4 SafetyInstrucons
Only use the device if it is in technically perfect condion, according to the intended purpose, in a safety and hazard conscious manner and in compliance
with the following safety instrucons:
• QualiedPersonnel
The assembly, installaon, connecon, commissioning and conguraon of the device may only be carried out by qualied personnel.
This also applies to the maintenance, inspecon and repair of the device in complying with the regulaons of the DIN VDE 0701-0702 series
of standards (VDE 0701-0702: “Inspecon aer repair, modicaon of electrical appliances – Periodic inspecon on electrical appliances –
General requirements for electrical safety”).
• Regulaons
The use of video and audio security/surveillance systems is, in general, strictly regulated.
Before using the device, inform yourself about the currently valid laws and regulaons regarding data, worker and environmental protecon and
ensure compliance with them.
• System Components
Only use internal components that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier.
Inappropriate internal components may cause malfuncons, damage and data loss and may result in the loss of warranty.

• Condensaon
If the device is brought from a cold to a warm environment, resulng condensaon may cause malfuncons and damage. In this case, wait unl the
device has reached room temperature (up to 8 hours) before commissioning.
• Earthing&EquipotenalBonding
For the safety of persons (protecon against dangerous contact voltages) and devices (protecon against over-voltages) as well as for the immunity
of informaon and communicaon technology equipment to electromagnec interferences (EMI), all protecve measures, which are specied by the
currently applicable DIN, VDE and ISO standards and which provide for a standard-compliant grounding/earthing and a correct equipotenal bonding
of electrical and electronic devices, are mandatory and must be fullled by all means.
• LightningStorms
To avoid damage to the device by electrical surge during lightning storms, all protecve measures, which are specied by the currently applicable DIN,
VDE and ISO standards and which provide for a standard-compliant lightning protecon equipotenal bonding, are mandatory and must be fullled
by all means.

• OperangCondions
Unfavorable operang condions may shorten the lifeme of the device, may cause malfuncons, damage and data loss and may result in the loss of
warranty.
Observe the specicaons given in the technical data, the operang condion requirements and the maintenance instrucons.
• ForeignBodiesintheDevice
If objects or liquids get into the device, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the power plug or disconnect the device from the
PoE enabled PSE port).
Contact the sales partner responsible for your area.
• BurntSmellfromtheDevice
If you noce burnt smell or a formaon of smoke coming from the device, immediately disconnect it from the power supply (pull out the power plug
or disconnect the device from the PoE enabled PSE port).

• Opening the Device
The device may only be opened by qualied personnel for commissioning, inspecon, maintenance and repair.
• Disposal of the Device
Do not dispose waste electrical and electronic equipment into the household trash.
Disconnect the device from the power supply.
Remove all connected peripherals.
Return the device to the sales partner responsible for your area.

5 General Notes
Scope of Delivery
The standard scope of delivery includes:
• 1× Hand tool for loosening and ghtening the housing ring
• 3× Mounng screw for xing the dome housing in suspended ceilings with a panel thickness of less than 9 mm or greater than 18 mm
• 1× Weidmüller plug-in connector BL 3.50/02/180 SN (female plug) for Power IN interface
• 1× Drilling template

The scope of delivery may dier depending on the ordered equipment, device variant or country of desnaon.
TransportaonandPackaging
Store the original packaging for later transportaon.
Dallmeier is not responsible for any damage resulng from unprofessional or improper transportaon.
The device should only be shipped in the original packaging.
If the original packaging is no longer available, ensure that the used packaging suciently protects the device against damage, moisture, heat and cold.

AppropriateUse
The MDF5450HD-DN is a high-resoluon single-sensor network camera with sheye lens for detailed capturing of a 360° panoramic eld of view within
a complete half-space (hemisphere – half of a sphere).
The lens-sensor unit of the device is built into an ultra-compact dome housing, the connected encoder unit into a separate box housing.
The device is designed for indoor installaons in suspended ceilings and can be operated with Power over Ethernet (PoE, Class 0, IEEE 802.3af) or
powered by an external 24 V DC power supply unit.
NOTICE

The device is exclusively designed for indoor use.
An outdoor installaon is prohibited and may result in malfuncon, damage, data loss and loss of warranty.

Operaon
➡Observe the following notes for operang the device:
• If the device or the cables connected to the device are located near sources with strong radiaon (e.g. radio transmiers, magnec elds), the video
image may be distorted.
• The device is equipped with Automac Gain Control (AGC). In low-light condions the image may be altered (e.g. noise). This is not a malfuncon.
• The video image quality depends on the lighng condions and the used monitor.
• The accuracy of the Automac White Balance (AWB) algorithm depends on the used lighng.
Mixed light (consisng of arcial light and daylight) may cause color distorons (inaccurate color reproducon).
• Poor lighng can lead to an incorrect white balance.

6 Requirements
AmbientCondions
The device is designed for indoor use.
However, the device may not be installed and operated in environments with
• a large amount of dust and dirt,
• steam or oil vapors (e.g. kitchen),
• direct sunlight,
• high heat radiaon (e.g. radiator),
• improper ambient temperatures,
• nearby strong radiaon sources (e.g. radio transmiers, magnec elds),
• corrosive gases and liquids (e.g. salt water),
• insucient air venlaon (e.g. closed cabinet).

Power Supply
The device can be operated with Power over Ethernet (PoE) and is compable with all Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) that is compliant with the
IEEE 802.3af PoE standard. Alternavely, the device can also be powered by an external 24 V DC power supply unit.

Risk of death or serious injury
➡The installaon of the device and the connecon of peripheral equipment may only be carried out by qualied personnel and in a
voltage-free state.
➡Before connecng or disconnecng an external DC power supply unit, make sure that the power supply unit is disconnected from the
mains socket (pull the power plug out of the socket).
➡Carry out all protecve measures for a standard-compliant grounding/earthing of the device in accordance with the currently
applicable DIN, VDE and ISO standards in order to ensure the safety of persons (protecon against dangerous contact voltages).
NOTICE
Damage to the device due to improper power supply

➡Always ensure the correct polarity when connecng an external DC power supply unit.
➡Do not operate the device with Power over Ethernet (PoE) if the device is powered by an external DC power supply unit.

Damage to electronic components caused by lightning strikes and over-voltages (electrical surges) or malfuncons due to

accordance with the currently applicable DIN, VDE and ISO standards in order to ensure the safety of the device (protecon against
over-voltages) and its immunity to electromagnec interferences (EMI).

If you operate the device with Power over Ethernet (PoE), observe the following notes:
NOTICE
DamagetothecontactsoftheRJ45connectorsbycontacterosionwhenun-mangthejack-plugconneconunderPoEload
Un-mang the jack-plug connecon while transming PoE power causes erosion and ping by electrical arcs on both the jack and plug
contacts (especially when repeatedly un-mang the jack-plug connecon under PoE load).
Electrical arcs are generated, since the electric potenal dierence (voltage) and therefore the intensity of the electric eld between the
contacts rises sharply when un-mang the jack-plug connecon.
The more un-mang cycles are carried out under PoE load, the higher the loss of contact material due to metal evaporaon by electrical
arcs, which in turn accelerates the material erosion process on the contact surfaces.
Damaged contacts with an increased contact resistance may lead to a reduced data transfer rate, unreliable network connecvity or even
total device failure.
➡Always disable PoE on the relevant port of your PoE switch (or PoE midspan device) or disconnect the used single-port PoE injector
from the power supply before un-mang the jack-plug connecon in order to prevent damage to the contacts of the RJ45 connectors
by contact erosion.

MaintenanceandInspeconoftheDevice
Maintenance and inspecon of the device may only be carried out by qualied personnel on compliance with the regulaons of the DIN VDE 0701-0702
series of standards (VDE 0701-0702: “Inspecon aer repair, modicaon of electrical appliances – Periodic inspecon on electrical appliances –
General requirements for electrical safety”).
Cleaning the Device
If it is necessary to clean the device, observe the following notes:
NOTICE

➡Clean the housing (outside) with a clean, so, dry and anstac cloth.
• Do not use detergents.
Damagetothelenselementduetoimpropercleaningpracces
➡Remove dust and other small parcles from the lens element with a suitable bulb blower and/or a special lens dust brush to avoid
scratching the lens.
• Do not use canned air or coon buds for cleaning the lens element.
➡To remove greasy dirt such as ngerprints, only use cleaning products (lens cleaning soluons, cleaning wipes, etc.) that are specially
designed for cleaning opcal surfaces.
• Do not use organic solvents (alcohol, benzine) for cleaning the lens element.
• Generally, be aware not to touch the lens element to avoid ngerprints.

8 InstallaonandCommissioning
The installaon and commissioning of the device may only be carried out by qualied personnel.
To install the device, you will need dierent tools/accessories depending on the panel thickness of the suspended ceiling (see below).
Requiredtools/accessoriesforsuspendedceilingswithapanelthicknessof9 – 18 mm:
• Drilling template with marking for the intended installaon hole (Ø 70 mm)
• Electrically powered jigsaw or hand saw (e.g. drywall ulity saw) for circular cut-outs or drilling machine with hole saw (Ø 70 mm);
the used tool type must be suitable for the respecve construcon material such as plasterboard, wood, plasc, metal, etc.
• Phillips*)-head screwdriver PH1 for xing the dome housing in the ceiling panel by means of swiveling retaining wings
• 4 screws (Ø 3.5 mm; length depending on panel thickness) for xing the encoder unit on the hidden side of the ceiling panel
Requiredtools/accessoriesforsuspendedceilingswithapanelthicknessoflessthan9 mmormorethan18 mm:
• Drilling template with markings for the intended installaon hole (Ø 70 mm) and the required drill holes (Ø 5 mm) when using anchors/dowels
• Tool (e.g. center punch or awl) for marking drill hole locaons through the drilling template
• Electrically powered jigsaw or hand saw (e.g. drywall ulity saw) for circular cut-outs or drilling machine with hole saw (Ø 70 mm);
the used tool type must be suitable for the parcular construcon material such as plasterboard, wood, plasc, metal, etc.
• Three screws (Ø 3 – 4 mm) for xing the dome housing and, depending on the construcon material of the ceiling panel, suitable anchors/dowels
• Drilling machine with drill bit (Ø 5 mm) when using anchors/dowels (type of drill bit suitable for the respecve construcon material)
• 4 screws (Ø 3.5 mm; length depending on panel thickness) for xing the encoder unit on the hidden side of the ceiling panel
WARNING

➡Before installing the device, follow the manufacturer’s instrucons regarding the maximum permissible carrying capacity of the
suspended ceiling or ceiling panel.
➡Only use screws and, if necessary, anchors/dowels that are suitable for the construcon material and thickness of the ceiling panel.

➡At the intended camera posion, cut a circular hole with a diameterofexactly70 mm into the ceiling panel using a suitable tool (e.g. a drilling
machine with hole saw or a drywall ulity saw).
When using an electrically powered jigsaw or a hand saw, you should rst draw a circle line with a radiusof35 mm around the center point to
ensure the specied diameter and roundness of the installaon hole.
If necessary, use the drilling template provided.
