4. RECOMMENDATIONS
4.1 Routine Checks!

As soon as your Kartus Wheelchair has been delivered, the following series of
tests should be carried out to ensure your safety:
oMake sure to follow guidelines in the “Operation” section of this manual when
assembling Kartus parts.
oEnsure that the wheelchair rotates smoothly and that all parts are functional:
there should be no irregular movements.
oCheck for any unusual sounds, fluctuations, as well as any other irregularities
(may include under-inflated tires, loose parts, or general chair damage).
oEnsure that the wheels are securely fastened and that no objects interfere with
their normal operation.
oCheck that the disc brakes are functional.
oEnsure that the seat and backrest are properly attached to the frame and are in
stable position for the user.
oExamine tire pressure.
oEnsure each side panels are secured and inspect that they are securely fastened
mechanism.
oEnsure that leg guards are in proper position and securely fastened.
oMake sure that there is nothing blocking the front wheel system and that
wheels can spin freely.
oEnsure that the parking brake is functional.

4.2 Safety Regulations
A series of regulations must be followed to ensure the user’s safety and the individual’s
coming into contact with the Kartus wheelchair.
Please note that the safety regulations in this manual are intended to be used only as
basic guidelines. The individual who comes into contact with this product must carry
out the precautions and is responsible for his or her own actions.
oDO NOT use without proper tire pressure.
oDO NOT reach for an object if you must lean forward, sideways, or backwards.
oDO NOT attempt to get over a hurdle whose height may jeopardize the chair’s
stability.
oDO NOT stand on wheelchair frame.
oALWAYS keep hands and fingers away from moving parts to avoid injury.
oDO NOT attach any objects to the backrest other than parts provided by Kartus.
oDO NOT tilt the chair without assistance.
oNEVER use leg guards for lifting or during wheelchair transfers.
oNEVER lift the wheelchair by steerable or moving parts. Use locked and secure
frame sections instead.
oBE AWARE of finger trapping when reinstalling moving parts.
oFor transporting, disassemble the wheels and fold the frame as indicated in the
“Operation” section.
oKeep your arms inside the armrests at all times while the chair is in motion.
