PORTABLE POWER PRODU T WARRANTY
Ingersoll-Rand, through its distributor, warrants that each
itemofequipmentmanufactured byit anddelivered hereun-
der to the initial user will be free of defects in material and
workmanship for a period of three (3) months from initial
operation or six (6) months from the date of shipment to the
initial user, whichever occurs first.
With respect to the following types of equipment, the war-
ranty period enumerated below will apply in lieu of the fore-
going warranty period.
A. Aftercoolers – The earlier of nine (9) months from date
ofshipment toor six(6) monthsfrom initialoperation by
initial user.
B. Portable Compressors, Portable Generator Sets
–9 Kva through to 550 Kva, Portable Light Tow-
ers and Air Dryers –The earlier of twelve (12) months
from shipment to or the accumulation of 2,000 hours of
operation by the initial user.
2.5 Kva Through to 8 Kva –The earlier of twelve (12)
months from shipment to or the accumulation of 2,000
hours of operation by the initial user.
Ingersoll-Rand will provide a new part or repaired part,
at it’s sole discretion,in place of any part which is found
to be defective in material or workmanship during the
period described above. Labour cost to replace the part
is the responsibility of the initial user.
C. PortableCompressorAirEnds –Theearlieroftwenty-
four(24) monthsfromshipment toorthe accumulationof
4,000hours ofoperation bytheinitial user. ForAirEnds,
thewarranty against defects willincludereplacement of
the complete Air End, provided the original Air End is
returned assembled and all original seals are intact.
D. Portable Compressor Airend Limited Extended
Warranty –The earlier of sixty (60) months from ship-
mentto orthe accumulationof 10,000hours ofoperation
by the initial user. This extended warranty is limited to
defects in design or defective material or workmanship
in rotors,housings, bearings and gears and provided all
the following conditions are met:
1. The original air end is returned assembled and all
original seals are intact.
2. Continueduse ofgenuine Ingersoll-Randparts,fluids,
oil and filters.
3. intervals by authorised and properly trained service
engineers.
E. Generator Alternator –9 Kva through to 550 Kva,
the earlier of twenty-four (24) months from shipment to
or the accumulation of 4,000 hours of operation by the
initial user.
2.5 Kva Through to 8Kva –The earlier of twelve (12)
months from shipment to or the accumulation of 2,000
hours of operation by the initial user.
F. Portable Light Tower Alternator –The earlier of
twelve (12) months from shipment to or the accumu-
lation of 2,000 hours of operation by the initial user.
Light Source model only, the earlier of twenty-four (24)
months from shipment to or the accumulation of 4,000
hours of operation by the initial user.
G. Ingersoll-Rand Engines –The earlier of twenty-four
(24) months from shipment to or the accumulation of
4,000 hours of operation by the initial user.
H. Ingersoll-Rand Platinum Drive Train Limited Ex-
tended Warranty –Platinum drive train refers ot the
Ingersoll-RandEngine andAirendcombination. The ear-
lierof sixty(60)months from shipmentto,ortheaccumu-
lationof10,000 hoursofoperation bytheinitial user. The
starter,alternator,fuelinjectionsystem andall electrical
components are excluded from this extended warranty.
The airend seal and drive coupling are included in the
warranty but airend drive belts are excluded. This lim-
ited extended warranty is automatically available when
meeting the following conditions:
1. The original airend is returned assembled and un-
opened.
2. Continueduse ofgenuine Ingersoll-Randparts,fluids,
oil and filters.
3. Maintenance is performed at prescribed intervals by
authorised and properly trained service engineers.
I. 1. Construction Tools, (Portable Power range
only) –Twelve months from shipment to initial user.
Ingersoll-Rand will provide a new part or repaired part,
at it’s sole discretion,in place of any part which is found
to be defective in material or workmanship during the
period described above. Labour cost to replace the part
is the responsibility of the initial user.
2. Construction Tools Limited Extended War-
ranty, (Portable Power range only) –Thirty-six (36)
months from shipment to initial user. This extended
warranty is automatically available only when the tool
is registered with Ingersoll-Rand by completing and
submitting the Warranty Registration form. Ingersoll-
Rand will provide a new part or repaired part, at it’s
sole discretion, in place of any part which is found to be
defective in material or workmanship during the period
described above. Labour cost to replace the apart is the
responsibility of the initial user.
J. Spare Parts –Six (6) months from date of shipment to
the initial user.Ingersoll-Rand will provide a new part or
repaired part, at its sole discretion, in place of any part
thatisfoundto bedefectivein materialandworkmanship
during the period described above. Such parts will be
repaired or replaced without charge to the initial user
during normal working hours at the place of business of
an Ingersoll-Rand distributor authorised to sell the type
ofequipment involvedorother establishmentauthorised
by Ingersoll-Rand. User must present proof of purchase
atthe timeof exercisingwarranty. Theabovewarranties
do not apply to failures occurring as a result of abuse;
misuse,negligent repairs, corrosion,erosion and normal
wear and tear, alterations or modifications made to the
product without express written consent of Ingersoll-
Rand; or failure to follow the recommended operating
practices and maintenance procedures as provided in
the product’s operating and maintenance publications.
Accessories or equipment furnished by Ingersoll-Rand,
but manufactured by others, including, but not limited
to, engines, tires, batteries, engine electrical equipment,
hydraulic transmissions, carriers, shall carry only the
manufacturerswarranty,whichIngersoll-Rand canlaw-
fully assign to the initial user.

IR9PS and IR12PS Pick Hammers are designed for the disintegration of low to medium strength materials (e. g. concrete,
masonry bituminous asphalt etc). The tool is intended for vertical or inclined downward breaking.

consulted.

PLA ING TOOL IN SERVI E
•Always operate, inspect and maintain this tool in accor-
dance with all regulations (local, state, federal and
country), that may apply to hand held/hand operated
pneumatic tools.
•For safety, top performance, and maximum durability
of parts, operate this tool at 103 psig (7.0 bar/700 kPa)
maximum air pressure at the inlet with 3/4”(19 mm)
inside diameter air supply hose.
•Always turn off the air supply and disconnect the air
supply hose before installing,removing or adjusting any
accessory on this tool, or before performing any mainte-
nance on this tool.
•Donot usedamaged,frayed ordeterioratedair hosesand
fittings.
•Be sure all hoses and fittings are the correct size and
are tightly secured. See Dwg. PP1 for a typical piping
arrangement.
•Always use clean, dry lubricated air at 103 psig (7.0 bar/
700 kPa) maximum air pressure. Dust, corrosive fumes
and/or excessive moisture can ruin the motor of an air
tool.
•Do not lubricate tools with flammable or volatile liquids
such as kerosene, diesel or jet fuel.
•Do not remove any labels. Replace any damaged label.
USING THE TOOL
•Always weareyeprotection whenoperatingor performing
maintenance on this tool.
•Always wear hearing protection when operating this
tool.
•Keep hands, loose clothing and long hair away from ro-
tating end of tool.
•Anticipate and be alert for sudden changes in motion
during start up and operation of any power tool.
•Keep body stance balanced and firm. Do not overreach
when operating this tool.
•Tool accessories may continue to impact briefly after
throttle is released.
•Airpowered toolscanvibrate inuse.Vibration,repetitive
motions or uncomfortable positions may be harmful to
your hands and arms. Stop using any tool if discomfort,
tingling feeling or pain occurs. Seek medical advice be-
fore resuming use.
•Use accessories recommended by Ingersoll-Rand.
•This tool is not designed for working in explosive atmo-
spheres.
•This tool is not insulated against electric shock.
The use of other than genuine Ingersoll-Rand replacement parts may result in safety hazards, decreased tool
performance, and increased maintenance, and may invalidate all warranties.

trigger, always be sure that the gloves will not prevent
the trigger from being released.

ing while operating the tool.

•Be sure all hose connections are tight.A loose hose not

whipping under pressure, can injure the operator and
others in the area. Attach safety cables to all hoses to
prevent injury in case a hose is accidentally broken.
•Neverdisconnect apressurisedair hose.Alwaysturnoff
the air supply and bleed the tool before disconnecting
a hose.
•The operator must keep limbs and body clear of the
chisel.If achisel breaks,the toolwith thebroken chisel
projecting from the tool will suddenly surge forward.
•Donot ridethe toolwithone legover thehandle. Injury
can result if the chisel breaks while riding the tool.
•Know what is underneath the material being worked.
Be alert for hidden water,gas,sewer, telephone or elec-
tric lines.
•Use only proper cleaning solvents to clean parts. Use
only cleaning solvents which meet current safety and
health standards.Use cleaning solvents in a well-ven-
tilated area.
•Do not flush the tool or clean any parts with diesel fuel.
Diesel fuel residue will ignite in the tool when the tool
isoperated,causing damageto internalparts.When us-
ingmodels withoutside triggersor throttlelevers,take
care when setting the tool down to prevent accidental
operation.
•Do not operate the tool with broken or damaged
parts.
•Never start the tool when it is lying on the ground.
•Thistool is not designed forworking inexplosive atmo-
spheres.

PLA ING TOOL IN SERVI E
LUBRI ATION
Protec Engine Oil
Always use an air line lubricator with these tools. We
recommend the following Lubricator–
Unit and Lubricant:
In Line Lubricator: CPN: 35371111
Lubricant: Protec Engine Oil CPN: 85448405
Attach the lubricator as close to the tool as practical.
After each two or three hours of operation and at the be-
ginning of each work shift, if an air line lubricator is not
used, disconnect the air hose and pour about 3 cc of oil into
the air inlet of the tool.
Before storing the tool or if the tool is to be idle for a period
exceeding twenty-four hours, pour about 3 cc of oil into the
air inlet and operate the tool for 5 seconds to coat the inter-
nal parts with oil.
INSTALLATION
Air Supply and Connections
Always use clean, dry lubricated air. Dust, corrosive fumes
and/or excessive moisture can ruin the motor of an air tool.
An air line filter can greatly increase the life of an air tool.
The filter removes dust and moisture.
Make sure all hoses and fittings are the correct size and
are tightly secured. See diagram PP1 for a typical piping
arrangement.
Thetool isshipped from thefactory with3/4”NPT maleinlet
thread and quick release coupling.
OPERATION
Accessory Installation
Always turn off the air supply and disconnect the air
supply hose before installing, removing or adjusting
any accessory on this tool or before performing any
maintenance on this tool. Failure to do so could result
in injury.
For Screw –on type Retainer
1. Grasp the Retainer and unscrew from the Barel.
2. Insertthe accessory through the RetainerAssembly and
install it on the tool. Screw the Retainer onto the barrel
until you feel the Retainer O-ring drop into the groove
in the Retainer.
For Latch Type Retainer
1. Operate the Latch until it is approximately 90 degrees
to the body of the tool and clicks into position.
2. Insert the accessory into the tool until the collar of the
accessory is past the Latch.
3. Operate the Latch until it is parallel to the tool and it
clicks into position.
Do not repair the tool at the work site.Always take
the tool to a repair shop. Never drag the tool on the
ground.The air port and other openings will become clogged
with dirt and debris.
Compressed air is dangerous. When blowing the line clear
of dirt, wear eye protection and keep the air line directed
toward a safe, clear area.
Always blow out the air line before using to clear the line
of dirt.
Do not operate the tool unless the chisel is against
the work since this will cause premature wear of
parts and reduce the vibration isolation properties
of the tool.
Always breakmaterialtothe pointof“give.”Crackingdoesnot
result in a complete break.Clear away rubble as it is broken
since uncleared rubble blocks the point of “give.”
Always takethe rightsize“bite”with thetool.When working
newmaterial,experiment tofindthe rightsize“bite”required
for breaking that material efficiently.
If “bites”are too big, the operator will try to pry with
the tool. This could break the chisel. The tool is de-
signed for demolition, not prying. Always use a pick
for prying. If “bites”are to small, the operator will be
working too slowly.
If the chisel or accessory should become stuck, do not use
excessive force or mechanical means on the tool to pull out
the chisel.Doing so will damage the vibration isolation unit.
Break out the stuck chisel with a spare chisel or tool.

MISE EN SERVICE DE L’OUTIL
• Cet outil doit toujours être exploité inspecté et en tretenu con-
formé ment à toutes les réglementations (locales dé par te men tales
fédérales et nationales) ap pli cables aux outils pneumatiques te-
nus/commandés à la main.
• Pour la sécurité les performances optimales et la du ra bil ité max i-
male des pièces cet outil doit être connecté à une al i men ta tion
d’air comprimé de 7 0 bar (700 kPa) maximum à l’entrée avec
un fl exible de 19 mm de di amètre in té rieur.
• Couper toujours l’alimentation d’air comprimé et débranch er
le fl exible d’alimentation avant d’installer déposer ou ajuster
tout accessoire sur cet outil ou d’entreprendre une opération
d’entretien quelconque sur l’outil.
• Ne pas utiliser des fl exibles ou des raccords en dom magés ef-
fi lochés ou détériorés.
• S’assurer que tous les fl exibles et les raccords sont cor rect e ment
dimensionnés et bien serrés. Voir Plan PP1 pour un exemple type
d’agencement des tuyauteries.
• Utiliser toujours de l’air sec et propre à une pression max i mum
de 7 0 bar (700 kPa). La poussière les fumées corrosives et/ou
une humidité excessive peuvent en dom mag er le moteur d’un outil
pneumatique.
• Ne jamais lubrifi er les outils avec des liquides in fl am ma bles
ou volatiles tels que le kérosène le gasoil ou le carburant
d’aviation.
• Ne retirer aucune étiquette. Remplacer toute étiquette en-
dom magée.

UTILISATION DE L’OUTIL
• Porter toujours des lunettes de protection pendant l’utilisation et
l’entretien de cet outil.
• Porter toujours une protection acoustique pendant l’utilisation de
cet outil.
• Tenir les mains les vêtements fl ous et les cheveux longs éloi gnés
de l’extrémité rotative de l’outil.
• Prévoir et ne pas oublier que tout outil motorisé est sus cep ti ble
d’à-coups brusques lors de sa mise en marche et pendant son
util i sa tion.
• Garder une position équilibrée et ferme. Ne pas se pencher trop
en avant pendant l’utilisation de cet outil.
• La percussion des accessoires de l’outil peut continuer pen dant
un certain temps après le relâchement de la gâ chette.
• Les outils pneumatiques peuvent vibrer pendant l’exploitation.
Les vibrations les mouvements répétitifs et les po si ti ons in con-
fort a bles peuvent causer des douleurs dans les mains et les bras.
N’utiliser plus d’outils en cas d’inconfort de pi cote ments ou de
douleurs. Con sult er un médecin avant de recommencer à utiliser

• Lorsque vous portez des gants et que vous utilisez un outil à
gâchette intérieure vérifi ez toujours que les gants n’empêcheront
pas le relâchement de la gâchette.
• Lorsque vous utilisez cet outil portez des chaussures de sécu rité
un casque des lunettes de sécurité des gants un masque et tout
autre vêtement de protection approprié.
• Ne jouez pas avec l’outil. Toute distraction peut causer un ac ci-
dent.
• Tenez vos mains et vos doigts éloignés du levier de com mande
lorsque vous n’utilisez pas l’outil.
• Ne posez jamais l’outil sur les pieds.
• Ne pointez jamais l’outil vers quelqu’un.
• L’air comprimé est dangereux. Ne pointez jamais un fl exible d’air
comprimé sur vous ou vos collègues.
• Ne nettoyez jamais la poussière de vos vêtements avec un jet d’air
comprimé.
• Vérifi ez le serrage de toutes les connexions d’air comprimé. Un
fl exible desserré peut non seulement fuir mais aussi se détacher
complètement de l’outil et l’effet de fouet causé par la pression
peut blesser l’opérateur ou d’autres personnes à proximité. At-
tach er des câbles de sécurité sur le fl exible pour empêcher toute
blessure au cas où le fl exible serait ac ci den tel le ment coupé.
• Ne débranchez jamais un fl exible sous pression.
• Coupez toujours l’alimentation d’air commprimé et purgez l’outil
avant de débrancher un fl exible.

MISE EN GARDE SPÉCIFIQUES
• Tenez vos bras et vos jambes éloignés du burin. En cas de rup ture
du burin l’outil et le reste du burin seront vi o lem ment pro jetés
vers l’avant.
• Ne montez jamais sur l’outil avec une jambe par dessus la poi gnée.
La rupture du burin pourrait vous blesser.
• N’oubliez pas que des dangers peuvent se trouver sous la sur face
où vous travaillez. Prenez soin de ne pas couper des tuyaux d’eau
de gaz ou d’égout des câbles électriques ou de téléphone.
• N’utilisez que des solvants de nettoyage appopriés pour net toy er
les pièces. Utilisez seulement les solvants ré pon dant aux ré gle men-
ta tions de santé et de sécurité en vigueur et dans une zone bien
aérée.
• Ne rincez jamais l’outil ou les pièces dans du gazole. Les ré si dus
de gazole pourraient s’enfl ammer dans l’outil lors de sa mise en
marche et causer l’endommagement des pièces internes. Lor sque
vous utilisez des modèles à gâ chette ex térieure ou à levier de
commande posez soigneusement l’outil pour empêcher toute
mise en marche ac ci den tel le.
• N’utilisez jamais un outil ayant des pièces cassées ou en-
dom magées.
• Ne mettez jamais l’outil en marche lorsqu’il est posé au sol.

LUBRIFICATION
Huile pour moteur Protec
Utiliser toujours un lubrifi cateur avec ces outils. Nous
recommandons l’emploi –lubrifi cateur – Unité -Lubrifi ant:
Lubrifi cateur en ligne: Cpn:35371111
Lubrifi ant: Huile pour moteur Protec Cpn:85448405
Connecter le lubrifi cateur aussi près que possible de l’outil.
Toutes les deux ou trois heures de fonctionnement et au début de
chaque session de travail si un lubrifi cateur de ligne n’est pas utilisé
débrancher le fl exible d’alimentation et verser environ 3 cm3 d’huile
dans le raccord d’admission de l’outil.
Avant de stocker l’outil ou si l’on ne prévoit pas
d’utiliser l’outil avant vingt–quatre heures verser
environ 3 cm3 d’huile dans le raccord d’admission et faire fonc tion ner
l’outil pendant 5 secondes pour recouvrir toutes les pièces in ternes
d’huile.
INSTALLATION
Alimentation et raccords d’air comprimé
Utiliser toujours de l’air comprimé lubrifi é sec. La poussière les fu-
mées corrosives et/ou une humidité excessive peuvent en dom mag er
le moteur d’un outil pneumatique. Un fi ltre d’air comprimé peut net-
tement prolonger la durée de vie d’un outil pneumatique. Le fi ltre
élimine les poussières et l’humidité.
Vérifi er que tous les tuyaux fl exibles et raccords sont
correctement dimensionnés. Voir Plan PP1 pour un exemple type
d’agencement des tuyauteries.
L’outil est expédié de l’usine avec un raccord d’entrée mâle fi leté de
3/4” NPT et déclencher rapidement l’accouplement.
FONCTIONNEMENT
Montage des accessoires
Couper toujours l’alimentation d’air comprimé et
débrancher le fl exible d’alimentation avant d’installer, déposer
ou ajust er tout accessoire sur cet outil, ou d’entreprendre une
opération d’entretien quelconque sur l’outil. Le non respect de
ces instructions pourrait conduire à des blessures.
Douille de retenue tpe décaleur
1. Saisir la douille et la dévisser du cylindre.
2. Insérer le burin dans l'ensemble de douille de retenue et le monter
sur l'outil. Visser la douille sur le cylindre jusqu'à ce que l'anneau
torique tombe dans la gorge de la douille.
Douille de retenue à loquet
1. Actionner le loquet jusqu’à ce qu’il soit à 90 degrés par rapport
au corps de l’outil et s’enclenche en position.
2. Insérer le burin dans l’outil jusqu’à ce que le collet du burin ait
dépassé le loquet.
3. Ramener le loquet parallèle à l’outil pour qu’il s’enclenche en
position.
Ne jamais réparer un outil sur le chantier. Envoyer toujours l’outil à un
atelier de réparation. Ne jamais traîner l’outil sur le sol. L’orifi ce d’air
et autres ouvertures seraient bouchés par les saletés et les débris.
L’air comprimé est dangereux. Pour souffl er les saletés du circuit
porter des lunettes de protection et diriger le fl exible vers une zone
propre et sûre.
Toujours purger le circuit d’air comprimé avant de l’utiliser pour
souf fl er les saletés du circuit.
Ne pas mettre l’outil en marche tant que le burin n’est pas appuyé
contre la pièce pour ne pas causer l’usure pré ma tu rée des pièces et
réduire les propriétés anti–vibrantiles de l’outil.
Toujours casser le matériau au point de ”rupture”. La fi ssuration ne
cause pas une rupture complète. Dégager les morceaux au fur et à
mesure pour ne pas bloquer le reste du travail.
Toujours travailler sur des morceaux de taille adaptée à l’outil. Sur de
nouveaux matériaux tester différentes tailles pour déterminer la taille
produisant la taille correspondante à la capacité de l’outil.
Si les morceaux sont trop gros, l’opérateur se servira du piqueur
com me d’un levier. Ceci peut causer la rupteur du burin. Le pi-
queur est conçu pour la démolition et ne doit pas être utilisé com me
un levier. Utiliser toujours un pic comme levier. Si les morceaux
sont trop petits, l’opérateur travaillera trop lentement.
Si le burin ou un autre accessoire se coince ne pas utiliser une force
excessive ou des moyens mécaniques pour extraire le burin sous
peine d’endommagement de l’ensemble d’amortissement des vibra-
tions. Utiliser un burin de rechange ou un autre piqueur pour libérer
le burin coincé.
