Getting Started
Unpack the equipment. See page 5.
Carefully inspect the equipment for damage as soon as you receive it. If the
contents of a container are damaged in any way, notify the carrier and your
Johnson Controls representative immediately. See page 5.
If you are upgrading the DVN 5000 to support more than 16 channels,
determine the current amount of RAM in the DVN. (Setup>System
Configuration>Performance – Open). See page 14.
The DVN must have a minimum of 2 GB of RAM to support more than
16 channels. Install additional RAM, if necessary. See page 14.
Verify that all coax cables are properly labeled. See page 13.
Verify that the status of each RAID drive is Normal or Ready (for DVNs with a
Broadcom® or Ciprico® RAIDCore RAID controller) or Optimal (for DVNs
with an Adaptec® RAID controller). The LSI RAID controller shows no status
when functioning properly. Messages are only shown for errors. See page 16.
Export the DVN configuration settings. (Setup>System Configuration>
Configuration Settings – Export). See page 17.
Delete the storage drive, but do not delete the allocated disk space.
(Setup>Storage Configuration). See page 19.
BCM Motherboard BIOS Update (Rackmount Models with a
BCM Motherboard Only)
Shut down the DVN. See page 32.
Insert the USB flash drive labeled DVN-BIOS into one of the DVN 5000’s
available USB ports.
Restart the DVN.
During the boot up process, press and hold the <Delete> key on your keyboard
to enter the BCM motherboard BIOS.
When prompted to enter the BIOS password, enter P001 and press <Enter>.
The password is case sensitive.
Use the arrow keys to select Advanced BIOS Features and press <Enter>.
Select Hard Disk Boot Priority and press <Enter>.
Confirm that the USB flash device is the first device the DVN will use to boot,
and press <F10>.
If the BIOS does not list the USB flash device in the first position, use the (+)
and (-) keys on your keyboard’s numeric keypad to move it to the first position.
Then press <F10>.
Press <Enter> when asked to Save to CMOS and exit (Y/N)? Y. The BIOS
update selection screen appears.
