Introduction
The LA5172 is based on advanced wireless technology that the door announcer
gives alert signal for anyone approaching the area monitored by the wireless PI
motion detector. All visitors will be effectively detected. It is easy to set up and
simple to use.
Please read this manual carefully before commencing installation.

Installing Your ystem
In choosing a suitable location you should bear in mind:
• The need to reach the door announcer and PI easily for turning the unit on
or off and if the batteries need replacing.
• The door announcer should not be visible from the exterior of the protected
premises.
eception of radio signals can be affected by the presence of metal objects within a
few metres of the door announcer. (E.g. mirrors, central heating, garage doors and
cars parked in garages on the opposite side of the wall. Avoid any location which is
near (within 60cm) to these or any other large metal objects.
Installation

CAUTION: When positioning the door announcer ensure that it is located in a dry
place away from damp areas.
tep 1:Unscrew and retain the holding screw from the
front cover. emove the front cover(s) from the base
assembly.
tep 2: Place 4 x 1.5V “D-Cell” Alkaline batteries
(not included) inside the battery compartment
with correct polarity.
tep 3: Close the front cover and screw up. Turn
on the unit and two short ”beeps” are heard, the
unit is now operational. Place the unit in a suitable
location according to your needs.

Wireless PIR
CAUTION: The wireless PI should be installed indoors or under shelter if placed
outside.
The PI should not be mounted near large metal objects or on metal surfaces. It
needs to be mounted on a wall or in a corner at a height of approximately 2-2.5m for
the best coverage. Do not position a PI where it’s field of view may be obstructed
(e.g. by curtains). Also note that PI works best when sensing movement across
rather than along their detection beams.
The detector has been designed to avoid false alarms, nevertheless, it is best to
avoid facing sources of heat such as fires and boilers, and always try to keep away
from a window. A PI can look at a radiator but should not be sited above one. In
some cases, the movement of pets may also be detected. To overcome this it is
recommended that the pets are kept out of sight of PI .
Mounting the PIR
tep 1: emove and retain the screw from the bottom of the PI and lift off the
cover.
tep 2: If you are fitting the PI in a corner, use
mounting points ”A”, if you are fitting the detector on to
a flat surface use mounting points “B” – the mounting
points are shown by indentations in the plastic molding.
Use a small drill to create two fixing holes at the
mounting points.
tep 3: Hold the base of the PI in the chosen position, ensuring that the front of
PI will face towards the centre of the protected area, mark and drill two 5mm fixing
holes in the wall. DO NOT drill holes with the PI in position – the resulting dust may
damage the unit. Secure the PI to the wall using two screws (25mm countersink)
and the wall plugs.
tep 4: eplace the electronic module into the
retaining clips, ensuring that it is correctly
positioned and firmly seated.
tep 5: Insert 2 x AAA size alkaline batteries
(not included) into the battery snap correct
polarity. eplace PI cover and insert the
retaining screw.
Note: The wireless PI has a 2 minute warm-up period after it is powered up.

Operation
After powering up both the door announcer and wireless PI , trigger the Detector by
moving your hand it front of the PI lens. The red LED on the PI will be ON and the
door announcer will give off a “Ding Dong sound”
Maintenance
1). Test all detectors once every 3 months
2). It is suggested to replace all batteries in the door announcer once a year.
3). It is suggested to replace all batteries in the wireless PI once every two years.
