Press and Hold to turn unit off
When alarm is sounding,
press any key to turn it off
Press Mode and Scroll Up Buttons
to enable High Limit Alarm
To disable alarm,
press Power Once
Press Mode and Scroll Down
Buttons to enable Low Limit Alarm
To disable alarm, press Power Once
To enter the user settings
menu, Press Mode and
hold for three seconds.

GENERAL OPERATION
KEY OPERATION OVERVIEW:
• Toturnpoweron,pressthePOWERkeyonce.
• Toturnpowero,pressthePOWERkeyandholdforthreeseconds.
• ToenabletheHIGHLimitAlarm,holdtheMODEkeyandpressUP.
• ToenabletheLOWLimitAlarm,holdtheMODEkeyandpressDOWN.
• TodisabletheAlarm,pressPOWERkeyonce.
• Whenalarmissounding,pressanykeytoturnito(automaticallydisabled).
• Toentertheusersettingsmenu,presstheMODEkeyandholditforfourseconds.
BASIC USER SETUPS AVAILABLE
EachtimetheDV-40powersup,previouslystoredusersettingsareretrieved.
Settingsincludethefollowingitems:
• InternationalStandardUnitsselection,factorydefaultvalueis“MICRONS”.
• HighLimitAlarmsetting“Hi—AL”,factorydefaultvalueis“2000”Microns.
• LowLimitAlarmsetting“Lo—AL”,factorydefaultvalueit“500”Microns.
• Key-pressfeedback(beepPOWER),factorydefaultis“ON”.
• Displayresolution(ON/OFF),factorydefaultis“OFF”.
• Auto-shutdownsetting,factorydefaultis“30”minutes.
• Backlightpersistence,factorydefaultis“10”.
WHEN POWER UP
• WhentheDV-40powersup,thescreenshowsgreetingmessage:“JB,“JUST”,“BETTER”
• Thecenterbarsmovetoindicatetheunitisininitialwarmupstate.Itwilltakeupto30secondsfortheunittogetintonormal
operationmode.
• If“SENSOR”messageisdisplayedonthescreen,thismeansthesensorwireisbrokenorsensorisdisconnected.
BATTERY INDICATOR
Whenthestartupsequenceiscomplete,thebatterystatusindicator(inthelowerleftcorner)isupdatedtoshowcurrentbatterystatus.Whilethe
unitison,thisstatusisupdatedonceeverysecond.Batterylevelindicationisasfollows:
NotVisible TheDV-40isconnectedtoanexternalpowersource.(ACAdapter)
Threebars Batteryvoltageis3.5orabove.
Twobars Batteryvoltageisbetween3.0and3.5Volts.
Onebar Batteryvoltageisbetween2.7and3.0Volts.
Nobars,batteryoutlinevisible Batteryvoltageisbetween2.4and2.7Volts.
Nobars,batteryoutlineashing Batteryvoltageisbetween2.1and2.4Volts.
Oncethebatteryvoltagedropsbelow2.4voltsandthebatteryoutlinestartsashing,theunitwillbeeponceperminutetocallattentionto
thelowbatterycondition.Whenbatteryvoltagefallsbelow2.1volts,ashutdowntimerisactivated.Ifvoltagestaysbelow2.1voltsforthirty
seconds,theDV-40willbeeponceandshutitselfo.Ifpowerisrestoredduringthistime,shutdowniscancelled.
ALARM FUNCTION
LOW LIMIT ALARM
•MODE+DOWNkeyswillenabletheLowlimitalarm.
• LowAlarmcanbeenabledinallcasesincludingwhenthepressureisinOVERRANGEexceptforwhenthesensorisnotconnected.
• EnableLowAlarmwilldisplaythe“LOW”,“ALARM”icon,andwilldisabletheHighAlarm.
• WhenLowLimitalarmisenabledandthepressureislessorequaltothepresetLowAlarmlimitvalue,Alarmwillgoo:Beeper
willsoundeverysecond,andthe“ALARM”,“LOW”iconwillash.
• ThebeepingandashingwillcontinueevenwhenthepressurerisesabovetheLowAlarmlimit.Pressanykeytostopthebeeping/
ashinganddisablethealarm.
HIGH LIMIT ALARM
• MODE+UPkeyswillenabletheHighlimitalarmONLYIFthepressureisbellowthepresetHighAlarmLimit.Ifthepressureishigher
thanthepresetHighAlarmLimit,usercannotenabletheHighlimitalarm.IfLowAlarmwasenabled,tryingtosettheHighLimit
AlarmwilldisabletheLowLimitAlarmeveniftheHighLimitAlarmfailsduetopressurereadingabovetheHighlimit.
• EnableHighAlarmwilldisplaythe“HIGH”,“ALARM”icon,andwilldisabletheLowAlarm.

CLEANING VACUUM SENSOR
Fillbrasssensorttingwithafewdropsofrub-
bingalcohol(Isopropyl).Covertheopeningwith
your nger and gently shake the tting allowing
thealcoholtorinsethesensor.Pourthealcohol
outandallowthevacuumsensortodryforrough-
ly20minutesbeforeusingthegauge.

• WhenHighLimitalarmisenabledandthepressureisgreaterthanorequaltothepresetHighAlarmlimitvalue,Alarmwillgoo:
Beeperwillsoundeverysecond,andthe“ALARM”,“HIGH”iconwillash.
• TheBeepingandashingwillcontinueevenifthepressuregoesdropsbelowtheHighAlarmlimit.Pressanykeytostopthe
beeping/ashinganddisablethealarm.
USER SETTINGS MENU
Thismenuusesastandardsetofkeyassignments:UPandDNkeysscrolltheselection.AtthetoplayerofthemenuUPandDNscrollthe
itemtobeset.Inthesubmenus,UPandDNscrollthesettingselection.TheMODEkeyalwaysactsastheselectkey.Atthetoplayerofthe
menu,MODEkeyselectsasubmenutoaccess.Inthesubmenus,theMODEkeycausesthecurrentselectiontobestored.ThePOWERkey
isalwaysthecancel/exitkey.PressingPOWERwillcancelthecurrentoperationandreturnyoutothepreviouslevel.
UNITS SELECTION UNIT-
Whenthealarmmenuisactive,aconstantpressurevalueequivalentto1000micronsisdisplayedusingthecurrentlyselectedunits
(EG:133.31forPascals).Thecurrentselectionisshownatthetopofthescreen.
AvailableUnitselectionsareMicrons,Pascals,Bar,InHg,mBar,mTorr,Torr.
Toscrolltheselection,usetheUPandDOWNkeys.
Tocancel,pressthePOWERkey.
Toselecttheunitsshown(andstoreitasyournewsetting),presstheMODEkey.
Whenasettingisstored,youwillbereturnedtomenuselections.Ifyou’redone,pressPOWERagaintoreturntonormaloperation.
HIGH ALARM SETTING HI--AL
The(HIGH)alarmselectionsetsthepressurelevelwhereanalertwillbesounded.SelectingaspecicalarmleveldoesNOTmakethealarm
active;itsimplyspeciesthepressurelevelABOVEwhichthealarmwillsoundwhentheuserenablestheHighLimitAlarm(MODE+UP).
Availablealarmsettingsare50,100,250,500,1000,1250,1500,2000microns.Thefactorydefaultvalueis“2000”Microns.Thevaluesshown
herearelistedinmicrons,butasyouscrollthroughthesettings,youwillseethevaluesdisplayedinthecurrentunits(seeunitsmenuabove).
Forexample,ifyourcurrentunitssettingisPascals,youwouldsee:7,14,33,66,133,166,200,and266(ThePascalequivalentsofthe50–
2000micronvalues).
The“ALARM”,“HIGH”iconwillbedisplayedtoindicateyouaresettinguptheHighLimitAlarm.
Toscrolltheselection,usetheUPandDOWNkeys.
Tocancel,pressthePOWERkey.

LOW ALARM SETTING LO--AL
The(LOW)alarmselectionsetsthepressurelevelwhereanalertwillbesounded.SelectingaspecicalarmleveldoesNOTmakethealarm
active;itsimplyspeciesthepressurelevelBELOWwhichthealarmwillsoundwhentheuserenablestheLowLimitAlarm(MODE+DN).
Availablealarmsettingsare50,100,250,500,1000,1250,1500,2000microns.Thefactorydefaultvalueis“500”Microns.Thevaluesshown
herearelistedinmicrons,butasyouscrollthroughthesettings,youwillseethevaluesdisplayedinthecurrentunits(seeunitsmenuabove).

BACKLIGHT PERSISTENCE B-LITE
Backlight‘persistence’setsthenumberofsecondsthatthebacklightwillstayonafterthelastkeyactivity.Availablesettingsare:OFF,10,15,
30,45,60,and90seconds.OFFsimplymeansthatthebacklightwillalwaysremaino.
Toscrolltheselection,usetheUPandDOWNkeys.
Tocancel,pressthePOWERkey.

Toselect(andstore)thedisplayedsetting,presstheMODEkey.
Whenasettingisstored,youwillbereturnedtomenuselections.
Ifyou’redone,PressON/OFFagaintoreturntonormaloperation.
Note:Whileyou’reinthemenusystem,thebacklightwillstayonallofthetimeunlessithasbeendisabledbyselecting“OFF”.
KEY-PRESS FEEDBACK BEEP
Thekey-pressfeedbackmenuhasonlyONandOFFoptions.When‘beep’ison,theDV-40willmakeasoundeachtimeakeyispressed
(audiblefeedback).
Tochangetheselection,usetheUPorDOWNkey.
Tocancel,pressthePOWERkey.
Toselect(andstore)thesettingshown,presstheMODEkey.
Whenasettingisstored,youwillbereturnedtomenuselections.Ifyou’redone,pressPOWERagaintoreturntonormaloperation.
DISPLAY RESOLUTION HI RES
Highresolutiondisplaymeansthatpressureisshownas-is,in1unitincrements.Thedisplayresolutionmenuallowsyoutoselectwhether
pressurewillbeshownathighresolution.WhenthesettingisOFF,readingsareroundedoaccordingtothepressurebeingdisplayed.
OptionsaresimplyONandOFF.
Tochangetheselection,usetheUPorDOWNkey.
Tocancel,pressthePOWERkey.
Toselect(andstore)thesettingshown,presstheMODEkey.
Whenasettingisstored,youwillbereturnedtomenuselections.
Ifyou’redone,pressPOWERagaintoreturntonormaloperation.
Note:EvenwhenhighresolutionisON,pressurevaluesabove1000micronsarealwaysroundedoaccordingtothedisplaypressure.
AUTO-SHUTDOWN SETTING AU-0FF
Inordertoconservebatterylife,theDV-40willshutitselfoafteraperiodofinactivity(nokey-press).Thenumberofminutesbeforeauto-shut-
downoccurscanbesetbytheuserasfollows:OFF,10,15,30,45,60,or90minutes.Whenauto-shutdownissetto‘OFF’,theDV-40willnot
shutitselfo.ThisisusefulintestenvironmentswhereanACpoweradapterisavailable.
Tochangetheselection,usetheUPorDOWNkey.
Tocancel,pressthePOWERkey.
Toselect(andstore)thesettingshown,presstheMENUkey.
Whenasettingisstored,youwillbereturnedtomenuselections.
Ifyou’redone,pressPOWERagaintoreturntonormaloperation.
Note:Evenwhenauto-shutdownhasbeendeactivated,alowbatterycondition(lessthan2.1VDC)willstillcausetheDV-40toturnitselfo.
VERSION ID INFORMATION USER ID
Thismenuselectionissimplyprovidedforinformationpurposes.FirmwarereleaseversionsfortheprimaryCPUandthesensorCPUareboth
available.TheMainCPUrmwarerelease(EG:“Fr-1.77”)isdisplayedinitiallyandwhenevertheUPkeyispressed.PressingDNwilldisplaythe
SensorCPUFirmwarerelease(EG:“Sr-6.42”).PresseitherthePOWERkeyortheMODEkeytoreturntoreturnedtomenuselection.
Note:Whenorderingpartsorgettingtechnicalassistance,thepersonthatyoutalktomayaskforthisinformation.
CALIBRATION MENU
Calibrationmenushouldonlybeaccessedinthefactory,noeldcalibrationisrecommended.
Thesensorandthemainunitserialnumberhavetomatcheachotherinordertohavethecorrectmeasurement.
