Your New Product
Congratulations on buying this new high quality equipment. Please read this Installation and User
Instructions fully before assembly and use.
Please unpack this product and check for any damage. In the unlikely event of damage resulting
from transportation, please notify the vendor within 48 hours.
This extractor is manufactured for domestic use only and with normal use and maintenance will
provide years of fault free use. It is for use in applications where it can be exhausted to the outside or
used in recirculation mode. The extractor outlet must not be connected to any other air channel.
In recirculation mode, air is filtered by carbon filters and returned to the room via a non-return valve.
In extract mode, air is filtered via 120mm or 150mm diameter ducting from outside. 150mm provides
the quietest operation in use.
Packaging
Most of the packaging materials used can be recycled and are environmentally friendly. Please
dispose of all cardboard packaging as soon as possible in an approved disposal collection or
depository.
Any plastic film, plastic wrapping and polystyrene must be kept out of reach of babies and young
children at all times and babies risk suffocation if packaging is not disposed of immediately.
Please dispose of all materials responsibly and with due regard to the environment.
JSI-UK Environmental Responsibility –Disposal of Old Appliances
With effect from July 1st 2007 all disposal of appliances is covered by the European
Parliament and Council Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic equipment
(2002/96/EC) (The “WEEE Directive”) and the subsequent European Parliament and
Council Directive 2003/108/EC that amended the WEEE Directive.
As a result, JSI-UK pay a proportion of the purchase cost to ensure that collection of
the equivalent weight of household appliances are disposed in accordance with these
regulations when purchased through a retailer or trade supplier.
JSI-UK is a member of the EXEL Europe WEEE compliance scheme and take great responsibly for
the environmental impact that uncontrolled disposal causes.
Additionally JSI-UK is registered with the Government agency VALPAKs’ “Distributor Take Back”
scheme and contributes financially to the operation and development of approximately 1000 civic
amenity sites upgraded to DCF standard in order that you may return your old appliance safely and
with minimal environmental impact.
Please dispose of your old appliance through any of the United Kingdoms’ designated civic amenity
sites that have been classified as having Designation Collection Facilities (DCFs).

Disconnection
Any appliance should be unplugged or disconnected by a competent or qualified person.
Safety Instructions
This product is approved for use within Europe and is suitable for cooking at home only. The
manufacturer cannot be held liable for any incorrect use or any use other that for domestic kitchen
extraction or filtering.
Before connection of this appliance to the mains power supply, ensure that the voltage and frequency
given on the data plate correspond with the electricity supply.

This appliance should be wired directly to a mains supply with an effective earthing system. This
system must meet local and national safety regulations. As with all electrical appliances, it is
recommended that they are tested regularly by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer cannot be
held liable for the consequences of an inadequate earthing system e.g. electric shock.
This appliance must not be connected to the mains supply via an extension lead.
The appliance should be kept clean at all times and where there are external components, these also
should be kept clean and regularly maintained and serviced.
The external area of this appliance should only be washed with mild soapy water. The electrical area
should not be allowed to come into contact with water.
Safety in Use
Never use open flames beneath the cooker hood under any circumstances. There is a risk of flames
being drawn into the appliance causing damage to the appliance or its filters and fats or oils residing
in the filters may present a fire hazard.
Do not use cooker or hob rings without pans and when cooking has finished, ensure that the rings are
turned off to prevent overheating to the extractor hood. Always switch the cooker hood on when
cooking.
Do not touch the lamps during use as these can get hot.
Never leave pans or fryers unattended. Never leave an open grill unattended as overheated oil and
fat could set the cooker hood on fire. Do not use the cooker hood without the grease filters in place.
Ensure that filters are changed as appropriate.
Safety of Children
This appliance is not suitable for use by young children
The use of the appliance should be explained to older children to enable them to use it safely.
Packaging should be kept out of reach of babies and young children.
Location
You should seek advice from a professional installer on all other matters. When using the appliance
in a room or area where another heating appliance exists, ventilation may be required. These
appliances include gas, oil wood and coal fire and burners. When the appliance is used in extraction
mode the appliance will draw air from the room and there may be insufficient air for clean combustion
of the burning appliance. This may bring about an increase in Carbon Monoxide.
You should seek expert advice from a competent builder or for gas; a “Gassafe” registered installer
must be consulted.
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance with these warning
and safety instructions.

Safety regulations prohibit the use of this appliance over a solid fuel stove of
any kind.
The minimum safety distance between the top of an electrical cooker or hob
and the bottom of the island hood is 65cm after installation. (Fig 1)
The minimum safety distance between the top of the gas cooker or hob and the
bottom of the island hood is 75cm after installation.
All pipe work and fittings must be non-flammable.
The appliance must not be connected to a chimney or vent that is in use.
The appliance must not be fitted in a room that contains a fireplace nor should
the flue be shared with any other flue of any type.

Care and Maintenance –Housing Unit
All external surfaces should only be cleaned using warm water with a little washing up liquid applied
to a moist cloth avoiding excess water. Wipe the surface dry using a soft clean cloth
Do not allow water to penetrate the control panels as this could damage the electronics.
An E-Cloth should be used on all stainless steel, glass, plastic and chrome surfaces without the use
of water or chemicals.
Avoid the use of cleaning agent containing soda, acids chlorides or solvents.
Avoid the use of abrasive cleaners, abrasive sponges or any other product that may contain fine
particles as this will scratch the surface. Avoid using any cloths that may have been used with
cleaning materials previously.
Care and Maintenance –Filters
A) Metal Grease Filters
These re-usable grease filters should be cleaned at least every 6 weeks to prevent the build-up of
grease. The grease filters should be cleaned immediately if the warning is illuminated.
It is dangerous to continue to use the appliance with the filter warning alarm. The grease filters can
either be washed by hand with a soft nylon brush and a mild solution of hot water and washing up
liquid or they can be placed in the dishwasher upright on a 60° program using mild detergent. Avoid
alkaline dishwasher detergents of pH greater than 7.
Let the filters dry fully before replacing them.
B) Carbon Filters
If the cooker is connected for re-circulation, a pair of carbon filters must be fitted.
These can be purchased from your supplier or on www.jsi-uk.com. Product code YT971-1000-05
These carbon filters should be replaced when indicated on your cooker hood if it has a filter
replacement warning system or at least every 6 months on models without the filter replacement
warning.
Installation
All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person
in accordance with European, National and Local regulations.
Installations completed by unqualified persons will invalidate the warranty, could be
dangerous and illegal and the manufacturer cannot be held responsible for product
damage or personal injury that may arise from such installation.
Ensure that power is not supplied to the appliance until after the installation is completed and
checks have been made.
Connections to the mains supply must never under any circumstances be made using an
extension lead.
The connection data is given on the rating plate on the appliance.
Connection of the appliance is made via a suitable isolating switch or a double poled fused
spur which complies with European, National and Local regulations and the on/off switch
should be accessible after the appliance has been installed and built in.
If the switch is not accessible after installation then a further means of disconnection must be
provided at all poles.
For the U.K. and Ireland, this appliance is suitable for connection to 230v single phase 50 Hz
earthed supply.

The connection leads are in accordance with the following codes:
Green/Yellow = Earth
Blue = Neutral
Brown = Live
1) Unpack product and check for damages and shortages.
2) Location of product should be between 65 & 75cm from
the hob (see page 4) and (fig.1) however, there is
also a minimum clearance requirement for the hood’s
internal motor block (fig.2).
3) The distance between the motor block should be a min
of 94cm for gas hobs and a min of 84cm for gas hobs.
In order to set this distance, remove the screws shown
(fig.3) and position the motor block to provide the

4) Remove the split extraction plate as shown (fig.2)
5) The distance between the motor-block and the hob
should be 84cm (gas hobs) and 94cm (electric hob). In
order to set these distances, remove the screws as
shown in (fig.3) and slide the motor block within the
body. When the distance has been correctly achieved,
re-fit the screws.
6) Using the template supplied (fig.4)
On the ceiling, drill 10mm holes at position A,B,C & D.
(If ceiling is not strong enough, alternative fixings should
be used instead of plugs).
Screw the 5.5mm 45 YSB screws into the plugs leaving
approximately 5mm for any final adjustment.
Position the hood so the “keyhole” openings pass over the
screw-heads and then twist clockwise to fix. Tighten screws
to complete. (fig. 4)
7) Fix duct system if applicable testing the connection to ensure

8) Pass the chimney section over the suspended motor
block and fix with the supplied fixings.

Disconnect the electrical supply to the hood and ensure it is isolated. Remove the aluminium
cassette filter. Remove the faulty bulb by pulling downwards and replace with new bulb.
Do not hold the new lamp in your hand as skin contains salt and may cause the lamp to fail.
(see figures 9)
Replacing the 50w halogen lamps
Push the lamp holder downwards a few millimeters and then turn anti clockwise. The bulb
can be removed from the holder. Do not do this when the bulb is hot. (fig 9)
Replacing the 20w bulbs
Take the glass cover off the lamp unit avoiding scratching the glass. Twist and turn the faulty
lamp and replace.(fig 10)
Range of Applications
This hood is designed to be used for either recirculating mode i.e. the hood is fitted to the wall and air
is recirculated though it or it can extract through an outside wall. External extraction is the least
efficient and vents heat from the kitchen.
In the case of use in re-circulating mode, addition carbon filters will be required (not supplied).
The product code for the correct charcoal filters for this model is YT971-1000-05 available separately.
These filters remove a large amount of smells that recirculate within the cooking environment.
Aluminium Grease Filters (fig.11)
These are supplied with your product and the appliance should never be operated without them.
These filters are dishwasher safe and should be checked or cleaned approximately every month.
When charcoal filters are used, grease filters should be used as well.
Carbon Filter Cassette Filters (fig.12)
These must be used when your appliance is used in re-circulating mode. They should be changed
every 3-5 months or whenever the filter change alert is on. To change the filters (Figure 11), the
appliance must be electrically isolated and then remove the aluminium grease filter to expose the
charcoal filter.
To install carbon filters for re-circulation mode, remove the aluminium outer filters then the two
circular charcoal filters ref:YT971-1000-05 (pair) filters by placing them on the connector on the motor
and turning anti-clockwise to lock. (Figure 11)

oWhen the timer button Fis pressed for 2 seconds, timer function will be on for 15
minutes.
oWhen the aluminium filter is “dirty”, the warning is given by displaying the letter “C”on
the display panel usually every 2-3 weeks. When the filters are cleaned, dried and re-
fitted, button Ashould be pressed for 3 seconds to clear the Cletter on the display
panel. The letter “E”will appear on the display and the product will start working again
as normal. It is important to wash the filters when the device alerts you to protect the
electronics and ensure optimum extraction.
Operating this appliance with the filter warnings on may invalidate the warranty.
oIf you want to continue using your hood without deleting the letter Con the display, the
active speed number will appear for 1 second when you first start the hood and then
the Cwill appear with the hood running as normal.
oPlease note that the letter C will appear after 60 hours
oWarning –do not attempt to clean the carbon filters. These must always be replaced.
oRemote control can be used instead of touch control (only on RC models).
