Attheend of itslifethisproduct should be disposed ofaccording tolocalregulationsregarding
wasteelectronicequipment. If abatteryispresentinthisproduct itshould bedisposedof
separately.The separatecollectionand recycling ofyourwasteequipmentwillhelptoconserve
naturalresourcesand ensurethatitisrecycledin amannerthatprotectstheenvironment.

1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. SYSTEMDESCRIPTIONOF THE101A(I)
Functionsand features
The flowrate/totalizermodel101A(i)isamicroprocessordriven instrument designedtolinearisethe
flowmeters flowcurveandtodisplayflowrate,totalandaccumulated total.
Thisproduct hasbeen designedwithafocuson:
ultra-lowpowerconsumptiontoallowlong-lifebatterypoweredapplications(typePB/ PC),
intrinsicsafetyforusein hazardousapplications(typeXI),
severalmountingpossibilitieswithGRPenclosuresforindustrialsurroundings,
abilitytoprocessalltypesofflowmetersignals,
transmittingpossibilitieswithanalog/pulseandcommunication (option)outputs.
Flowmeterinput
Thismanual describestheunitwithapulsetypeinput fromtheflowmeter"-P version".
One flowmeterwithasine wave(coil)signal output canbe connected tothe101A(i).Topowerthe
sensor, severaloptionsareavailable.
Standard outputs
Configurablepulseoutput: ascaledpulsemirroring acertainlinearized totalquantity.
Maximumfrequency60Hz.;thepulselengthcanbe set from7,8msecupto2seconds.
Configurablelinear(0)4-20mAanalogoutput with10-bitsresolution mirroring theactual
linearizedflowrate.Flowratelevelsaswellastheminimumand maximumsignal outputcanbe
tuned.

Configurationoftheunit
The 101A(i)wasdesigned tobe implementedinmanytypesofapplications. Forthatreason,a
SETUP-levelisavailabletoconfigureyour101A(i)accordingtoyourspecificrequirements.
SETUPincludesseveralimportant features,suchasK-factors, measurementunits, signalselection
etc. All settingarestoredinEEPROMmemoryandwill notbe lostintheeventofpowerfailureora
drained battery.
Toextendthebattery-lifetime(option),pleasemakeuseofthe power-managementfunctionsas
describedinchapter3.2.3.
Displayinformation
The unit hasalargetransflectiveLCD withallkindsof symbolsand digitstodisplaymeasuringunits,
statusinformation,trend-indication andkey-wordmessages.
Flowrateand totalscanbedisplayedeitherwiththe small 8mmdigitsorwiththe17mm digits.
Abackupof the totalandaccumulated totalin EEPROMmemoryismade everyminute.
Options
The following optionsareavailable:fullModbuscommunication RS232/485/TTL(alsobattery
powered),intrinsicsafety,external reset,panel-mount,wall-mountand weather-proof enclosures.
2. OPERATIONAL
2.1. GENERAL
The 101A(i)mayonlybe operated by personnelwho areauthorizedand trainedby the
operator ofthe facility.All instructions inthismanualaretobeobserved.
Take carefulnotice ofthe "Safetyrules,instructionsand precautionarymeasures " in
thefrontofthismanual.
Thischapterdescribesthedailyuseof the101A(i).Thisinstructionismeantforusers/operators.

2.3. OPERATORINFORMATIONAND FUNCTIONS
Ingeneral, the 101A(i)willalwaysactatOperatorlevel.The informationdisplayedisdependant
upon theSETUP-settings. Allpulsesgenerated bytheconnectedflowmeteraremeasured bythe
101A(i)inthe background,whicheverscreenrefreshratesetting ischosen.Afterpressing akey,the
displaywill be updated veryquicklyduringa30second period,afterwhichit willslow-downagain.
All informationdisplayediscorrectedbyusing thelinearizationtableasstored inthe101A(i).

FortheOperator,thefollowing functionsareavailable:
Displayflowrate/totalorflowrate
Thisisthe maindisplayinformation ofthe101A(i). Afterselectinganyotherinformation, itwill
alwaysreturntothismain displayautomatically.
Total isdisplayed on theupper-line of thedisplayandflowrateon thebottomline.
Itispossibletodisplayflowrateonlywiththelarge 17mmdigits;inthisinstancepress the
SELECT-keytoread the total.
When"-------"isshown, thenthe flowratevalue istoo hightobedisplayed.The arrows
indicatethe increase/decreaseoftheflowratetrend.
Cleartotal
The valuefortotalcan bere-initialized.Todo so, press CLEARtwice.Afterpressing CLEAR
once,the flashing text"PUSHCLEAR"isdisplayed.Toavoidre-initialization at thisstage,
pressanotherkeythanCLEARorwaitfor20 seconds.
Re-initializationoftotalDOESNOTinfluencethe accumulated total.
With externalre theTotalcan be reset tozerowithanexternalswitch.The
Total resetsonlywhenthe switch opens
function isdisabled. Seealso Terminal 12-13
Displayaccumulatedtotal
Whenthe SELECT-keyispressed,totalandaccumulatedtotalaredisplayed. The
accumulatedtotal cannotbere-initialized.The value willcountupto99,999,999,999. Theunit
andnumberof decimalsaredisplayed according totheconfigurationsettingsfortotal.
Low-battery alarm
Whenthe batteryvoltage drops,it mustbe replaced.Atfirst "low-battery"will flash,but as
soon asitisdisplayed continuously,thebatteryMUSTbe replacedshortlyafter!
Onlyoriginalbatteriessuppliedbythemanufacturermaybe used,elsetheguaranteeand
liabilitywillbeterminated.Theremaininglifetimeafterthe firstmomentofindicationis
generallyseveraldaysup tosomeweeks.

3. CONFIGURATION
3.1. INTRODUCTION
Thisandthefollowingchaptersareexclusivelymeantforelectriciansand non-operators. Inthese,
an extensivedescription of allsoftwaresettingsand hardwareconnectionsareprovided.
Mounting,electricalinstallation,start-up and maintenance ofthe instrumentmay only
be carried outby trainedpersonnelauthorizedby the operatorofthefacility. Personnel
mustread and understand thisOperating Manualbeforecarryingoutitsinstructions.
The 101A(i)mayonlybe operated by personnelwho are authorized and trained by the
operator ofthe facility.All instructions inthismanualaretobeobserved.
Ensure thatthemeasuring system iscorrectlywiredup according tothe wiring
diagrams.The housing mayonlybe opened by trained personnel.
Take carefulnotice ofthe "Safetyrules,instructionsand precautionarymeasures " in
thefrontofthismanual.
3.2. PROGRAMMINGSETUP-LEVEL
3.2.1. GENERAL
Configurationofthe101A(i)isdoneat SETUP-level. SETUP-levelisreachedbypressing the
PROG/ENTERkeyfor7seconds;at whichtime,botharrows willbe displayed. Inordertoreturn
totheoperatorlevel, PROG willhavetobe pressedforthree seconds. Alternatively, ifno keysare
pressed for2minutes,theunitwill exit SETUP automatically.
SETUP canbereached at all timeswhilethe 101A(i)remainsfullyoperational.
Note: Apasscodemaybe requiredtoenterSETUP.WithoutthispasscodeaccesstoSETUPis
denied.

Eachfunction hasauniquenumber,whichisdisplayed belowthe word"SETUP"atthe bottomof
the display. The numberisacombination of twofigures.The first figureindicatesthe function-group
andthe second figurethesub-function.Additionally, eachfunction isexpressedwithakeyword.
Afterselectingasub-function,the next mainfunctionisselectedbyscrolling throughall "active"sub-
functions(e.g.1 , 11 ,12 ,13 , 14 ,1 ,2 ,3 ,31etc.).

Tochangeorselectavalue:

Toselectasetting, both and canbeused.
If thenewvalue isinvalid,the increasesign ordecrease-sign will be displayedwhileyouare
programming.
WhendataisalteredbutENTERisnot pressed, thenthealteration can stillbecancelledbywaiting
for20secondsorbypressing ENTERforthree seconds: thePROG-procedurewillbe left
automaticallyand theformervaluereinstated.
