The car that lives
your way(s).
In the space of a few hours, pristine ski slopes
could be replaced by downtown traffic. Some
cars might find such a journey traumatic. Not the
XC70. Advanced technology such as Adaptive
Cruise Control (ACC) ensures that wherever life
might take you, your XC70 won’t utter a single
word of complaint.

Safe by nature – human nature.
Try to imagine a car that can see. A car that can think. A car that can intuitively react. Sounds
like science fiction, right? Not in the case of the XC70. Its brain consists of some of the most
powerful micro processing technology in the automotive world. Its eyes are advanced radar and
digital camera technology. And its intuition? How about Collision Warning with Auto Brake (CWAB),
Driver Alert Control (DAC) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). Of course, we realise that no
safety equipment can compensate for a fully alert and responsive driver, but with the support of
these, and many other outstanding features, everyone lucky enough to travel in an XC70 enjoys
world class driving safety. Naturally.

Power liberates.
Consider where the XC70 can take you and you won’t be surprised
to learn about its engine program. For maximum performance, we
recommend you consider the new T6. This six-cylinder, 304 hp twin-
scroll turbocharged petrol engine delivers immediate response at all
revs. Or how about the new, impressively efficient D5? Its five-cylinder,
2.4 litre direct-injection turbodiesel engine develops 205 hp and 420 Nm
of max torque. The XC70 is even available as a DRIVe alternative.
Without compromising on performance, the DRIVe model satisfies
itself with a mere 5.8 litres of fuel per 100 km and emits a modest
154 g CO2/km. Add transmissions that include the six-speed Geartronic
automatic or a six-speed manual and, of course, Haldex®AWD all-wheel
drive and enjoy liberating power wherever you find yourself.

Going downhill was never
this uplifting.
Hill Descent Control is one of the Volvo XC70’s outstanding features. By simply
pushing a button, it offers smooth, controlled and safe descents on steep,
rough roads. The system controls braking on each wheel, allowing you to
concentrate fully on steering. Away from the wilderness, Hill Descent Control
also makes it easier to move off when towing a heavy trailer.

context of cars but one that takes on a whole

Volvo XC70’s 40/20/40 split rear seats for
example. The flexibility they deliver in terms of
combining cargo and passengers let’s you load

Thankfully, the automotive industry is moving away from fantasyland to the real world. Our
journey towards a better environment started already in the early 70’s. Then we were among
the first carmakers to acknowledge the environmental downside of cars and to do something
about it. Since then we are constantly innovating to reduce the environmental impact of the
cars and how we make them.
Today’s biggest challenge is, of course, to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions that cause
climate change. Today we offer one of the premium segments strongest ranges of low CO2
alternatives: the Volvo DRIVe variants. Utilising innovative powertrain technology together
with advanced aerodynamics, low friction technology and lightweight materials, the DRIVe
range is an important step towards zero emissions.
In near future we will introduce new technology such as plug-in hybrid vehicles that will further
reduce CO2emissions and can be charged from a standard wall socket. And we’re heavily
engaged in the development of electrical vehicles – a technology that will dramatically reduce

Cleaner exhaust.
Fast responding after a cold star t, Volvo’s advanced emission
control eliminates between 95 and 99% of carbon monoxide,
hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides from petrol engine exhaust
gases. The Volvo turbodiesels feature a particulat e filter
that removes about 95% of the particl es from the diesel
exhaust gases. Most engines comply with stringent Euro 5
emission requirements.
Fresh cabin air.
Continuously monitoring incoming air and shutting out
carbon monoxide, ground-level ozone and nitrogen dioxide,
Volvo’s Interior Air Quality System helps ensure that the air
you breathe in the car is cleaner than that outside when
driving in heavy city traffic.

To reduce energy-losses from wind and roll resist ance, we
utilise advanced aerodynamic design, light-weight materials
and low friction technology. Together with state-of-the-art

EXTERIOR DESIGN. The XC70’s muscular yet
lean design characteristics can both seduce and
deceive. Its seductive nature is obvious. Horizontal
lines give the car a wide, low look while the vertical
design qualities have been emphasised to create a
tough, rugged and stable impression. As for deceptive,
we were referring to load capacity. And in the case
of the XC70, this is anything but lean. The XC70 is
also a blank page on which you can write your own
personal signature by adding side scuff plates,
aluminium crossbars, a roof spoiler or any one of

Perforated leather
Designed for use with ventilated seats, this qualit y is made with
buf fed leather. Central seat panels are perforated, efficiently
managing body moisture while adding an aesthetic quality.
Duved textile/vinyl
This rugged looking upholstery combines two materials. The
contemporar y textile upholstery is trimmed with durable vinyl
hide that has a leather look and feel.
Leather
This is a hide quality that’s comfortable, durable and has a coarse grain
pattern. Like all Volvo leather, it’s organically tanned and ages beautifully.
