For thispurpose lhe small bolt m (Fie.e) opp;-
silethe film-winding key in lhe body is depressed

exposed film spool should be held losether bv
pressing it slighlly lo prevenl it from uriwindin6.
Seal it tighlly wilh the label furnished wilh eijr
spool and keep il until it is time lo develop.
The lower cmpry spool is lhen moved to tlie

The Diophrogm. - As lhe annexed direclions for operaling lhe
shulter indicate, evcry shuller is provlded with a diaphragm or slop
whidr can be reduced or enlarged at will. Iusl a few words aboul
how slops are used. If tt is inlended lo lake a piclure in whidr an
obiect in lhe foreground and the badrground with houses, moun-
lalng, lrees, &c. appear equally sharp, a stop is needed. By means
of a small lever menlloned In the directions lhe diaphragm can be
closed more or less lo oblain a beller depth of focus. The rule ls:
lhe rmaller the dlapbragm, lhe grealer lhe depth of focur
and thc longer lhe cxpo3ure. Snapshols reqrgre larger dia-
phragnrs and lime exposures smaller ones.

the shutter remaining open unlil lhe pressure cepies. In this woy,
very short as well aJ longer exposurcs are positble.
For lnrlanlaneoul and sbort llme cxporurcf of definite du-
ralion sel lhe disc lo lhe corresponding speed as indicated by
one of the numbers. 1 is equal to 1 second, 2 lo ,lr, 5 to 116,
1o lo l[s sec.,elc. Set the poinler to one of lhese figureq according
lo the time of exposure desired, and press lhe. release, the shutler
of course having been previously set. The shutter will lhen open,
remain open for the lime desired, and close agaln aulomallcally.
For inslanfaneous speeds lhe delaycd llme me&anfrm (auto-
malic release) can be employed. After lensioning sel lhe lime de-
slred and depress lhe red lever F. When lhe release is then pressed
lhe medranism delays lhe release of lhe shutlcr so lhat the aclual
cxposure is delaycd for a few seconds. The shuller is lhen sel

on lhe finger release A or lhe wire release wlll cause the shuller
lo unwlnd by openlng aulomallcally, remalntng open for lhe lime
sel, and closing agatn. The shuller ls tben ready again for llme
exposurcs afler the ring has been sel lo T or B, while every in-
slanlaneous exposure requires prevlous selling.
Gorrect Position of the ring G is lmportont! The Cbmpur
shuller is conslrucled so that tf lhe lelfers T and B arc on lhe Index
llne, lhe lension lever D is lodred, and in case of speeds rangtng
from 1 second lo maximum, lhe tlme medranism (T-B) is disen-
gaged, an arrangemenl whidr prevenls failures even if the camera
ls handled carelessly. The speeds increase wilhoul inlerrupllon
from 1 second lo 1/roo
sec.,and lt is posstble lo oblarn lntermediale
speeds by setling belween two figures, (for example, belween 1/6s
and 1[s6:rlzr sec.). No inlermediaie speeds are possible belween
r[sg and maximum speed (tlzw, tlzw, t/aoo)
or belween B and I

shuller, as ll will be hardly posslble afler selling.

lbe lever A or lhe wire release, whereupon lhe aulomalic release
will operale lhe shutler in aboul 12 seconds and exposure be made
according to lhe lime set. The shuller is now sel again for normal
work, and ll is necessarylo proceed 'as described if one wlshes lo
lake a piclure of oneself. The aulomallc release can be employed
for ail lnslanlaneous speeds slaled wtth the excepllon of the maxl-
mum oncs (llzno to t/soo).

concerned. In column El you find the number for lhe obiect to be
pholographed or for the subiecl conccrned, ln table C the number
for lighting, in table D lhe number for fhe senstlivily of the film,
and in column E the number of aperlure. The sum of lhese figures
slales in table F lhe lime of exposure*.
