*** IMPORTANT ***
As of 1 January 2005, changes to the Building Regulations affect domestic electrical installations in
England and Wales. You don't need to be a qualified electrician to make changes to your home's electrical
system, but the work must be done in accordance with the Regulations.
Where you employ an electrician who is a member of a competent person self-certification scheme, they
will be able to certify the work complies with the Regulations.
If you decide to carry out the work yourself we recommend that you make yourself aware of the Regulations
before you begin and if you require any clarification you should contact your Local Authority Building
Control Department.
Details of the Building Regulations can be obtained on the internet via the government website www.odpm.

SECTION ONE
GENERAL INFORMATION
Thank you for buying this IQ OPTIONS light fitting and we hope you will be fully satisfied with
your choice. For your own safety you should read this leaflet before using your unit as it offers
advice and precautions for installation and use.
The OPTIONS range of light fittings are attractive and useful products in their own right but
in addition they also offer you something more than your average light fitting. Each and every
OPTIONS light fitting is manufactured with the capability to accept the OPTIONS Sensor Module;
sold separately. Installation of this Sensor Module converts the light fitting from a manual into an
automatic unit with three different control OPTIONS for you to select from. Without the OPTIONS
Sensor module fitted you will need to manually turn your light fitting on and off as and when you
need it. With the OPTIONS Sensor Module fitted you can forget about having to remember to
switch the unit on or off as the sensor module will do this for you.
The OPTIONS Sensor Module can be fitted at any time, before during or after the installation of
your OPTIONS light fitting. It takes just a couple of minutes to fit, all you need to do is remove
the cap and slide the Sensor Module into place, once inserted it will lock in position. Your next
step is to choose from the three different operating control modes available on the Sensor
Module.
Once the OPTIONS Sensor Module has been installed you can choose from the following
Night Sensor; the unit will illuminate at a level of darkness set by you, and will remain illuminated
throughout the night, switching itself off at dawn. This mode is ideal for use with low energy
lamps but check your OPTIONS Light Fitting to see if Low Energy lamps are capable of being
installed.
Motion Sensor Mode; the unit will begin to operate at a level of darkness set by you,
illuminating only when the sensor detects movement. The unit will then remain illuminated for a
period set by you, returning to the off position when activity ceases. This mode is ideal if you just
want light when its needed.
Night & Motion Sensor Mode; the unit will operate as per the Motion Sensor mode except that
at dusk the unit will illuminate to a dimmed level set by you (0-50%), switching to full brightness
when motion is detected, returning to the dimmed level when activity ceases and switching off
completely at dawn. This mode is ideal if you want a little bit of light to enhance the night time
appearance of your home but with more light being automatically available when movement is
detected.
Your selection of an OPTIONS light fitting was a good choice in its own right, but it can be a
great choice if you combine it with the OPTIONS Sensor Module.
OPTIONS the range of lighting products that provide you with more choice and more control
OPTIONS Allows you to mix and match manual and automatic units, and to switch between any
one of three differing control modes depending on location or preference.
Remember you can install an OPTIONS Sensor Module at any time, so the next time you visit
your local OPTIONS retailer why not convert to automatic.

It is recommended that the lamp is fitted before the lantern is fixed to the wall.
Fit the lamp as follows.
Release the hexagonal nuts on the top cover of the lantern see Diagram A and remove the top
cover.
IMPORTANT!
If you intend to benefit from the addition of the OPTIONS module, please refer to the OPTIONS
control module instruction manual for advice on assembly and set up.
If you intend not to use the OPTIONS module, the blanking plate MUST be fitted to maintain
Safety Regulations!
Fit Blanking Plate supplied by simply inserting into the aperture shown on diagram B. Ensure
blanking plate is fully secured to ensure a watertight seal. There will be an audible click and the
cover will fit securely into its circular aperture.
