Product description:
e So starter is 3 phase controlled and designed for
starting and running compressor motors. e so
starter has current controlled ramping up and by-pass
function.
e voltage control compensate for missing start
torque at starting up ramping. e current measure-
ment is also for I2t calculation for protection of the
motor. e motor protection has to be adjusted before
starting up.
e so starter has internal by-pass relays for bypass-
ing the semiconductors when the motor is in full
speed.
Any kind of failure cause stop and the so starter will
go into service mode until the failure is reset. e so
starter has also pause mode for protecting the
semiconductors against overheating.
Alarm indication is provided through a red LED which
signals the type of fault via a user-friendly ashing
sequence.

Costumer Advantage:
Current reduction up to 65% peak, extend mechanical lifetime of the compressor.
Current reduction eliminates the voltage clips and light ickering.
Real RMS current measurement, for exact control of the current.
Mounting from the top and down.
Spring clamps for fast and easy mounting.
Internal motor protection (I2t- metering, using class 10 trip curve) gives reduction in cost for external motor protec-
tion and wiring.
Individual adaptation.
Fault detections:
Over/under current : If the current cross the upper limit the so starter will go into service mode to protect
relays and motor. e failure is automatically reset.
: If the current is too low, the so starter will go into service mode and stay until the
failure is automatically reset.
Motor protection : e protection of the motor is continuously monitored and will trip according to trip
class 10. e failure is automatically reset.
(Other trip classes can be integrated).
Stall : If the motor is stalling the current will raise and the motor protection will close
down.
e failure is automatically reset.
Temperature control : If the temperature in the so starter is detected to be under or over allowed
temperature the so starter will be in service mode and not be able to start until the
temperature is in between the limits.
Frequency sequence : If the frequency is outside the area (45 … 65 Hz) it will not be able to start.
e so starter will be in service mode until the failure is corrected and reset.
Hardware failure : If a hardware failure occur inside the so starter. e so starter will stop and go into
pause mode. e failure can be reset manually but it will continue in the pause mode
until the time is running out.
Reset (push button) : e reset will reset all failure. e pause will continue until end of time.
e motor will start if the start signal is activated, if not it will go into service mode.
e so starter is active (motor not running) :
If the voltage drop below lower level the “Fault” alarm will occur and the so starter
will go into “Service” mode and wait until the voltage is over lower level.
If the voltage is above upper level the “Fault” alarm will occur and the so starter will
go into “Service” mode and wait until the voltage is below upper level.
Motor Protection Adjustment :
Adjust the motor current to In + 10% as maximum.
