Your New Product
Congratulations on buying this new high quality equipment. Please read this Installation and User Manual
fully before assembly.
Please unpack this product and check for any damage. In the unlikely event of damage resulting from
transportation, please notify the vendor within 48 hours.
This extractor is manufactured for domestic use only and with normal use and maintenance will provide
years of fault free use. It is for use in applications where it can be exhausted to the outside or used in
recirculation mode. The extractor outlet must not be connected to any other air channel.
In recirculation mode, air is filtered by carbon filters and returned to the room via a non-return valve.
In extract mode, air is filtered via 120mm or 150mm diameter ducting from outside. 150mm being the most
efficient
Packaging
Most of the packaging materials used can be recycled and are environmentally friendly. Please dispose of
all cardboard packaging as soon as possible in an approved disposal collection or depository.
Any plastic film, plastic wrapping and polystyrene must be kept out of reach of babies and young children
at all times and babies risk suffocation if packaging is not disposed of immediately.
Please dispose of all materials responsibly and with due regard to the environment.
JSI-UK Environmental Responsibility –Disposal of Old Appliances
With effect from July 1st 2007 all disposal of appliances is covered by the European
Parliament and Council Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic equipment (2002/96/EC)
(The “WEEE Directive”) and the subsequent European Parliament and Council Directive
2003/108/EC that amended the WEEE Directive.
As a result, JSI-UK pay a proportion of the purchase cost to ensure that collection of the
equivalent weight of household appliances are disposed in accordance with these regulations
when purchased through a retailer or trade supplier.
JSI-UK is a member of the EXEL Europe WEEE compliance scheme and take great responsibly for the
environmental impact that uncontrolled disposal causes.
Additionally JSI-UK is registered with the Government agency VALPAKs’ “Distributor Take Back”scheme
and contributes financially to the operation and development of approximately 1000 civic amenity sites
upgraded to DCF standard in order that you may return your old appliance safely and with minimal
environmental impact.
Please dispose of your old appliance through any of the United Kingdoms’ designated civic amenity sites
that have been classified as having Designation Collection Facilities (DCFs).

Disconnection
Any appliance should be unplugged or disconnected by a competent or qualified person.
Safety Instructions
This product is approved for use within Europe and is suitable for cooking at home only. The manufacturer
cannot be held liable for any incorrect use or any use other that for domestic kitchen extraction or filtering.
Before connection of this appliance to the mains power supply, ensure that the voltage and frequency given
on the data plate correspond with the electricity supply.

This appliance should be wired directly to a mains supply with an effective earthing system. This system
must meet local and national safety regulations. As with all electrical appliances, it is recommended that they
are tested regularly by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer can not be held liable for the consequences
of an inadequate earthing system e.g. electric shock.
This appliance must not be connected to the mains supply via an extension lead.
The appliance should be kept clean at all times and where there are external components, these also should
be kept clean and regularly maintained and serviced.
The external area of this appliance should only be washed with mild soapy water. The electrical area should
not be allowed to come into contact with water.
Safety in Use
Never use open flames beneath the cooker hood under any circumstances. There is a risk of flames being
drawn into the appliance causing damage to the appliance or its filters and fats or oils residing in the filters
may present a fire hazard.
Do not use cooker or hob rings without pans and when cooking has finished, ensure that the rings are
turned off to prevent overheating to the extractor hood. Always switch the cooker hood on when cooking.
Do not touch the lamps during use as these can get hot.
Never leave pans or fryers unattended. Never leave an open grill unattended as overheated oil and fat could
set the cooker hood on fire. Do not use the cooker hood without the grease filters in place. Ensure that filters
are changed as appropriate.
Safety of Children
This appliance is not suitable for use by young children
The use of the appliance should be explained to older children to enable them to use it safely.
Packaging should be kept out of reach of babies and young children.
Installation
Safety regulations prohibit the use of this appliance over a solid fuel stove of any kind.
The minimum safety distance between the top of an electrical cooker or hob and the bottom
of the cooker hood is 65cm.
The minimum safety distance between the top of the gas cooker or hob and the bottom of the cooker hood is
75cm.
All pipe work and fittings must be non-flammable.
The appliance must not be connected to a chimney or vent that is in use.
The appliance must not be fitted in a room that contains a fireplace.
You should seek advice from a professional installer on all other matters. When using the appliance in a
room or area where another heating appliance exists, ventilation may be required. These appliances include
gas, oil wood and coal fire and burners. When the appliance is used in extraction mode the appliance will
draw air from the room and there may be insufficient air for clean combustion of the burning appliance. This
may bring about an increase in Carbon Monoxide.
You should seek expert advice from a competent builder or for gas; a “Gassafe” registered installer must be
consulted.
The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage caused by non-compliance with these warning and
safety instructions.

Care and Maintenance –Housing Unit
All external surfaces should only be cleaned using warm water with a little washing up liquid applied to a
moist cloth avoiding excess water. Wipe the surface dry using a soft clean cloth
Do not allow water to penetrate the control panels as this could damage the electronics.
An E-Cloth should be used on all stainless steel, glass, plastic and chrome surfaces without the use of water
or chemicals.
Avoid the use of cleaning agent containing soda, acids chlorides or solvents.
Avoid the use of abrasive cleaners, abrasive sponges or any other product that may contain fine particles as
this will scratch the surface. Avoid using any cloths that may have been used with cleaning materials
previously.
Care and Maintenance –Filters
A) Metal Grease Filters
These re-usable grease filters should be cleaned at least every 6 weeks to prevent the build-up of grease.
The grease filters should be cleaned immediately if the warning is illuminated. Filters should also be cleaned
if the letter C appears on the control panel indicating that the filters need washing. To reset the control
panel after washing, press the button for at least 3 seconds when the product is turned off. The letter
“E”will appear and then the appliance can be used once again.
Please note that the letter “C”will also appear after 60 hours to assist with regular maintenance.
It is dangerous to continue to use the appliance with the filter warning alarm. The grease filters can either be
washed by hand with a soft nylon brush and a mild solution of hot water and washing up liquid or they can
be placed in the dishwasher upright on a 60° program using mild detergent. Avoid alkaline dishwasher
detergents of pH greater than 7.
Let the filters dry fully before replacing them.
B) Carbon Filters
If the cooker is connected for re-circulation, a carbon filter must be fitted.
These can be purchased from your supplier or on www.jsi-uk.com. Part reference YT971-1-000-05
These carbon filters should be replaced when indicated on your cooker hood if it has a filter replacement
warning system or at least every 6 months on models without the filter replacement warning.
Installation
Ensure that power is not supplied to the appliance until after the installation is completed and checks have
been made.
Connections to the mains supply must never under any circumstances be made using an extension lead.
The connection data is given on the rating plate on the appliance.
Connection of the appliance is made via a suitable isolating switch or a double poled fused spur which
complies with European, National and Local regulations and the on/off switch should be accessible after the
appliance has been installed and built in.
If the switch is not accessible after installation then a further means of disconnection must be provided at all
poles.
For the U.K. and Ireland, this appliance is suitable for connection to 230v single phase 50 Hz supply
The connection leads are in accordance with the following codes:
Green/Yellow = Earth
Blue = Neutral
Brown = Live

All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in
accordance with European, National and Local regulations.
Installations completed by unqualified persons will invalidate the warranty, could be
dangerous and illegal and the manufacturer cannot be held responsible for product
damage or personal injury that may arise from such installation.

.
1 Unpack the product
Carefully unpack the product and inspect for any carrier damage.
Avoid the use of sharp instruments such as Stanley knives to cut the
packaging. It is best to retain the packaging until after the installation.
2 Siting of the product
After installation, the hood should have a clearance of 65cm for
electric hobs and at least 75cm for gas hobs
3 Installation of the ceiling Plate
Locate the front of the plate (marked). This will also be the front of
the appliance and the control panel on the appliance will be in the
same direction.
Drill and plug the 4 x10mm holes at positions A,B,C and D as shown.
Depending on the construction of the ceiling, these fixings may need
to be plasterboard toggle fixings.
4 Installation of the corner struts
Fit the hanging struts to the motor block
as shown in diagram x. The height
adjustment of the hood is by the
adjustment of the fixing position of the
corner struts. The hanging bar should
be in the same direction as the ceiling
connection plate.
Fit the external covers over the internal chimney sections and make a temporary connection by
using a screw on the motor block. This is to prevent the motor dropping out when the appliance
is mounted to the ceiling plate.
5 Fix motor block to hanging plate
Place the hanging struts through the location
channels on the hanging ceiling plate and fix
using the 3.5 x 9mm screws
6 Fix the ducting
Connect the flexible ducting to the outlet on the motor block. Before final assembly, it is
important that the appliance is tested at max air flow (setting 5) to ensure that the circular duct
kit connectors (not supplied) are fitted soundly
7 Fit the chimney section
Fit the outer chimney section to the hanging struts and fix using
the 3.5 x 9.5mm Nickel coated screws supplied
8 Remove the Split Extraction Plate
To connect the appliance, the split extraction plate has to be removed first.
This is done by pulling down on the left and right top corners
simultaneously.
9 Fix Motor Block to Appliance Body
Place the Hanging Hooks (Supplied) on the product body and
attach to the channels on the motor block. Fix these with the
3.5 x 9.5mm screws
10 Make Electrical Connections
Connect the 220v connector with the
corresponding connector socket on the motor
block. Install aluminium cassette filter when
connections are made.

Operating controls
oStart fan by pressing button on control panel (1)
oIncrease or decrease speed by pressing buttons - or + (2 and 4) (maximum 5 speed
settings)
oWhen the timer button 5 is pressed for 2 seconds, timer function will be on for 15 minutes.
oAutomatic timer is available with remote control models. Press (5) for at least 2 seconds.
This will result in the timer starting for 15 minutes.

11 Connect control panel
After the installation, connect the control panel connectors.
It is important that the connectors are locked after
connection.
To replace the 20w halogen bulbs, remove the glass
cover of the lamp taking care not to scratch the glass in
doing so as shown on the diagram. Remove the faulty
lamp and replace with new one taking care not to touch
the bulb with your hands. Any moisture in your hand
will cause the bulb to fail of touched.
If being used in internal recirculation mode, this appliances
requires a filter set of two (available separately) if the appliance
is to be used in full external extract mode. To install the carbon
filter, place it on the centre connection channel of the motor and
turn the filter clockwise to lock in place. In order to remove a
filter, turn the filter clockwise to unlock and remove. This
appliance is fitted with a filter warning system which alerts the
user when the filter needs to be changed. In normal use, this
should be twice a year.
This appliance requires an aluminium cassette
filter in all modes of use (internal recirculation
and external extraction). In order to remove the
cassette filter, press the release latch and pull the
filter towards you. This appliance is fitted with a
filter warning system which alerts the user when
the filter needs to be changed. In normal use, this
should be 2-3 times per year.

oWhen the aluminium filter is “dirty”, the warning is given by displaying the letter Con the
display panel (3). When the filters are cleaned, dried and re-fitted, button 1 should be pressed
for 3 seconds when the product is off to clear the Cletter on the display panel. The letter E
will appear on the display and the product will start working again as normal.
oIf you want to continue using your hood without deleting the letter Con the display, the active
speed number will appear for 1 second when you first start the hood and then the Cwill
appear with the hood running as normal.
oPlease note that the letter C will appear after 60 hours
oWarning –do not attempt to clean the carbon filters. These must always be replaced.
oRemote control can be used instead of touch control (only on RC models).
