Kia 2020 Telluride Assembly instructions

VEHICLE FEATURE TIPS
Many of the Tips presented below are covered in greater detail in the
Owner’s Manual, Multimedia System Manuals, Features and Functions
Guide, and Quick-Start Guide hangtag supplied with your new vehicle.
VOICE RECOGNITION1AND BLUETOOTH®2
Using Voice Recognition
Improve Bluetooth®Voice Recognition (VR) performance
by making a few simple changes to your phone contacts:
• Use full names (first and last names) vs. short
or single-syllable names (“John Smith” vs. “Dad,”
“Smith Residence” vs. “Home”).
• Avoid using special characters, emojis, and hyphenated
names (@, &, #, /, -, *, +, etc.).
• Avoid using acronyms (“Emergency” vs. “ICE” or “In
Case of Emergency”) or words with all capital letters.
• Spell words completely; system will not recognize
abbreviations (“Doctor Smith” vs. “Dr. Smith”).
• Always wait for the beep before speaking
any commands.
• When using VR to place a call, speak in a natural,
moderate tone, with clear pronunciation. The system
may have trouble recognizing commands if you speak
too softly or too loudly.
• Open windows, sunroof, weather (wind/rain), or an
A/C fan operating at higher speeds can interfere with
VR accuracy.
• Your VR system may have difficulty understanding
some accents or uncommon names.
• Press the talk button and say “Help” to get a list of
available commands.
Pairing or Connecting Your Phone with Bluetooth®
• Press the Phone hard key (if equipped) or “Call” button
on the steering wheel to begin the pairing process if
no phone has previously been paired.
• During the pairing process, please make sure you
accept all requests for phonebook download and
future auto-connection on your phone.
• To pair a second phone or subsequent phones, reference
the manuals and guides supplied with your Telluride
as steps vary by radio.
• If you experience any issues with auto-connection, try
the following:
• Reboot your phone (turn the phone off and then on).
• Update the phone operating system to the most
recently released version.
• Delete the phone from the list of Bluetooth®devices
on the UVO display1and delete UVO from the list of
Bluetooth®devices on your phone, and re-pair.
• Ensure the phone has the Bluetooth®feature
activated.
• If some contacts are not downloading to the UVO
display, check to confirm that the contact has been
entered correctly and that it has been stored under
the categories (HOME, MOBILE, WORK, iPhone®3)
that are supported by the UVO display. Some
contact categories (MAIN, PAGER, OTHER) may not
be supported. If the number of contacts exceeds
the maximum number allowed on the UVO display,
contacts will be partially downloaded. Ensure that
only the “phone contact list” is selected for contact
download on your phone (not social media or email
contact lists as these contacts may not download to
the UVO display).
• Phone operating systems change frequently and some
phones may have varying compatibility levels with the
Bluetooth®system. For any questions regarding the
features of your vehicle, please contact your preferred
Kia dealer or contact Kia Consumer Assistance at
1-800-333-4542.
Other Bluetooth®Tips
• Bluetooth®reception is affected by carrier coverage
and is dependent on the phone.
• If streaming audio through Bluetooth®from a device,
ensure the listening volume on the device is turned up.

SAFE EXIT ASSIST (SEA) SYSTEM6
The Safe Exit Assist (SEA) system can help prevent passengers from opening their door
after your vehicle has stopped when it detects a vehicle approaching from behind by
displaying a warning message on the Instrument Cluster and sounding an audible warning.
To turn on the SEA system, go to User Settings menu, select Driver Assistance, then
Blind-Spot,
7and select Safe Exit Assistance.
HIGHWAY DRIVING ASSIST (HDA) SYSTEM*8
The Highway Driving Assist (HDA) system is designed to automatically adjust the speed
of the vehicle to changing speed limits when driving on federal highways based on
available highway speed information.
To turn the HDA system on, go to User Settings in the Instrument Cluster. Go to Drive
Assistance > Driving Assist > Highway Driving Assist and press the OK button on the
Steering Wheel.
The HDA system will operate only when these conditions are met:
• The vehicle is traveling slower than 95 mph.
• When driving on federal highways.
• When the Smart Cruise Control (SCC)7is on and operating.
• When the SCC speed is set to current federal highway speed.
When the HDA system is activated and the conditions are met, the Instrument Cluster
indicator light will illuminate green. If the conditions are not met, the HDA system will
be in standby mode and the indicator light will illuminate white.
When in operation, and if both lanes are recognized, a display will show the lanes
illuminated white and the steering wheel indicator illuminated green.
If HDA is activated, conditions are met and the SCC speed is set by the driver (at the posted
highway speed limit or slower), the HDA system will enter the automatic speed setting
mode. The set speed and AUTO will be displayed in green and an audible alert will sound.
Reminders:
• If the driver changes the speed while in automatic speed setting mode, it
deactivates and enters a manual mode.
• When the ignition is cycled, the system returns to its previous state, on or off.

BLIND-SPOT COLLISION AVOIDANCE-REAR (BCA-R)7/ BLIND-SPOT COLLISION WARNING (BCW)7
The BCA-R system uses radar sensors in the rear bumper to help monitor and warn the
driver if it detects an approaching vehicle in the driver’s blind spot area. It activates when
the vehicle is traveling faster than 20 mph and will alert the driver if another vehicle is
detected by the radar sensor.
To activate the BCA-R system, go to User Settings by pressing the Mode button on
the Steering Wheel. Select Driver Assistance > Blind Spot Safety and then press the OK
button. Select Active Assist, Warning Only, or Off.
To set the initial warning activation time, go to User Settings > Driver Assistance >
Warning Time and press the OK button. Select the Normal or the Later option.
With the Engine Start/Stop button in the ON position, press the BCA-R button to turn the
system ON. The button light will illuminate. The outside rearview mirror warning lights
will also illuminate for 3 seconds.
1st-stage alert: When another vehicle is detected within the BCA-R system warning
boundary, a yellow indicator will illuminate on the outside rearview mirrors.
2nd-stage alert: When 1st stage alert is on and the driver activates a turn signal, a
flashing yellow indicator will illuminate on the outside rearview mirrors and the system
will sound an alert.
Quick Tip:
• The BCA-R system will activate when:
• The system is turned on.
• The vehicle speed is above approximately 20 mph.
• Other vehicles are detected on the rear sides of the vehicle.
Reminders:
• The BCA-R system will not issue a warning if the vehicle speed is 6 mph or more
above the surrounding vehicles.
• When the BCA-R is ON and the ignition is cycled, the BCA-R system returns to its
previous state.
• The BCA-R and BCW systems are supplemental systems. Do not solely rely on
these systems. Always pay attention to the road and drive safely.
HIGH BEAM ASSIST (HBA)*9
HBA is designed to automatically adjust the headlight range by switching between high and low beams based on light
detected from other vehicles and road conditions.
To enable HBA, toggle the light switch to the AUTO Light position and turn on the high beams by pushing the lever away
from you. The High Beam Assist indicator will illuminate.
Reminders:
• HBA will operate when vehicle speed exceeds 25 mph.

FORWARD COLLISION-AVOIDANCE ASSIST-PEDESTRIAN (FCA-PED)7/ FORWARD COLLISION WARNING (FCW)7
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist-Pedestrian (FCA-Ped) is designed to help alert the
driver and, under certain conditions, apply emergency braking when rapidly approaching
a vehicle that is slowing down, braking or stopped, or if it detects a pedestrian in front of
the vehicle. Initially, FCA-Ped provides Forward Collision Warning (FCW) when it detects a
potential collision with a vehicle or a pedestrian in front, emitting an audible warning and
visual alert on the instrument cluster. Adjust the alert settings (Active Assist, Warning
Only, Off) in the User Settings. To turn FCA-Ped/FCW off, go to User Settings again and
turn off.
If the system detects that the collision risk has increased, FCA-Ped can automatically
apply the brakes to reduce your speed, potentially helping to minimize the effects
of a possible collision. FCA-Ped can be turned ON in the User Settings menu on the
Instrument Cluster display.
FCA-Ped/FCW will become active when the:
• Engine Start/Stop button is ON.
• Vehicle is traveling faster than 5 mph.
• Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is ON.
Reminders:
• FCA-Ped/FCW will be activated by default when the ignition is cycled ON, even when
the previous setting was OFF.
• FCA-Ped/FCW will not operate when the vehicle is traveling faster than
approximately 45/50 mph, respectively.
• If FCA-Ped is operating and the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is turned off,
FCA-Ped system is automatically turned off.
• When the FCA-Ped system is off, the FCA-Ped warning indicator is on in the
Instrument Cluster.
Warning: FCA-Ped and FCW are supplemental systems. Never intentionally attempt to activate
or test the operation of the systems. Do not solely rely on the systems and always drive safely.
