FLAMMABILITY WARNING
KEEP ALL FLAME AND HEAT SOURCES AWAY FROM THIS TENT
FABRIC. This tent is made with flame resistant fabric which meets
CPAI-84 specifications. IT IS NOT FIREPROOF. The fabric will burn if
left in continuous contact with any flame source. The application of
any foreign substance to the tent fabric may render the flame-
resistant properties ineffective. For these reasons:
•DO NOT use matches, lighters, stoves, heaters, grills, lanterns,
candles, cooking equipment, vehicles, or other fuel-burning
devices inside or near a shelter.
•DO NOT build fires under or near a shelter.
•DO NOT leave campfires unattended.
Your failure to follow this warning will cause death, serious injury, or
permanent disability to you or others.

CARBON MONOXIDE GAS WILL KILL YOU
Stoves, heaters, grills, lanterns, candles, and other fuel-burning
devices that burn propane, natural gas, charcoal, kerosene, coal,
gasoline, or other fuels produce a toxic gas called carbon monoxide.
Because carbon monoxide gas is invisible, odorless, and colorless, a
dangerous level of carbon monoxide gas can accumulate in a tent
which cannot be detected by sight, smell, or taste.
When breathed in even small quantities, carbon monoxide is
absorbed into the bloodstream, replacing and reducing the
oxygen in the bloodstream and causing carbon monoxide poisoning
and suffocation, which will cause death, serious injury, or permanent
disability. Exposure to high concentrations of carbon monoxide for
even a few minutes will also cause death, serious injury, or
permanent disability. For these reasons:
• DO NOT use stoves, heaters, grills, lanterns, candles or other
fuel-burning devices inside or near a shelter.
• DO NOT leave your vehicle running while using your shelter.
Your failure to follow this warning will cause death, serious injury, or
permanent disability to you or others.

WARNINGS
SUFFOCATION HAZARD
Any tent or shelter must be properly ventilated in all weather condi-
tions to allow sufficient airflow into and out of the carport. If airflow
into and out of a carport is obstructed (for example, if heavy snow
obstructs the air flow) you and other persons will suffer from lack of
oxygen and suffocate, resulting in death, serious injury, or permanent
disability. For these reasons:
• DO clear snow or other materials away from a shelter frequently.
• DO NOT use stoves, heaters, grills, lanterns, candles or other
fuel-burning devices inside or near a shelter (SEE CARBON
MONOXIDE WARNING ABOVE).
Your failure to follow this warning will cause death, serious injury, or
permanent disability to you or others.

SEVERE WEATHER HAZARD
In some climactic conditions (for example, severe storms, high winds,
or heavy snow cover), stakes and guy cords may not be sufficient to
anchor a carport securely, which could result in the carport being
picked up or blown away, causing death, serious injury, or permanent
disability. Under such conditions:
• DO use supplemental means to securely anchor the shelter, for
example, snow pegs, skis, and/or heavy rocks or other
heavy objects.
• DO seek appropriate shelter, for example, in a house, cabin,
building, or secure structure other than a shelter.
Your failure to follow this warning will cause death, serious injury, or
permanent disability to you or others.
PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN
Children will not understand and appreciate the FIRE, CARBON
MONOXIDE POISONING, SUFFOCATION, AND SEVERE WEATHER
hazards described above and will not know how to avoid or respond
to these hazards if no adults are present. For this reason:
• DO NOT leave children unattended inside a shelter or in camp.
• DO NOT allow children to assemble a shelter.
• DO NOT allow children to enter or exit a shelter except through
the door.
• DO NOT allow children to remain in a closed-up shelter on
hot days.
Your failure to follow this warning will cause death, serious injury, or
permanent disability to you or others.

WIND HAZARD
In windy conditions, stakes, guy cords, and roof attachments may not
be strong enough to hold the shelter securely to the ground or your
vehicle, which could result in death, serious injury, or permanent
disability to the user and serious damage to your vehicle. If such
conditions exist:
• DO use supplemental means to anchor the shelter such as rocks
or sandbags.
• DO attach the shelter securely to your vehicle following the
included instructions.
• DO NOT use shelter in cases of strong winds.
• DO take the shelter down if hazardous conditions exist.
Your failure to follow this warning could cause death, serious injury,
or permanent disability to you or others.
BEFORE YOU START
5
• DO attach shelter directly to roof rack or factory-installed roof
rails only.
• DO save and keep instructions for future use.
• DO remove shelter from vehicle prior to moving the vehicle.
• DO NOT operate vehicle while shelter is attached.

damage to vehicle or shelter.

to your vehicle.

3. Insert the hook located on the black webbing at the
top corner of the CarTarp to the ferrel on the end of
the top pole (Fig. 3A and 3B). Repeat for the other hook
and end.
SETTING UP YOUR CARTARP
2. Spread the CarTarp body on the ground. Lay the top
pole (with the hook and loop straps) parallel to the
top of the CarTarp (figure 2).
Figure 1A Figure 1B Figure 1C
1. Assemble all the poles manually (figures 1A,
1B and 1C). DO NOT allow the shockcord snap the pole
sections together, this can damage the poles.

4. Attach the short hook and loop tabs located on the
top side of the CarTarp to the top pole (Fig. 4).
Note: Make sure the longer hook and loop straps (attached to
the short pole) are spaced evenly across the short/top
pole, making sure that a long velcro strap is on the
outside of both short hook and loop straps.
Figure 4
5. Grab the top pole and carry the CarTarp to the side
of the vehicle you want to attach it to, either the side
or back of the vehicle.
Note: The vehicle must either have factory installed rails or an
after market roof rack.
6. Use the long hook and loop straps to secure the top
pole to the rack or rails.
Notes: • This is most easily performed by simply wrapping
the straps around the bars.
• D-rings provide extra ways to attach the straps.
7. Insert gold pole tips into the grommets at the ends of
the center seam of the tarp (Fig. 7A), and raise the
CarTarp. Using the included guylines, tie two from the
tip of the staff poles and stake about 6 ft. out at a
45˚ angle (Fig. 7B). Stake tarp corners (7C).
Note: The poles can also be placed at the outside corners.
8. Pull cords tight and make adjustments if needed.

THE BEST WAY TO USE ROCKS FOR
STAKING AND GUYING OUT IN ROCKY
TERRAIN (OR ON PAVEMENT) IS TO FIND
ONE LARGE AND ONE SMALL ROCK. TIE
A PIECE OF CORD FROM YOUR STAKE OR
GUY-OUT POINT AROUND THE SMALL
ROCK, SET THE LARGE ROCK ON TOP OF
THE CORD RIGHT NEXT TO THE SMALL
ROCK, PULL BACK UNTIL IT’S TIGHT.
STAKING TIPS
NOTES & TIPS
• DO attach the shelter securely to your vehicle following the included
instructions.
• DO use supplemental means to anchor the shelter such as rocks
or sandbags.
