INSTALLATION TIPS
SENSITIVITY ADJUSTMENT TROUBLESHOOTING
OPERATION
318-054 FEATURES SPECIFICATIONS
1. To make the Warning Trigger more sensitive, turn the “1st Stage” trigger knob clockwise. Turn it
counterclockwise to decrease sensitivity. (This tells the car alarm to produce Warning Chirps from the Siren.)
2. The Alarm Blast “2nd Stage” Trigger cannot be more sensitive than Warning Trigger because the Warning
Trigger sensitivity knob automatically adjusts the maximum sensitivity of the Alarm Blast Trigger to 80% of the
Warning Trigger setting.
EXAMPLE: Let’s turn the Warning Trigger Sensitivity knob to 50%. Even if you turn the Alarm Trigger
knob all the way to 100%, its sensitivity is still lower than the Warning Trigger range as shown below.
To get more Alarm Trigger sensitivity requires increasing Warning Trigger sensitivity.
This shock sensor detects vibrations in the vehicle body and outputs 2 types of signals based on the strength of
the vibration. Dual sensitivity knobs allow you to cater the trigger thresholds in accordance with the physical
size of your vehicle. See “Sensitivity Adjustment” below for details.
NEVER mount the sensor to metal because the sensitivity will become so high it may false trigger. Install only
on firm plastic parts using the included 2-sided tape. You can even affix the sensor to the outside of the plastic
center column in plain view so long as it’s in a place you won’t accidentally kick.
When parking near a busy road or construction site, if you have the sensitivity set very high (usually
higher than 50%), the sensor may false trigger. Simply reduce sensitivity to solve the problem, or use
the Sensor Bypass feature of your security system to temporarily disable the shock sensor.

RF INTERFERENCE:
● Never install RF antennae or mount mobile phones within 20cm of the sensor.
● Never install the sensor or its wire harness near any sources of RF.
● Never tie the sensor wires to other wires because such may case false triggering.

Affix sensor only to firm plastic, never metal, on the inside of the car using included 2-sided tape.
Clean off oily or dirty surfaces before affixing with 2-sided tape. We recommend brake cleaner or similarly
strong degreaser to ensure the tape sticks and the sensor will never fall off over time. Install only on
flat surfaces. Curved surfaces will cause only part of the tape to stick. Note that if you affix and remove the
sensor & tape multiple times, the tape will weaken and will need to be replaced.
● Never yank hard on the wire harness when attached.
● Avoid installing in these locations:
1. Direct sunlight
2. Near heat sources
3. Anywhere where water could damage the sensor
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION NOTES:
 ● Connect the sensor directly to a VISION or SCIBORG car alarm using the connector.
 ● Never T-tap the sensor’s RED or BLK wires for powering something else.
 ● If you test the sensor after its connected and see no light on the LEDs, check sensitivity
and then check that all sensor connectors are fully seated.
If after checking sensitivity and wiring you find the LEDs won’t light when you tap on the sensor, it
could be the sensing element inside the sensor is rotated out of position. This can happen if the
sensor is dropped or jostled during shipping. Do this to confirm and fix:
1. Disconnect the sensor.
2. Use a small flathead screwdriver to slowly pry open the plastic housing.
3.
If shifted, return the suspended IR reflector to its “NORMAL” position shown below.
4. Close the sensor and reconnect.
