on the front of the planer at the beginning of the
stroke and at the rear towards the end of the stroke.
Guide the planer at a constant speed across the material to be
worked on. Do not guide the planer across the surface to be
planed too fast. Allow it enough time to plane the surface.
The feed rate and the depth of cutting determines the quality
of the finish. Reduce the depth of the cut to achieve a smoother
finish. For a rough cutting, the depth of cut should be increased
as well.

13
A rabbet is a recess or groove cut into the edge of a piece of wood.
This is two-sided and open to the edge or end of the surface into
which it is cut.
To make a stepped cut (rabbeting), use the edge fence (guide rule
provided with the product). Insert the edge fence into the hole (5) in
the front of the tool. Align the blade edge with the cutting line.
Adjust the fence until it comes in contact with the side of the
work piece, then secure it by tightening the wing nut (4).
When planing, move the tool with the edge fence flush with the
side of the work piece.
Maximum rabbeting depth is 10 mm.
RABBETING
A chamfer is an angled cut made across the corner of a material.
The V-groove in the front shoe allow you to create a sloping edge
along the corner of your work.
To make a chamfering cut, align the V-groove with the edge of the
work and plane it.

Keep the planer clean. Keep the ventilation slots clean and free
from obstructions. If possible, blow compressed air into the vents
to clear any internal dust (safety goggles must be worn when under-
taking this process). Accumulation of dust in the motor or on the
base may cause a malfunction of the tool.
Never use chemical cleaners to clean your tool.
Wipe it clean with a dry cloth.
We recommend using the original package for covering the
product or suitable means to protect it against dust.
Before and after each use, check the product and accessories (or
attachments) for wear and damage.
Inspecting planer blade; Check the cutting blade carefully for
cracks or dull/damage before and after each use. Continuing to
use a dull blade may cause a dangerous kickback and/or motor
overload. Dressing could be suitable or replace with a new blade
as soon as it no longer cuts effectively.

15
Sharpening the planer blades:
-Use the sharpening holder (an optional accessory) to remove
nicks and produce a fine edge.
-First, loosen the wing nut on the holder and insert the blades
so that they contact the sides. Then tighten the wing nuts.
-Hold the holder so that the both blades contact the dressing
stone (silicon carbide or any other abrasive stone) for better &
simultaneous sharpening at the same angle.
(Immerse the stone in water for 2 or 3 min before sharpening)
Inspecting the supply cord; Do not pull or carry the planer by
the electric cord or allow its contact with edges, sharp elements,
rough surfaces, oil or chemicals that may damage its flexible and
insulating properties.
Inspecting carbon brushes; The motor employs carbon brushes
which are consumable parts. Keep the brushes clean so that they
move freely on the support.
Remove and check the carbon brushes
quite often. Replace when they wear
down to an extended limit since an
excessively worn carbon brush results
in motor trouble. Use only identical
carbon brushes.
Both carbon brushes should be
replaced at the same time.
This product does not contain any parts that can be repaired
by the consumer. Contact an authorised service centre or a
similarly qualified person to have it checked and repaired.
