Questions
Specifications
The DA4X-R comes with a 10
button IR Remote that is ar-
ranged in 2 groups of 5 but-
tons.
The DA4X-R can be pro-
grammed to respond to either
one of these groups.
The DA4X-R is initially pro-
grammed to use the right side
group of buttons. You may
want to re-program the unit to
use the left side buttons in the
following situations:
1. You have two DA4X-R
and want to operate them
separately.
2. You have an RGB4X-R
Component Video
Switcher and you want
them to switch in sync
with one button push
3. You like the left side bet-
ter!
Perform the following steps to
Re-program the DA4X-R
1-Remove power from the
unit by unplugging the 12VDC
Connector
2-Press and hold the front
panel button
3-Apply power to the unit.
4-Release the front panel but-
ton after the display stops
blinking.
Each time you perform this
operation you are alternating
the button group used on the
IR remote.

Q: Can I use both Toslink and Coax inputs?
A: Yes! The output will default to the coax input
if there is a signal present. If you turn off the
source feeding the Coax input, it will switch to the
Toslink input. Please note that some equipment
will send a signal even in the stop mode.
Q: I have a RGB4X-R Component Video
Switcher. How can I operate the DA4X-R so the
remote does not switch the RGB4X-R
A: See the “Remote Control” section on pro-
gramming the remote to use an alternate set of
remote buttons.
RS-232 Control Option
RS-232 serial control is provided through a
3.5mm stereo jack on the rear panel. A 3.5mm
to DB9 crossover cable is provided. Any Termi-
nal communications program such as Windows
“HyperTerminal” will work for control.
Communications parameters are: 9600,N,8,1.
See specifications for wiring information.
Once connected, pressing the Enter key will
cause the DA4X-R to respond with its help mes-
sage:
“DA4X-R Online! Type "S" for Status,
Numbers 1-4 for control.”
For current status, type the character “S” fol-
lowed by the “Enter” key. The current input is
returned.
To switch inputs, type numbers 1, 2, 3 or 4 then
“Enter” . The unit will switch inputs and return a
status message.
All other characters will return the help message.
If the DA4X-R is in a powered-off mode via the IR
remote control, any Serial port activity will restore
power.
