ABOUT THESE INSTRUCTIONS
1 Reading and storing these instructions
These Original Instructions – referred to in the following as the “instructions”
– are part of the scope of supply of this pedelec.
Contrary to standard EN 15194, all electrically power assisted cycles (EPACs*)
described here are grouped under the term "Pedelec.**".
Whenever these instructions refer to “pedelec” in general, they mean any of the pedelec
models described here.
All illustrations in these instructions are examples; as a result, individual details on your
pedelec may differ from those shown in these instructions.
These instructions contain all of the important information on safety and use of your
pedelec. They are based on the standards that apply in the European Union.
Before using your pedelec for the first time, please read these instructions and all applicable
manufacturer's component instructions, especially safety notices, carefully and completely.
If you do not follow these instructions and all other applicable manufacturer's component
instructions, you or other persons could be injured and/or cause damage to property.
Always keep these instructions and all applicable manufacturer's component instructions
on hand for further use.
If you pass on the pedelec to a third party, it is essential that you include these instructions
and all applicable manufacturer's component instructions.
You can download a copy of these instructions in PDF format from the manufacturer’s
website.
* Electrically Power Assisted Cycles = EPAC
** Pedal electric cycle = Pedelec

11
ABOUT THESE INSTRUCTIONS
2 Applicable documents
In addition to these instructions, always observe the additionally applicable manufacturer's
instructions for the components installed on your pedelec.
Any manufacturer's instructions for other components enclosed with these instructions
must also be observed. For example:
-Pedelec: Drive unit, operating element, battery and charger
-Brakes
-Suspension fork and rear suspension
-Gear shift system
-Hubs/quick-release clamps
-etc.
As a supplement to these instructions, these manufacturer's component instructions form
an essential part of the scope of the technical documentation for this pedelec.
If you have not received separate manufacturer's component instructions, please contact
the manufacturer of your pedelec to ask for a copy.
3 Labelling and meanings of safety notices and warnings
Safety notices and warnings describe hazards that could occur when handling or using the
pedelec, and provide instructions on how to avoid such hazards.
The safety notices are summarised in the "SAFETY" section.
Warnings are placed next to the step or process from where the potential hazard arises.
In order to use the pedelec safely, it is imperative to heed the safety notices and warnings.
Therefore, you must read through all the safety notices and warnings very carefully and take
the contents on board in order to avoid risks when handling and using the pedelec.
Safety notices and warnings are indicated as follows in these instructions, based on the
possible consequences of failure to observe them.

SAFETY
6 Proper use
Neither the manufacturer nor the specialist dealer will accept liability for damage which
occurs due to improper use. Only use the pedelec in the manner described in these instruc-
tions. Any other use is considered improper and may lead to accidents, serious injury or
damage to the pedelec and its components.
The warranty will be rendered void in the event of improper use of the pedelec.
Fundamentally, the following applies:
-The pedelec is designed for one cyclist.
-The sitting position on the pedelec must be correctly adjusted according to the
cyclist's height.
-The maximum permitted total weight of the pedelec must not be exceeded
27.
-Country-specific and regional regulations must be observed to comply with the
proper use of the pedelec in road traffic
26.
-The pedelec is not approved for use with a child seat and/or trailer (child trailer, load
trailer, dog trailer, etc.). Observe the instructions in the bicycle passport.
96.
Furthermore, the specific guidelines on proper use for the relevant classification for usage
of the pedelec also apply
16.
Possible examples of improper use are as follows:
-Manipulating or modifying the e-drive of an pedelec
.
-Using an unsuitable pedelec with a child seat and/or a trailer.

Misuse
In order to use your pedelec safely, avoid the following instances of misuse:
• Use of the pedelec for competitions, jumps, stunts or tricks if the pedelec category
(classification for usage) excludes such use;
• Incorrect repairs and maintenance.
• Improper use of the Battery.
• Structural changes to the pedelec as delivered, especially to the tuning, and any other
modifications to the pedelec.
• Opening and changing any components on the pedelec.
• Charging outside the temperature range specified by the manufacturer.
• Deep discharge of the battery due to long pauses in charging or improper storage of
the battery outside the optimum storage temperature specified by the manufacturer.
• Ambient temperatures below +10°C and above +40°C may reduce the range.
• In the long run, especially high and especially low ambient temperatures can accelerate
the wear of the battery or even damage the battery.
INFORMATION
Misuse of the pedelec can lead to the warranty becoming void.
Prohibition of tuning and modifications
Possible legal consequences:
• The pedelec is subject to registration and compulsory insurance. Any legal regulations
relating to equipment and all Road Traffic Licensing Regulations apply.
• Loss of all liability, warranties and guarantees on the part of the manufacturer.
• Criminal consequences are not excluded. For example, the offence of causing negligent
bodily harm could be applied.
• Loss of cover on an insured pedelec/bicycle.
Possible technical consequences:
• Changes resulting from tuning or modifications impair the function of the bike and may
result in defects or component failure.
• E-drive components may become very hot and overloaded, resulting in irreparable
damage or a fire hazard.
• Greater stress is placed on brakes and other pedelec components. Possible conse-
quences may include overheating, accelerated wear, malfunctions and even total
failure of the components.

19
SAFETY
9 Residual risks
Unavoidably, certain residual risks will remain when using the pedelec – despite a well-cal-
culated design by the manufacturer and compliance with the specifications for proper use
on the part of the user.
You yourself can reduce, but not completely eliminate, these residual risks by observing all
safety notices and warnings. It is therefore important that you are aware that residual risks
exist when using the pedelec.
The unpredictable residual risks when using the pedelec described here include:
• Unpredictable cycling manoeuvres and/or misconduct on the part of other road users;
• Distraction from the road traffic;
• Misjudging the road-holding capability and speed of the bicycle as well as your own
riding skills, for example;
• Surprising or sudden changes in road characteristics such as freezing rain or black ice;
• Unexpected material defects or signs of wear that can lead to components of the
pedelec breaking or being impaired in their function.

SAFETY

10 Safety notices
10.1 General safety information
WARNING
Risk of accident and injury!
reduce the general risk of accidents and injuries, you will expose yourself, and
possibly others, to an increased risk of serious injury.
»Only use your pedelec if you are familiar with handling it and its functions, and
always follow the instructions on the proper use of your pedelec.
»When using any approved special equipment or structures, please note that
doing so may alter how you handle your pedelec and adjust your cycling style
accordingly. When using recumbent or aero handlebars, access to the operating
elements may be restricted, for instance, and the stopping distance may be
longer than usual.
»Ride with foresight in order to recognise events early and to be able to react to
them.
»Always adapt your cycling style and speed to the current weather conditions
and road characteristics.
»Please note in particular that the braking distance can be longer and the tyres
have less grip on icy, wet, slippery or dirty roads.
»Pay attention to other road users and adopt a defensive cycling style.
»Always visually inspect your pedelec before using it. Make sure that your pedelec
or its components do not have any cracks, scoring, damage or colour changes.
»Make sure that safety-related devices on the pedelec (e.g. the brakes) are
correctly adjusted and functional.
»Never use your pedelec if safety-related components (e.g. the brakes) are
damaged or do not function properly.
»Under no circumstances should you arbitrarily exchange components on the
pedelec or make any changes or repairs to the pedelec or individual components.
Have any damage to the pedelec repaired by your specialist dealer and any
damaged components replaced only with suitable original spare parts.
