VOICE RECOGNITION1AND BLUETOOTH®2
Using Voice Recognition
Improve Bluetooth®Voice Recognition (VR) performance
by making a few simple changes to your phone contacts:
• Use full names (first and last names) vs. short
or single-syllable names (“John Smith” vs. “Dad,”
“Smith Residence” vs. “Home”).
• Avoid using special characters, emojis, and hyphenated
names (@, &, #, /, -, *, +, etc.).
• Avoid using acronyms (“Emergency” vs. “ICE” or “In
Case of Emergency”) or words with all capital letters.
• Spell words completely; system will not recognize
abbreviations (“Doctor Smith” vs. “Dr. Smith”).
• Always wait for the beep before speaking
any commands.
• When using VR to place a call, speak in a natural,
moderate tone, with clear pronunciation. The system
may have trouble recognizing commands if you speak
too softly or too loudly.
• Open windows, sunroof, weather (wind/rain), or an
A/C fan operating at higher speeds can interfere with
VR accuracy.
• Your VR system may have difficulty understanding
some accents or uncommon names.
• Press the talk button and say “Help” to get a list of
available commands.
Pairing or Connecting Your Phone with Bluetooth®
• Press the Phone hard key (if equipped) or “Call” button
on the steering wheel to begin the pairing process if
no phone has previously been paired.
• During the pairing process, please make sure you
accept all requests for phonebook download and
future auto-connection on your phone.
• To pair a second phone or subsequent phones, reference
the manuals and guides supplied with your Soul as
steps vary by radio.
• If you experience any issues with auto-connection, try
the following:
• Reboot your phone (turn the phone off and then on).
• Update the phone operating system to the most
recently released version.
• Delete the phone from the list of Bluetooth®devices
on the UVO display1and delete UVO from the list of
Bluetooth®devices on your phone, and re-pair.
• Ensure the phone has the Bluetooth®feature
activated.
• If some contacts are not downloading to the UVO
display, check to confirm that the contact has been
entered correctly and that it has been stored under
the categories (HOME, MOBILE, WORK, iPhone®3)
that are supported by the UVO display. Some
contact categories (MAIN, PAGER, OTHER) may not
be supported. If the number of contacts exceeds
the maximum number allowed on the UVO display,
contacts will be partially downloaded. Ensure that
only the “phone contact list” is selected for contact
download on your phone (not social media or email
contact lists as these contacts may not download
to the UVO display).
• Phone operating systems change frequently and some
phones may have varying compatibility levels with the
Bluetooth®system. For any questions regarding the
features of your vehicle, please contact your preferred
Kia dealer or contact Kia Consumer Assistance at
1-800-333-4542.
Other Bluetooth®Tips
• Bluetooth®reception is affected by carrier coverage
and is dependent on the phone.
• If streaming audio through Bluetooth®from a device,
ensure the listening volume on the device is turned up.

LANE KEEPING ASSIST (LKA)*5/ LANE DEPARTURE WARNING (LDW)*5
With the Engine Start/Stop button in the ON position, press the LKA button Ato turn
the system ON or OFF. Once ON, the instrument cluster indicator will illuminate
white. It will remain white when vehicle is traveling less than 40 mph and the system
does not detect the lane markers. When the LKA system detects the lane markers and
can assist the steering, the LKA icon will illuminate green.
If your turn signal is not on and the LKA detects that you are moving outside of your lane,
the system may give an audible warning and display an LDW (Lane Departure Warning)
alert on the instrument cluster. If the vehicle continues to move outside of the lane, the
LKA will apply a slight adjustment to the steering, trying to prevent the vehicle from
moving outside its lane. If you change lanes quickly without a turn signal, the steering
will not be assisted. Standard LKA is the default operating mode when the LKA button
is depressed to ON.
LKA Function Change*
The driver can change LKA to LDW or change the LKA mode to Active LKA, LKA, LDW, or
OFF from the User Settings Mode on the LCD display.
Lane Keeping Assist*
The LKA mode guides the driver to keep the vehicle within the lanes. It starts to adjust
the steering wheel when the vehicle is about to deviate from the lanes.
Active LKA*
The Active LKA mode provides more frequent steering wheel adjustments in comparison with the LKA mode. Active LKA
can help reduce driver fatigue by assisting with the steering to maintain the vehicle in the middle of the lane.
Lane Departure Warning*
LDW alerts the driver with a visual and acoustic warning when the system detects the vehicle leaving the lane. In this
mode, the steering wheel will not be adjusted. When the vehicle’s front wheel contacts the inside edge of the lane line,
LKA issues the lane departure warning.
Off
LKA/LDW function is OFF.
All systems will operate under the following conditions:
• The vehicle exceeds approximately 40 mph.
• The vehicle is between the lane markers.
• The LKA system recognizes the lane the vehicle is traveling in.
• LKA/LDW will return to its previous state when the engine is turned off and back on again.
FORWARD COLLISION-AVOIDANCE ASSIST-PEDESTRIAN (FCA-PED)*5/ FORWARD COLLISION WARNING (FCW)*5
The FCA-Ped is designed to help alert the driver and, under certain conditions, apply
emergency braking, when rapidly approaching a pedestrian or vehicle that is slowing down,
braking or stopped. Initially, the FCA-Ped provides FCW when it detects a potential collision
with a vehicle in front, emitting an audible warning and visual alert on the instrument
cluster A. Adjust the alert settings (Early, Normal, Late) in the User Settings. To turn the
FCA-Ped/FCW off, go to User Settings again and turn off.
If the system detects that the collision risk has increased, the FCA-Ped can automatically
apply the brakes to reduce your speed, potentially helping to minimize the effects of a
possible collision. FCA-Ped can be turned ON in the User Settings menu on the Instrument
Cluster display.
The FCA-Ped/FCW will become active when the:
• Engine Start/Stop button is ON.
• Vehicle is traveling more than 5 mph.
• Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is ON.
Warning: FCA-Ped and FCW are supplemental systems. Never intentionally attempt to activate or test the operation of
the systems. Do not solely rely on the systems and always drive safely.
BLIND-SPOT COLLISION WARNING (BCW)*5
The BCW System uses radar sensors to help alert the driver if it detects an approaching
vehicle in the driver’s blind spot area before changing lanes in certain situations. The
BCW System is ON when the button is pressed and the light is illuminated. The outside
rearview mirror warning lights will also illuminate for 3 seconds.
The system will become active when the vehicle is traveling more than 20 mph and will
alert the driver if another vehicle is detected by the radar sensor.
1st-stage alert: When another vehicle is detected within the BCW System boundary,
or when a vehicle is detected within the Lane Change Assist boundary, a yellow indicator
will illuminate on the outside rearview mirrors.
2nd-stage alert: When 1st-stage alert is on and the driver activates a turn signal, a
flashing yellow indicator will illuminate on the outside rearview mirrors and the system
will sound an alert.
REAR CROSS-TRAFFIC COLLISION WARNING (RCCW)*5/ REAR CROSS-TRAFFIC COLLISION AVOIDANCE ASSIST (RCCA)*5
If the RCCW system sensors detect approaching vehicles from the rear left or rear right
side of the vehicle while the shift lever is in Reverse, the system will sound an audible
alert, the warning indicators on the outside rearview mirror will illuminate and a message
will appear on the audio control unit screen. The RCCA system may activate the Electronic
Stability Control (ESC) to help avoid an imminent collision. RCCW/RCCA is designed to
operate under these following conditions:
• When the gear shift is in Reverse.
• When the vehicle is moving less than 6 mph.
Reminders:
• The RCCW/RCCA feature can be turned OFF/ON in User Settings.
• The RCCW/RCCA system will show a warning if the approaching vehicle speed is
between 2.5-22 mph within sensing range. See Owner’s Manual for other conditions.
• The RCCW/RCCA systems are supplemental systems. Do not solely rely on these
systems and always pay attention to the road and its conditions.

REAR LIFTGATE OPERATION
For a manual key vehicle (no remote), turn the driver’s door key one time to unlock the
driver’s door, and turn the key two times to unlock all doors (including the liftgate).
For vehicles with a Smart Key* or flip-out key/remote, the remote liftgate button ( Aheld
for 1 second) only unlocks the liftgate, and does not physically open the liftgate door.
For Smart Key operation ONLY, just depress the liftgate handle switch to unlock and open
the liftgate (the vehicle detects the Smart Key, unlocks the liftgate lock, and allows the
liftgate to open upon switch activation).
REMOTE START*7
You can start the vehicle using the remote start button Bon the smart key.
To start the vehicle remotely:
• Lock the doors by pressing the door lock button within 32 feet (10 meters) distance
from the vehicle.
• Within 4 seconds after locking the doors, press and hold the remote start button B.
Press the remote start button once to turn off the vehicle.
If no further action for operation/driving the vehicle is taken, the vehicle will be turned
off 10 minutes after starting the vehicle remotely.
DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSMISSION*
The Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) gives the driving feel of a manual transmission, yet provides the ease of a fully
automatic transmission. To hold the vehicle stationary on an incline, the service brake or parking brake MUST be used
or the gear shift MUST be in the (P) Park position.
A slight lag may be experienced at takeoff from standstill during aggressive acceleration maneuvers. If the clutch is
overheating, an amber-colored warning light will be displayed in the instrument cluster. Should this condition occur,
pull over and place the vehicle in Park and idle the engine.
