1. Description
KBA Smart Controller is a dual-system electric door controller which can be operated using normal remotes or
over WiFi through an App on your phone. It has functions of setting automatic delay closing, resistance rebound
and limit switches amongst others and is widely used in domestic and commercial properties. The system has
been designed in the United Kingdom.
2. Features
Supports WiFi connection to your internal or external network. It can also be used as a stand-alone product
or over a network. It just requires internet connection to operate the door.

Direction switch: If the control direction and running direction are opposite to each other, the direction can
be switched by changing the dial switch.
One-key model: Each time you press the remote-control key, the controller status switches back and forth
between UP, DOWN, STOP and LOCK/UNLOCK.
Four-key model: The remote control keys are A (UP), B (DOWN), C (STOP) and D (LOCK/UNLOCK).
The four buttons indicate the corresponding functions.
Auto-close: When this function is enabled, the controller automatically closes the door after the set delay
time.
4.3 Status indicator
The status indicator will flash once every second once the controller is powered on.
While the door is opening, the indicator will flash at a frequency of 600 ms. After completion, the default
state is restored.
During the shutdown process, it flashes at the frequency of 250 ms, following which the default state is
restored.
5. Key control and limit switch on the controller
◆ B (DOWN) button: Press this button to close the door. If the controller is closed or is in the process of
closing, the button will not respond.
◆ A (UP) button: Press this button for opening the door. If the controller is in the open state or in the process of
being opened, the button will not respond.
◆ C (STOP) button: Press this button to execute the stop action.
◆ Up limit switch: The external limit switch must be NO (normally open) and if the limit switch is triggered
while the controller is in the process of closing the door, the controller stops the door closing action.
◆ Down limit switch: The external limit switch must be NO (normally open) and if the limit switch is triggered
while the controller is in the process of opening the door, the controller stops the opening action.
◆ Resistance rebound switch (Photocell): The photocell is (normally closed) and if there is any obstruction
while the door is closing, the door will automatically rebound.

Adding a new remote
The Remote controllers (main box) are equipped with a studying key and studying pilot lamp LED. This is
a small black button in the main box
Press and hold the studying key for about 3 seconds in the main box and the LED light should flash on.
Press either the A (UP) or the B (DOWN) key on the remotes for programming.
Check that your remote is fully programmed by trying the other keys.
If you have other remotes, please repeat steps 1-4 above.
Deleting all remotes
Press the studying key for about 10 seconds. The LED should light up 5 times and the keys will have been
deleted.
Please note that while deleting, none of the keys would work; unless you program them again.
Remote lock/unlock
Press and hold the D (LOCK/UNLOCK) key of the remote control for more than 3 seconds. The
controller's red LED and flashing light will flash once. The controller is then locked.
Press and hold the D (LOCK/UNLOCK) key of the remote controller for more than 3 seconds. The
controller's red LED and flashing light will flash twice. The controller is then unlocked.
Setting up the Roller Shutter travel time (closing and opening)
Close the door completely.
Press the TIME button on the controller until the LED light is on and stop flashing.
Press A (UP) button on the remote and the LED light will flash slowly.
Once the door is completely open, press the B (DOWN) button. The LED lights will stop flashing.
Setup is complete – Please note that if the closing time is less than 15seconds, the TIME settings will not be
valid.
Auto Close Delay Time Settings
Press the TIME button on the controller until the LED light is on and stop flashing.
Press C (STOP) button on the remote and the LED light will flash fast. This is the point where the
controller starts calculating the time delay to close.
Once you have reached the required time limit, press C (STOP) button again. The LED lights will stop
flashing.
Setup is complete – Please note that if the time set is less than 15seconds, the TIME settings will not be
valid.
Turning Flash Light ON/OFF
The flash light will only work if the Dip Switch 4 is in the ‘ON’ position. Press the D (LOCK/UNLOCK)
button and release quickly. This will operate the flash light. If the flash light is not turned OFF after 5
minutes, it will auto disconnect.

7. Remote Control / WiFi control
7.3.1 Mobile App Software Download and Installation:
Android system:
Users can use the “Google Play” platform to search for “Safemate”. Once the download is completed,
follow the prompts to complete the installation of the software. Users can also scan the QR code provided
below.
iOS System:
Users can use the “App Store” platform to search for “Safemate2”. Once the download is completed,
follow the prompts to complete the installation of the software. Users can also scan the QR code provided
below.

7.3.2 Mobile App user registration and login
1. Click the register button on the login
2. Please select your country or region, phone number, and click send verification code (Captcha). Please check
your message for the code and type it in on the App. Before clicking on the next step, please read the product
disclaimer and check the agree box. Click next to enter the user information configuration page

3. In the user information configuration page, key in your email address and choose a password. After
confirming all the information, please click on the complete button. The App is now registered.
4. Account login. You can log in using your account number (mobile number) and password.

7.3.3 Mobile App Management
Once logged in the Personal Center, please click on User Manual where all information on the configuration and
use of the App is provided.
7.3.4 Network Access:
The user manual provides and in-depth explanation on how to add a new controller. As a summary,
1. Click “Add Device” and then enter and confirm the WiFi password
2. Press the WiFi access button of the controller three times quickly until the indicator light flash
3. Click on Complete

8. FAQs
(i) Failed to add the device and the product signal indicator light flashes slowly
The slow blinking signal indicates that the router is being connected. When the connection time exceeds 60 seconds,
the connection fails. Please check the WiFi password or retry pairing as there may have been a communication error
while performing the data transmission. Users also need to check the network status of the mobile phone or WiFi
router to troubleshoot any restrictions in allowing connection.
(ii) The App does not seem to control the shutters
- Check whether the WiFi password of the router has been changed.
- Check the indicator status of the device's signal. If it is flashing slow, it indicates that the App is disconnected from
the router. You will need to reconfigure the App.
- The IP address might have changed. Please restart your mobile and open the App again.
