Loudspeaker Line Measuring Load
Beschreibung Description
Das LML-1 wird für die Überwachung von 100 V-
Lautsprecherleitungen in professionellen Beschal-
lungsanlagen in Kombination mit Mehrkanal-Ver-
stärkern der Electro-Voice CPS-Serie oder der
DYNACORD DSA-Serie verwendet. Diese Verstär-
ker ermöglichen zusammen mit RCM-810
Modulen eine komfortable Lautsprecherlinien-
Überwachung auf Grundlage der Impedanzmes-
sung. Die Impedanz einer Lautsprecherleitung
hängt jedoch von vielen Faktoren ab, z. B. Lei-
tungslänge, Kabelkapazität, Lautsprecherim-
pedanz, Temperatur, usw., und kann daher stark
schwanken. Das LML-1 wird am Ende einer 100 V-
Lautsprecherleitung angeschlossen, um stabile
Verhältnisse zu erzeugen. Bei 20 kHz stellt das
LML-1 eine definierte Last dar, während es im nor-
malen Audiofrequenzbereich impedanzmäßig
nicht in Erscheinung tritt. Mit dem LML-1 wird
somit die Genauigkeit der Impedanzmessung
erhöht, und unterbrochene oder kurzgeschlos-
sene Lautsprecherlinien werden selbst bei langen
Leitungen und externen Einflüssen zuverlässig
erkannt.
The LML-1 can be used with all Electro-Voice CPS
Series or DYNACORD DSA Series multi channel
amplifiers in 100 V line mode for loudspeaker line
supervision. These amplifiers provide, together
with RCM-810 modules, a convenient loudspeaker
line supervision based on impedance measure-
ment. The impedance of a loudspeaker line, how-
ever, depends on many factorys, such as cable
length, cable capacitance, speaker impedance,
temperature, etc., and therefore can vary greatly.
The LML-1 is connected to the end of a 100 V
loudspeaker line to generate stable conditions. At
20 kHz the LML-1 represents a defined load, while
having minimal load over the normal audio fre-
quency range. With the LML-1 thus the accuracy of
the impedance measurement is increased, and
broken or shorted speaker lines can be detected
reliably even on long cable runs.

Sicherheitshinweise Safety instructions
ACHTUNG:
• Beachten Sie die beiliegenden wichtigen
Sicherheits- und Servicehinweise.
• Das LML-1 darf nur durch nur durch ausge-
bildete Elektriker oder entsprechend qualifi-
ziertes Service-Personal installiert werden.
• Zum Schutz vor berührungsgefährlichen Span-
nungen muss das LML-1 einschließlich der
Anschlussklemmen in ein Gehäuse eingebaut
werden, das nur mit Hilfe eines Werkzeugs
(Schraubendreher o.ä.) geöffnet werden kann.
• Stellen Sie sicher, dass das LML-1 im Gehäuse
geeignet fixiert ist und sich nicht lockern
kann. Bei Metallgehäusen ist dies besonders
wichtig um Berührungen der Leiterplatte oder
der Bauteile mit dem Gehäuse zu vermeiden
(Kurzschlussgefahr!).
• Für die Lautsprecherleitungen sind die Vor-
schriften bzgl. Class 2 Wiring zu beachten.
• Um die Bestimmungen des British Standard
BS5839:Part8 einzuhalten, muss das LML-1 mit
Hilfe einer keramischen Klemmleiste an die
Lautsprecherleitung angeschlossen werden.
Ein korrekter Anschluss und die Verwendung
der vorgeschriebenen Klemmleiste liegt gene-
rell in der Verantwortung des Installateurs. Die
länderspezifischen Sicherheitsstandards und
lokalen Vorschriften müssen befolgt werden.
• Im roten Kabel ist eine thermische Sicherung
am Anschluss-Ende integriert. Beachten Sie,
dass die Sicherung nicht gebogen oder ander-
weitig beschädigt wird. Der Anschluss darf
nicht gelötet oder großer Hitze ausgesetzt
werden.
CAUTION:
• Note the accompanying Safety Instructions.
• The LML-1 must only be installed by trained
electricians or qualified service personnel.
• To protect agains hazardous voltages, the LML-
1, including the terminals, must be mounted in
a case that can only be opened by use of a tool
(screwdriver or similar).
• Make sure that the LML-1 is securely mounted
inside the enclosure. For metal enclosures it is
particularly important that the printed circuit
board and components do not come into con-
tact with the enclosure (risk of short-circuit!).
• For the speaker leads Class 2 wiring must be
used.
• To comply with British Standard BS5839:Part8
the LML-1 must be connected to the speaker
cable using a ceramic terminal block. It is the
installer’s responsibility to ensure that suit-
able terminal blocks are used and that the
LML-1 is terminated correctly. Country specific
safety standards and local regulations/codes
must be adhered to.
• A thermal fuse is pre-fitted to the red connect-
ing cable. Do not bend, solder, heat or damage
the fuse during installation.

Montage Installation
1. Verwenden Sie das LML-1 ausschließlich mit
den folgenden Verstärkern und eingebautem
RCM-810 Modul: Electro-Voice CPS4.5,
CPS4.10, CPS8.5 oder DYNACORD DSA 8405,
DSA 8410, DSA 8805
2. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Lautsprecherleitung
außer Betrieb ist, bevor Sie das LML-1 anschlie-
ßen. Falls die Lautsprecherleitung bereits mit
einem Verstärker verbunden ist, schalten Sie
diesen aus.
3. Montieren Sie das LML-1 am Ende der Laut-
sprecherlinie mit Hilfe der beigepackten selbst-
klebenden Modulhalter. Sie können das LML-1
im Gehäuse des letzten Lautsprechers unter-
bringen, falls dieses zugänglich ist, wie z. B. bei
Wand- oder Deckenlautsprechern. Falls nicht,
können Sie das Modul in einer Installationsdose
(Abmessungen mindestens 100 x 100 x 60 mm)
montieren.
4. Schließen Sie das rote Kabel an den Plus-Pol
und das schwarze Kabel an den Minus-Pol der
Lautsprecherleitung an.
5. Wenn Verstärker mit hohen Pegeln betrieben
werden, kann das angeschlossene LML-1 heiß
werden. Vermeiden Sie daher, dass Kabel oder
leicht entflammbare Materialien mit den Bau-
teilen des LML-1 in Berührung kommen. Achten
Sie besonders darauf, dass beim Schließen des
Gehäuses keine Kabel über den Bauteilen
eingeklemmt werden.
1. The LML-1 can be used with following amplifier
types (including RCM-810 module) only:
Electro-Voice CPS4.5, CPS4.10, CPS8.5 or
DYNACORD DSA 8405, DSA 8410, DSA 8805
2. Check that the loudspeaker line is not live
before connecting. If the line is connected to an
amplifier ensure that it is switched off.
3. Fix the LML-1 at the end of the loudspeaker line
using the self-adhesive mounting studs provi-
ded. If the final loudspeaker in the circuit is a
type with an accessible enclosure, such as a
ceiling speaker or wall mount speaker, then it
should be possible to mount the LML-1 inside
the enclosure. If the loudspeaker is a horn type,
or similar, mount the LML-1 in an external con-
nection box (minimum dimensions 100 x 100 x
60 mm).
4. Connect the red cable to the + side of the louds-
peaker line. Connect the black cable to the -
side of the loudspeaker line.
5. When the amplifier is operating at very high
volume levels the LML-1 can get quite warm.
This is normal, but as a useful precaution care
should be taken to avoid pinching cables over
the components on the circuit board when fas-
tinging the mounting enclosure. Cables or
flammable materials should not touch com-
ponents of the LML-1.
Betrieb Operation
1. Die Ausgänge der Verstärker müssen auf 100V-
Betrieb (High Impedance) eingestellt sein.
2. Für eine genaue Impedanzmessung muss ein
Pilotton mit 20 kHz und einem Pegel von ca. 3 V
eingestellt werden.
3. Zur Vermeidung von hohen Pegeln am LML-1
muss ein Tiefpassfilter im Signalweg verwendet
werden. Der Tiefpass ist auf 14 kHz, 24 dB
Linkwitz-Riley einzustellen.
4. Es wird empfohlen, einen Electro-Voice N8000
oder DYNACOLD P 64 Controller im Signalweg
vor den Verstärkern zu verwenden. In diesen
Geräten können Sie den Pilotton und den Tief-
pass in den jeweiligen Kanälen mit IRIS-Net
komfortabel einstellen.
5. Überprüfen Sie anhand einer Referenzmessung
mit IRIS-Net, ob der richtige Impedanzwert
angezeigt wird und der eingestellte Pilotton-
Pegel ausreichend ist. Bei Bedarf können Sie
den Pegel etwas erhöhen und anschließend
nochmal eine Referenzmessung durchführen.

Signal-Controller finden Sie in den jeweiligen
Bedienungsanleitungen sowie im IRIS-Net Help.
1. Set the output mode of the amplifier to 100 V
(high impedance mode, Direct Drive).
2. Set the pilot tone frequency to 20 kHz and the
pilot tone level at least 3 V to get an accurate
impedance measurement.
3. Add a low pass filter (14 kHz, 24 dB Linkwitz-
Riley) to the signal path in front of the amplifier
input to avoid high signal levels at the LML-1.
4. It is recommended to use an Electro-Voice
N8000 or DYNACORD P 64 for signal proces-
sing. These devices allow easy configuration of
the pilot tone and the low pass filter for each
channel using the IRIS-Net software.
5. Execute a reference measurement in IRIS-Net to
check the impedance value and pilot tone level.
If the pilot tone level is not sufficient for your
application, increase the level and repeat the
reference measurement.
