①USB connector
Rotate the USB connector to pull out, then
connect to a USB port of PC.

■Attaching to a PC
Unfold the USB connector. The USB connector can be unfolded up to 180 degree and the top
part can be rotated up to 180 degree.
・
Stow the USB connector back after removing the product from a PC.
* Do not unfold the USB connector more than 180 degree.
* Do not rotate the top of the USB connector more than 180 degree.

Attaching au Micro IC Card (LTE)
Your phone number etc. are stored on the au Micro IC Card
(LTE).
The product is compliant with au Micro IC Card (LTE) only.
IC cards other than au Micro IC Card (LTE) is not available.
* Do not insert an IC card with a conversion adapter.
* Although the phone number is stored as customer information, voice calls are not available
with the product.
* Note the following points, otherwise handling the au Micro IC Card (LTE) may cause
malfunction or damage.

Do not touch the IC (metal) part of the au Micro IC Card (LTE) or the IC card terminal inside
the product.
・Insert in the correct direction.
・Do not force to attach or remove.
* Enable PIN Code Operation to prevent au Micro IC Card (LTE) from unauthorized use by
others or to protect personal information (see next page).

Thank you for buying the Speed USB STICK U01 (simply called the “product” or “Speed USB STICK” from here on).
Before using the product, be sure to read the “Quick Start Guide” (this manual) and “Notes on usage” to
ensure correct use. After reading, store the manuals in a safe place for future reference.
“Quick Start Guide” (this manual) describes basic operations and settings of major functions.
As an instruction manual of the product, refer to the supplied “Quick Start Guide” (this manual), “Notes on
usage”, or “取扱説明書 詳細版 (Full Instruction Manual)” (Japanese) available on the au homepage. In this
manual, “Instruction Manual” includes “Quick Start Guide” (this manual), “Notes on usage”, and “取扱説明書 詳
細版 (Full Instruction Manual)” (Japanese).

Exemptions and Safety Precautions

When using the product
・During communication, please keep the device farther than 1.5 cm away from your body without including
any metals.
・Communication is not possible even inside the service area in places where the signal does not reach (e.g.
tunnels and basements). Also, communication is sometimes not possible in poor reception areas.
Communication is sometimes interrupted if you move into a poor reception areas during communications.
・Since this product uses radio waves, the possibility of communication intercepts by third parties cannot be
eliminated. (Though WiMAX 2+, LTE and UMTS systems have highly secure confidential communication
features.)
・This product is compatible with the international roaming service. Each network service described in this
manual varies depending on the area and service content.
・Since this product is a radio station under the Radio Law, you may be asked to temporarily submit the
product for inspection in accordance with the Radio Law.
・The product number of data communication terminals is automatically sent to KDDI CORPORATION for
maintenance and monitoring operational status of your data communication terminals.
・Take care not to inconvenience people around you when you use the product in a public place.
・When the product is used by a child, parents or guardians should thoroughly read the “Instruction Manual”
and teach the child how to use it.
・Before you start using the product overseas, check the relevant laws and regulations of the country/region
you visit.
Cell Phone Etiquette
■Use of the product is not allowed in the following places!
・Do not use the product while driving a car or riding a motorbike or bicycle. It may cause a traffic accident.
Use of the product while driving a car or motorbike is prohibited by law. Use of the product while riding a
bicycle may be punishable by some regulations.
・Use of electric devices on board is restricted. Follow the instructions of each airline company.
■Make sure where you are when using!
・Use the product in a place where it cannot block foot or traffic in a street.
■Pay careful attention to the people around!
・In a crowd such as crowded train, there may be people with a cardiac pacemaker nearby. Turn off the
power of the product in advance.
・When a medical institution such as a hospital has laid down designated areas where use of the product is
prohibited or is not allowed to be brought in, turn off the power of the product in advance.

What you can do with Speed USB STICK
Use this product on Windows/Mac PCs equipped with USB ports to perform data
communication by Internet connection using WiMAX 2+ or LTE system. When using abroad,
LTE system is available in addition to UMTS.
* The product automatically determines most suitable network at that time to connect.
* Communication by the product is a best effort only. Communication speed changes according to
congestion status of lines.

Setting up on Windows PC
Connect the product to a Windows PC and start setup. Steps under Windows 7 are explained
here.
1Power on a PC to activate the OS
2Connect the product with au Micro IC Card (LTE) attached to the PC USB port
3Select "AutoRun.exeの実行 (AutoRun.exe)"
•When "ユーザーアカウント制御 (User Account Control)" screen appears, click "はい (Yes)".
•If "自 動 再 生 (Auto run)" settings on Windows 7 PC is changed, "AutoRun.exeの実行
(AutoRun.exe)" does not appear, the installation starts instead.
•When a installation confirmation message appears, click "はい (Yes)".
4The installation starts
When "Speed USB STICK setting tool" shortcut icon is displayed in the PC desktop, the
installation is complete.
Accessing Internet
To perform data communication accessing Internet, subscription to corresponding Internet
Service provider (ISP) is required.
For details, refer to the latest au catalogs/au homepage.
•For corresponding ISP, refer to au homepage. Services of corresponding ISP and the
settings vary by ISP. Contact your corresponding ISP.
Changing the access point profile
In the product, "Internet" is set as an Internet access point (Profile) in advance. Change, create
or edit profile using Speed USB STICK setting tool.
■Changing the profile
To change the access point, from the Speed USB STICK setting tool top page, change Profile
in Change Profile.

Use a Web browser on a PC with the product connected to change the product settings.
1Connect the product to a PC and double-click "Speed USB STICK setting
tool" shortcut icon on the desktop (or dock for the Mac)
Web browser activates, then Speed USB STICK setting tool top page appears.
•For setting each function of the product, select "To Advanced" to go to the function setting
screen.
■Switching to English display
In Speed USB STICK setting tool top page, select “English” for 言語 (Language).
International roaming
For overseas use of the product, activate Speed USB STICK setting tool to change the network
operator you use in the country.
Even if the roaming setting is on, you can use your domestic network in Japan.

PIN management
Set PIN (security code) to prevent au Micro IC Card (LTE) from unauthorized use by others; PIN
entry is required when the product is connected to a PC.

Select "Enable" from PIN Code Operation, then enter a current PIN to PIN

■Authorization
When PIN Code Operation is set to "Enable", PIN entry is required for accessing Internet on a
PC with the product connected.

Troubleshooting
Please check the following if problems such as being unable to connect to the Internet from a
PC remain even after setting and reading this manual and “取扱説明書 詳細版 (Full Instruction
Manual)” (Japanese).
* Signal strength, communication congestion, amount of contents may affect communication
status.
■Internet connection fails.
1. Check that you are inside the service area.
2.
When a signal reception is poor, move to a good reception area, then try again.
3. Access point can get busy at certain time. Wait a while and try again.
4. Activate Speed USB STICK setting tool and make sure that Internet settings are proper.
■Communication stops intermittently.
1. Signal reception may be poor. Check in a good reception area.
2. Make sure that the product and a PC are properly connected.
3. Remove the product from a PC, then try again.
4. If connection is not established after the above-mentioned steps are performed, disconnect the
product from the PC, restart the PC and then connect the product again.
■Communication speed is slow.
1. Signal reception may be poor. Check in a good reception area.
2. Access point may be busy. Wait a while and try again.
■I want to reset the product to the default status.
1. To reset to the default settings, from the top page of Speed USB STICK tool, “To Advanced” →
“Advanced Settings” →“Restore Defaults” →“Restore Defaults” →“OK”.
