12
Using your oven
Before first use
oTo remove any residue from the oven that may have been left
from the manufacturing process, you should select the
conventional oven function and then turn the thermostat control
knob to its maximum temperature setting.
oIt is perfectly normal for a smell to be produced during this
process.
oYou should make sure that any windows in the room are left open
during this process.
oIt is advisable for you not to remain in the room whilst the burning
off process is taking place.
oYou should leave the cavity on maximum setting for 30 –40
minutes.
oAfter the cavity has cooled, it should then be cleaned with warm
soapy water, using either a sponge or soft cloth. No abrasive
cleaners should be used.
oOuter parts of the oven should be cleaned with warm soapy water,
using either a sponge or soft cloth. No abrasive cleaners should
be used.
There are four cooking functions available on your appliance:
CONVENTIONAL OVEN: This method of cooking provides
traditional cooking, with heat from the top and lower
elements. This function is suitable for roasting and baking on
one shelf only.
FULL GRILL: This method of cooking utilises the inner and
outer parts of the top element, which directs heat downwards
onto the food. This function is suitable for grilling medium or
large portions of sausages, bacon, steaks, fish etc. Ideally the
thermostat control knob should be set to 200°C.
LOWER ELEMENT ONLY: The heat is directed from the
bottom to the top of the dish. This cooking method is suitable
for reheating food or for slow cooking. Select the desired
temperature between 50°C and 250°C. The preset oven
temperature is 180°C.

13
TOP ELEMENT ONLY: This method of cooking uses the
outer part of the top element to direct heat downwards onto
the food. For gentle cooking, browning or keeping cooked
dishes warm.
IMPORTANT: You should
ensure that the handle for the
enamelled baking tray is
connected correctly when
using it.
Power on indicators
These lights will come on to indicate that the oven’s heating elements
are in operation. The relevant light will switch off when the temperature
set on the thermostat control knob has been reached. It will cycle on
and off throughout the cooking time.
You should not place food inside the cavity, until the correct
cooking temperature has been reached.
Cooking guidelines
oPlease refer to the information given on food packaging for
guidance on cooking temperatures and times. Once familiar with
the performance of your appliance, temperatures and times can
be varied to suit personal preference.
oFor the main oven you should follow the information given on the
food packaging for a conventional oven.
oMake sure that frozen foods are thoroughly thawed before
cooking, unless the instructions on the food packaging advise that
you can “cook from frozen”.
oYou should pre-heat the oven and not place food inside of it until
the oven is properly heated.

14
oBefore cooking, check that any unused accessories are removed
from the oven.
oPlace cooking trays in the centre of the oven and leave gaps
between the trays to allow air to circulate.
oTry to open the door as little as possible to view the dishes.
oThe oven light will remain on during cooking.
Warnings
oKeep the oven door closed when using any of the oven functions.
oDo not use aluminium foil to cover the enamelled baking tray or
heat items wrapped in aluminium foil under the grill. The high
reflectivity of the foil could potentially damage the grill element.
oYou should never line the base of your oven with aluminium foil.
oDuring cooking, never place pans or cookware directly onto the
bottom of the oven. They should always be placed on the shelves
provided.
oThe oven components become extremely hot during operation,
avoid touching them inadvertently when handling the food which
you are cooking.
oIMPORTANT: Be careful when opening the door, to avoid contact
with hot parts and steam.
oIMPORTANT: In case of fire, switch off the electricity supply to
the appliance. NEVER pour water onto burning oil.

15
Using the hob top
Before first use
IMPORTANT: You should clean the hob surface (see
“Cleaning and maintenance” section).
oYou should switch on one cooking zone at a time, for 5 minutes at
the maximum setting. This will help to eliminate any new smell
that exists and evaporate any humidity that has formed on the
heating elements during transit.
oDo not burn off more than one zone at once.
oYou must place a saucepan filled half full with cold water on each
zone as you burn it off.
Using the hob top zones
oEach zone on the hob top is controlled by a
control knob.
oTo activate a zone, position the control knob
between 1 –6.
oYou should select a control knob position that is
suitable for the particular cooking that you are carrying out. 6 is
the highest temperature setting and 0 is off.
oWhen you have finished cooking on a particular zone, it is
important to make sure that the control knob is turned back to 0
(the off position).

16
Hob guidelines
oThe first few times the hob top is used, it may give off an acrid,
burning smell. This smell will disappear completely with repeated
use.
oThe worktop is fitted with cooking areas of different diameter and
power.
oThe positions where the heat will radiate from are clearly marked
on the hob top. The saucepans must be positioned exactly on
these zones for efficient heating to occur. Pans should have the
same diameter as the cooking zone that they are being used on.
oYou should not use saucepans with rough bottoms, as this can
scratch the surface.
oBefore use, make sure that the bottoms of the saucepans are
clean and dry.
oWhen cold, the bottom of the pans should be slightly concave, as
they expand when hot and lie flat on the surface of the hob. This
will allow the heat to transfer more easily.
oThe best thickness for the bottom of the pans is 2 –3 mm of
enamelled steel and 4 –6 mm for stainless steel with sandwich
type bottoms.
oIf these rules are not followed, then there will be a great loss of
heat and energy. Heat not absorbed by the saucepan, will spread
to the hob, frame and surrounding cabinets.
oPreferably cover pans with a lid to permit cooking at a lower heat.
oAlways cook vegetables and potatoes, etc. in as little water as
possible to reduce cooking times.
oFor a faster heat up of a zone, you can turn the control knob to 3.
Then when the contents of the saucepan are boiling, you may turn
the control knob to a lower setting.
oFood or liquid that has a high sugar content may damage the hob
top if it comes into contact with the hob surface. Any spillages
should be wiped up immediately, however this may not prevent
the hob surface from becoming damaged.
oIMPORTANT: The hob surface is tough; however it is not
unbreakable and can be damaged. Especially if pointed or hard
objects are allowed to fall on it with some force.

17
oDO NOT USE THE HOB IF THE SURFACE BECOMES BROKEN
OR CRACKED. YOU SHOULD CONTACT THE IBERNA SERVICE
DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY.
Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning operations must only be carried out when
the oven is cool.
The appliance should be disconnected from your
mains supply before commencing any cleaning
process.
oThe oven should be thoroughly cleaned before it is operated for
the first time and after each use. This will avoid residual food stuffs
becoming baked on the oven cavity. After residues have been
baked on several times, they are far more difficult to remove.
oNever clean the oven surfaces by steam cleaning.
oThe oven cavity should only be cleaned with warm soapy water,
using either a sponge or soft cloth. No abrasive cleaners should
be used.
oAny stains that may appear on the bottom of the oven will have
originated from food splashes or spilt food, these splashes occur
during the cooking process. These could possibly be a result of the
food being cooked at an excessively high temperature or being
placed in cookware that is too small.
oYou should select a cooking temperature that is appropriate for
the food that you are cooking. You should also ensure that the
food is placed in an adequately sized dish and that you use the
enamelled baking tray where appropriate.
oOuter parts of the oven should only be cleaned with warm soapy
water, using either a sponge or soft cloth. No abrasive cleaners
should be used.
oIf you use any form of oven cleaner on your appliance, then you
must check with the manufacturer of the cleaner that it is suitable
for use on your appliance.
oAny damage that is caused to the appliance by a cleaning
product will not be fixed by Iberna free of charge, even if
the appliance is within the guarantee period.

18
Cleaning the hob top
oAny residues that are left on the hob top surface from cleaning
agents will damage it. You should remove any residues with water
and a little washing up.
oAbrasive cleaners or sharp objects will damage the hob surface;
you should clean it using water and a little washing up liquid.
oAlthough it is easier to clean some deposits whilst the hob surface
is still warm. You should take care not to burn yourself if cleaning
the hob surface when it is still warm.
After each use
oWipe the appliance over with a damp cloth and a little washing up
liquid.
oDry the appliance by rubbing the surface with a clean cloth.
Maintaining the solid plates
oIf something is spilt onto the plate itself, then it can be removed
using a soft brush, plastic or nylon scourer and warm water.
oTo keep the solid plates in good condition, you should put a little
olive oil onto a kitchen towel and rub it onto the surface of the
plate. The next time the plate is used, it may produce a little
smoke.
oAlternatively you can use a hotplate conditioner; these products
can normally be found at larger supermarkets and hardware
stores. The manufacturer’s instructions should be followed when
using these products.
IMPORTANT: If the solid plates are not maintained regularly with olive
oil or a hotplate conditioner, then they may rust.
Replacing the oven bulb
IMPORTANT: The oven must be disconnected from
your mains supply before you attempt to either
remove or replace the oven bulb.

19
oRemove all oven shelves and the drip tray.
oUnscrew the lamp cover.
oUnscrew the bulb and remove it from its holder.
oReplace the bulb with a 15 W/300°C, screw type pygmy.
oDo not use any other type of bulb.
oScrew the lamp cover back into its original position.
Removing the oven door for cleaning
To facilitate the cleaning of the inside of the cooker and the outer frame
of the oven, the door can be removed as follows:-
oThe hinges (A) have two movable bolts on them (B).
oIf you raise both of the movable bolts (B), then the hinges (A)
are released from the oven housing.
oYou should grip the sides of the door at the centre and then incline
it slightly towards the cooker cavity and then pull it gently away
from the cooker cavity.
oIMPORTANT: You should make sure that the door is supported
at all times and that you place the door on some padded material
whilst cleaning it.

20
oThe oven door and door glass should only be cleaned using a damp
cloth and a small amount of detergent. The cloth MUST NOT have
come into contact with any form of cleaning product or chemical
previously.
oTo refit the door you should slide the hinges back into their slots
and open the door fully.
oIMPORTANT: The movable bolts (B) must be closed back into
their original positions before closing the door.
oTake care not to dislodge the hinge locking
system when removing the door, as the hinge
mechanism has a strong spring.
oDo not immerse the door in water at any time.
Installation
The installation must be carried out by a suitably
qualified person, in accordance with the current
version of the following.
oUK Regulations and Safety Standards or their European
Norm Replacements.
oBuilding Regulations (issued by the Department of the
Environment).
