3. General safety warnings and instructions
Risk of explosion.
●Do not operate the device in the vicinity of highly flammable or explosive substances. The
instrument is not explosion-proof.
●Do not use this device for processing any substances which could generate an explosive atmosphere.
●Do not use this device to process any explosive or highly reactive substances.
Electric shock as a result of penetration of liquid.
●Do not allow any liquids to penetrate the inside of the housing
●Switch off the device and disconnect the power plug before starting cleaning or disinfection work.
The On/Off Switch on the device does not disconnect the device from the power source.
●Only plug the device back in if it is completely dry, both inside and outside.
Risk from incorrect supply voltage
●Only connect the device to an AC power source with a protective earth (PE).
●Only connect the device to voltage sources which correspondent to the electrical requirements on
the type label.

In the following cases, sample material can be released:
- improperly fixed agitator vessels
- unstable vessels

3.1. Warning signs on the device
This symbol indicates to read the instruction manual carefully prior to operation of the
instrument. Please mark points which require special attention in your field of
application so they are not overlooked. Disregarding of warnings may result in impairment of
serviceability as well as impairment of the user.

4. General Information
The shaking unit S 50 is designed in accordance with Safety Class 1, and built and tested in accordance with DIN EN IEC
61010-1 and DIN EN IEC 61326-1.
According to these regulations, the unit is designed to meet the requirements for safe and correct operations. To
maintain the proper safety and operational functions of the instrument, the user should follow the instructions and
safety guidelines in this manual.
5. Intended Use
The shaking unit S 50 is used for shaking up to 8 flasks of up to 500 ml.
It is designed for any vigorous laboratory shaking need.
The shaker S 50 is mainly to be used to mix hydrous solutions in glass vessels.
It is designed for use in chemical and biological laboratories of industrial enterprises, universities and pharmacies.
To ensure maximum service life, observe the specified ambient conditions (temperature and humidity) and ensure that
the instrument is not exposed to a corrosive atmosphere.
6. Unpacking
Unpack the instrument carefully and check to see that it is not damaged. It is important that any damage incurred in
transport be recognized at the time of unpacking. Notify your carrier or forwarding agent immediately in case of such
damage.
7. Set up of instrument
Secure the 2 shaking arms on the left and right hand side shaft, so that the two allan screws can be pressed onto the
two flat ends of the jut out shaft stumps; in doing so push the 2 shaking arms completely into the jut out shaft stumps.
Mount the three-finger holding clamps so that the flasks to be held will be in an upright position. The flasks should be
well balanced and mounted symmetrically on the shaker.
Be sure that the three-finger holding clamps are screwed securely in place. In addition check that the
flasks are securely held by the clamps. Make sure that the instrument will not come into contact with
any object surrounding the unit.
Be sure that the rubber coverings on the three-finger holding clamps are intact and have no holes. The metal of the
clamps should not come into contact with the flask during the shaking operation as breakage may result.
Be sure to place the instrument on a level table. Allow for sufficient free space around the instrument
to prevent anything from being knocked during the shaking operation. See safety and operation
instructions before attempting to operate the instrument.
Always mount the flasks on the instrument so that the load is well balanced. When all 8 holders are
not to be used, start symmetrically with the inner clamp first, and then use the outer clamps. The entire
unit may shake if it is loaded in an unbalanced manner. In addition the unit may begin to „walk away“. Should this
happen mount another flask filled with enough liquid to balance the unit.
Before plugging the unit into mains be sure that the unit has been turned to the „OFF“ (middle) position
and that the speed has been turned down to the lowest point (100 rpm). Always start with the lowest
speed and then increase to the desired shaking frequency. If the entire unit starts to shake or walk away, decrease the
speed accordingly.

8. Operation
The shaker S 50 can hold up to 8 Erlenmeyer flasks of up to 500 ml. The opto-electronically controlled motor
guarantees even and intensive shaking frequency between 100 –800 rpm.
The unit is turned on by the use of the power switch.
The timer can be used to control the length of shaking time. The unit will automatically turn off after the set time
has elapsed.
The centre on/off switch has 3 positions:
a) Turning the switch upwards is for continuous use without the timer.
b) The middle position is for „OFF“
c) Turning the switch downwards allows the timer to be used.
The timer may be set so that the unit will turn off automatically after the set period has elapsed. The timer may be set
for a period of 1 to 60 minutes.
When the timer is set, both yellow lights will be on and the unit will begin the shaking operation. When the set time
has elapsed both lights will turn off and the unit will stop the shaking operation.
The shaking frequency is regulated by the speed knob. Always make sure that the shaking frequency is not set too high
as it may cause damage to the instrument or the flasks by hitting the surroundings. Always start the speed at the lowest
possible shaking frequency (100 rpm).
9. Maintenance
All joints of this unit are of ball bearings; this means that no special maintenance is required. The drive motor is a DC
motor with carbon brushes. The life of the carbon brushes depends on the frequency of use of the unit. Should the
carbon brushes need to be exchanged, they should be done so by a knowledgeable service repairman. Replacement
brushes may be obtained by your distributor or the manufacturer.
Before doing any repair work, disconnect the mains first!
10.Cleaning
The housing is acid-resistance covered for long lasting use and easy cleaning.
For periodic cleaning, the unit may be cleaned with warm water and dishwashing liquid.
To remove crust or lime build-up and water rings use a regular household cleaner. Remove excess cleaner with a damp
cloth or sponge.
Do not use steel wool or a similar scratching sponge to clean the unit.

11.Maintenance and Repair Information
Due to safety and the warranty the shaker S 50 should only be opened and repaired by authorized service
personnel. Any work on the electronics of the unit should only be done by knowledgeable and trained
personnel. Any attempt by the user to repair the unit will cancel the warranty.
The shaker S 50 is designed in accordance with safety class I and built and tested in accordance with DIN VDE 0700 Part
1/4.88 (HD 251 S1, Amendment 1) in connection with design DIN VDE 0700 Part6A8/04.89, safety regulations for
electrical instruments. According to these regulations, the unit is designed to meet the requirements for safe and
correct operations. To maintain the proper safety and operational functions of the instrument the user should follow
the instructions and safety guidelines in this manual.
12.Warranty
The manufacturer agrees to correct for the original user of this product, either by repair, or at the manufacturer's
discretion, by replacement, any defects in material or workmanship which develop within 12 months after delivery of
this product to the original user. In the event of replacement, the replacement unit will be warranted for the remainder
of the original twelve (12) month period of ninety (90) days, whichever is longer.
If this product should require service, contact your distributor or manufacturer for necessary instructions.
This warranty shall not apply if the defect or malfunction was caused by accident, neglect, unreasonable use, improper
service, or other causes not arising out of defects in material or workmanship.
There are no warranties, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, those of merchantability or fitness for a
particular purpose, which extended beyond the description and period set forth herein.
The manufacturer's sole obligation under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of a defective product
and the manufacturer shall not, in any event, be liable for any incidental or consequential damages of any kind resulting
from use or possession of the product.

16. Allgemeine Information
Das Schüttelgerät S 50 entspricht der Schutzklasse 1. Es wurde gem. DIN EN IEC 61010-1 und DIN EN IEC 61326-1
gefertigt und geprüft. Das Gerät hat das Werk in sicherheitstechnisch einwandfreiem Zustand verlassen. Um diesen
Zustand zu erhalten und einen gefahrlosen Betrieb sicherzustellen, muss der Anwender die Hinweise und
Warnvermerke beachten, die in dieser Betriebsanleitung enthalten sind.
Untersuchen Sie den äußeren Karton, der das Instrument umgibt. Achten Sie auf Beschädigungen wie z.B. eingedrückte
Wände, chemische Beeinträchtigungen des Kartons, Wassermarken, oder andere physikalische Einflüsse, die den Inhalt
beschädigt haben könnten. Bei Beschädigungen informieren Sie bitte sofort den Spediteur und fragen Sie nach den
notwendigen Maßnahmen.
Wenn es keine sichtbare Beschädigung des äußeren Kartons gibt, dann öffnen Sie diesen vorsichtig.

Die Geräte sind standardmäßig mit einem EURO-Stecker (DIN 49441-R2 CEE 7/ VII 16 A 250 V)
versehen. Für Nordamerika mit einem US-Norm Stecker (NEMA Pub.No.WDI1961 ASA C 73.1. 1961
Seite 8 15A 125V).
Falls Sie das Gerät in einem Land mit anderem Stecker-System betreiben möchten, müssen Sie
einen zugelassenen Adapter verwenden oder der mitgelieferte Stecker muss durch einen Fachmann
ausgewechselt und durch einen für dieses Netz passenden und zugelassenen Stecker ersetzt
werden.
Bei Lieferung ist das Gerät geerdet. Beim Auswechseln des Originalsteckers achten Sie bitte
unbedingt darauf, dass Schutzleiter am neuen Stecker angeschlossen wird!

18.Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Der Schüttler S 50 ist ein Universal-Schüttler, der zum Schütteln von bis zu 8 Erlenmeyer-Kolben mit je 500 ml
Fassungsvermögen in chemischen und pharmazeutischen Laboratorien, sowie Schulen und Universitäten eingesetzt
werden kann.
Die Grundvoraussetzung für den dauerhaften Einsatz ist die Einhaltung der maximal zulässigen
Umgebungstemperaturen (Temperatur und Feuchtigkeit) sowie eine korrosionsfreie Atmosphäre.
19.Zusammenbau und Aufstellen des Gerätes
Wir bitten darauf zu achten, dass das Gerät frei steht und nirgendwo anstoßen kann. Die in den Technischen
Daten angegebenen zulässigen Umgebungsbedingungen sind zu beachten, insbesondere Netzspannung und
Sicherheitshinweise.
Befestigen Sie die beiden Schüttelarme links und rechts an den beiden hervorstehenden Wellen so, dass die beiden
Inbusschrauben auf die abgeflachten Enden der hervorstehenden Wellenstummel drücken können. Dabei die beiden
Schüttelarme ganz in die vorstehenden Wellenstummel einschieben.
Montieren Sie jetzt die Dreifinger-Halteklammern so, dass die zu haltenden Glasteile alle senkrecht stehen und

Achten Sie darauf, dass das Schüttelgerät auf einem stabilen Arbeitstisch oder auf dem Fußboden steht und
nirgendwo anstoßen kann. Entfernen Sie in der Nähe stehende Gegenstände, die durch die Vibrationen
erschüttert oder beschädigt werden können.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Dreifinger-Halteklammern fest an ihrem Schüttelarm angeschraubt sind. Befestigen
Sie gleichfalls die zu schüttelnden Gefäße fest an den Dreifinger-Halteklammern und überprüfen Sie, dass keines
der Gefäße zu nahe an ein anderes oder an das Gehäuse oder ein in der Nähe befindlichen Gegenstand kommen kann.
20.Sicherheitshinweise
Warnung:
Achten Sie darauf, dass die Flüssigkeit nicht beim Schütteln spritzen kann. Verwenden Sie Gefäße mit
genügend hohen Wänden oder reduzieren Sie den Stand der Flüssigkeit oder verwenden Sie eine
Abdeckung auf Ihrem Gefäß. Zu Ihrer eigenen Sicherheit verwenden Sie bei Gefahr Schutzgläser und
ziehen Sie sich entsprechende Sicherheitskleidung an.

Diese Betriebsanleitung kann Sie nicht auf alle möglichen Sicherheitsprobleme hinweisen die durch
Verwendung dieses Gerätes, der dort verwendeten Chemikalien, Reagenzien usw. verursacht werden
können. Spezielle Verfahren und Prozeduren können Reaktionen hervorrufen, für die Sie als
Bedienungspersonal allein verantwortlich sind. Es steht deshalb in Ihrer Verantwortung, sich

21.Inbetriebnahme
(1) Überprüfen Sie, ob die auf dem Gerät angegebene Spannung mit der Ihres Netzes übereinstimmt. Bevor Sie den
Stecker ins Netz stecken sorgen Sie dafür, dass das Gerät ausgeschaltet ist. Nachdem Sie die Schüttelarme fest
montiert haben, bringen Sie die zu schüttelnden Gefäße an Ihren Platz und sorgen Sie für feste Halterung in den
Dreifinger-Halteklammern
(2) Der Hauptschalter in der Mitte des Frontpanels des Gerätes hat drei Stellungen:
- Nach oben geschaltet ist normal "EIN"
-in der Mitte "AUS"
-nach unten wird das Gerät über die Zeitschaltuhr gesteuert
-Wenn die Zeituhr eingestellt ist, leuchten beide gelbe Leuchten und das Gerät fängt an zu schütteln. Mit Ablauf
der Zeituhr gehen beide Leuchten aus und die Schüttelbewegung hört auf.
-Die Schüttelgeschwindigkeit wird durch den rechten Drehknopf eingestellt. Achten Sie stets darauf, dass die
Schüttelgeschwindigkeit nicht zu hoch gewählt wird, da sonst Beschädigungen am Gerät, an den Schüttelgefäßen
und am Schüttelgut entstehen können. Beginnen Sie stets die Schüttelintensität von der langsamen
Geschwindigkeit (20 U/min) nach oben zu regeln.
22.Wartungshinweise
Hinweis zur Reparatur / Wartung
Alle Gelenke dieses Schüttlers sind kugelgelagert, d.h. die bedürfen keiner besonderen Wartung. Als
Antriebsmotor ist ein 230 Volt Gleichstrommotor eingesetzt, der Kohlebürsten hat. Die Standzeit
dieser Kohlebürsten ist auf lange Lebensdauer ausgelegt. Sollten sie getauscht werden müssen, so
ist dies von einem Fachmann auszuführen. Ersatzkohlen und eine Anleitung für den Austausch sind
über die Vertriebsorganisation oder den Hersteller zu beziehen.
23.Allgemeine Reinigungshinweise
Das säurefest lackierte Gehäuse ist weitgehend chemisch resistent und leicht zu reinigen.
Die verschmutzten Flächen reinigen Sie am besten mit warmem Wasser und ein paar Tropfen Spülmittel.


Für allfälligen Kundendienst ist der Händler oder der Hersteller einzuschalten.
Diese Garantie wird nicht gewährt, wenn der Defekt oder die Fehlfunktion verursacht wird durch Unfall, Nachlässigkeit,
unsachgemäßen Gebrauch, unsachgemäßen Service und andere Gründe, die nicht auf fehlerhaftes Material oder
Verarbeitung zurückzuführen sind.
Sämtliche Garantie- und Gewährleistungsansprüche sind beschränkt auf die Fachgerechte und Sachgemäße
Anwendung des Gerätes unter Beachtung der allgemeinen Sicherheitsvorschriften und dieser Betriebsanleitung. Der
Hersteller ist zu keinerlei anderen Leistungen als den in dieser Garantieerklärung enthaltenen verpflichtet.
Insbesondere sind Personen- und Sachschäden, die als Folge von fehlerhaften Teilen oder sonstigen Funktionsfehlern
auftreten, von der Haftung ausgeschlossen.
Die Verpflichtung des Herstellers ist im Umfang begrenzt auf die Reparatur oder in Austausch von fehlerhaften Teilen.
