What is
ψ
USB
ω
?
The design of USB (Universal Serial Bus) is standardized by the
USB Implementers Forum, an industry standards body incorporating
leading companies from the computer and electronics industries
including Agere (now merged with LSI Corporation), Apple Inc.,
Hewlett-Packard, Intel, NEC, and Microsoft.
USB is a serial bus standard to interface devices to a host computer.
USB was designed to allow many peripherals to be connected using
a single standardized interface connector and to improve the

6
plug-and-play capabilities by allowing hot swapping, allowing devices
to be connected and disconnected without rebooting the computer or
turning off the device. Other convenient features include providing
power to low-consumption devices without the need for an
external power supply and allowing many devices to be used
without requiring manufacturer specific, individual device drivers to be
installed.
For computer peripheral devices, USB has become one of the most
accepted standard for connection. USB was originally designed for
personal computers, but it has become commonplace on other
devices such as handheld devices and video game consoles, and as
a bridging power cord between a device and an AC adapter plugged
into a wall plug for charging purposes. As of 2008, there are about 2
billion USB devices in the world.
There are 4 types of common used USB connectors as follow :
The Beagle bundled USB cable comes with a Standard A type
connector (for computer connection) and a Mini B Type connector (for
Beagle speaker connection).
What is
ψ
Be-twin
ω
Technology ?
Basically, a single Beagle Speaker is designed to meet the need of a

7
regular computer user’s daily audio requirement because of the
speaker’s utilization of USB power as well as digital audio technology.
Once your family or friend has another Beagle speaker, something
interesting will be happened.
Be-Twin®technology is KEYNE’s patented core design of smart
speaker system. In the digital era, a smart speaker is expected to
reach following targets :
Power-saving, ease-of-use.
Affordable price and meet basic requirements.
Expandable to provide high quality sound.
In order to meet the above mentioned requirements, the elementary
design components of Be-Twin®technology includes 2 major parts :
Mechanism design for easy operation and expansion.
Electronic design for self-configuration.
The following picture shows Beagle speaker bottom design, the
special design is not only for the speaker working alone but also for
easy expansion. Any Beagle speaker on the market is capable of
working alone with a computer as master speaker and working with
another Beagle speaker by bottom-to-bottom or wire-connection as a
supporting speaker.

NOTE Beagl
e
speaker’s default was set 50% of system volume to
avoid the sudden burst sound. In order to let your Beagle
speaker presents best audio performance, please adjust your
computer system volume to maximum or at least 80%. And you
can adjust the best listening volume by adjusting media player or
any music playback software’s volume control.
NOTE If you hear no sound after the installation, please shield the
optical sensor switch on top of the speaker as the speaker might
turn OFF while installing, the optical sensor is effective within
5~10mm.

12
OPERATION
Using the Speaker
Once connecting the speaker and computer by USB cable properly,
you are ready to enjoy the quality sound that Beagle speaker is
designed for. Beagle speaker is one of the most ease-of-use USB
speaker on the market, there is no software installation nor external
power supply required to operate the speaker.
Following steps are trying to let you have a regular concept of using
an USB speaker as well as help you to obtain higher performance
from the use of Beagle speaker.
We highly recommend you to setup computer system volume to
maximum or at least more than 80% of system output (easily by
setting at Windows Volume Control panel) to obtain best speaker
performance. Some computer’s hardware volume adjust range is
under system setting. If current system volume was set to 50%,
even both hardware button and playback software volume set to
maximum, the total output can only reach 50% of system output.
Turn on your media player or preferred music playback software
and select your music and press the play on your media player.
You can get the most comfortable listening volume by adjusting
the volume control of your media player software or computer.
While using a single Beagle speaker with your computer, you can
enjoy in the quality sound by its advanced acoustic design and
furthermore, save 30% ~ 40% of power consumption for sound
reproduction.
NOTE You may need to terminate and then re-start your media
player or music playback software to configure Beagle as the
default computer speaker, if you removed Beagle speaker
while media player or any music playback software is running.

13
Motion Control
ψMotion Controlωis one of the most important features of Beagle
speaker. As Beagle speaker is an easy-of-use, easy-bringing, small
power handling USB speaker, we are not intended to put complicated
control functions in it.
There is only ON/OFF function (so call
MUTE function in Digital Audio design) was
built-in the speaker for users. To activate the
function, simply wave your hand, finger or
any object near top of the speaker, the
playing sound will stop or play immediately.
There is an optical sensor on top of Beagle
as indicated by red circle, once it is shielding, Beagle speaker will
toggle ON/OFF accordingly.
By our SAP (Simple As Possible) design concept, all the other audio
control should be made by computer because Beagle speaker is
originally designed for laptop computer and it is working close to your
computer. It will be a waste to have double audio control system in
the environment and computer software can always provide updates
control functions at all time.
Travel With Beagle Speaker
A dedicated Beagle speaker carry bag was bundled
in the package that provides a safe way to let Beagle
speaker travel with laptop computer with ease.
NOTE Optical sensor switch is designed to operate effective within 5
~ 10mm.

14
ADVANCED SETUP
Embedding the Be-Twin®technology, each Beagle is capable of
auto-configuring and playing a proper role in the stereo system
automatically. Both circuit and pedestal of Beagle are special
designed for stereo combination with magnetic alignment function.
You can build up a stereo Beagle on your finger tip.
Bottom Design of Beagle Speaker
To Get Stereo Sounds
Though we emphasize that one single Beagle speaker is enough for
regular daily use and provides quality sound with power-saving
feature. Sometimes, you will need stereo sound for different purposes,
e.g. computer gaming, music listening, language learning...etc. In this
case, you will need a stereo sound system to help you to hear the
vocal details clearly.
Fortunately, every single Beagle speaker is built-in unique Be-Twin®
technology. Be-Twin®technology makes any Beagle speaker
capable of working with another Beagle speaker as a real stereo
system by its smart auto-configuring circuit design.
Before we go on the stereo system setup instructions, please be
patient to take a look at the above Beagle bottom design and
Pedestal design. Both of them are keys to build a Beagle stereo
system.

Supporting Speaker: connecting with Master speaker by stereo
adapter/cable, and reproducing LEFT
channel of sound track.
Boomerang Style

assemble 2 Beagle speakers, you will find it’s easy to build a high
quality stereo speaker in few seconds. Meanwhile, it’s also easy to
de-assemble into individual Beagle speakers for
different users.

with 3.5mm audio jacks. Surely, the one which connecting with
computer is the Master speaker, please put it at you computer right
side, and the supporting speaker at left side to have accurate sound
reproduction.

17
STEP 1
Put 2 sets of Beagle speakers at both sides of computer. The right
side speaker is working as Master speaker, left side speaker is
working as Supporting speaker.
STEP 2
Plug Mini B type USB connector into
Pedestal USB adapter and 3.5mm
Audio Cable into Pedestal EXT port
of the Master speaker.
STEP 3
Plug the other end of 3.5mm Audio
Cable into Pedestal EXT port of the
Supporting speaker.
