2. Contents of the package
• 1 display (with four connectors attached)
• 1 adapter (for easy ground fitting)
• 1 welding nut (M18 x1,5)
• 1 instruction manual
• 1 wide-band lambda sensor
• 1 contra connector (to attach the 3 pole connector)
3. Installation of the lambda display
When you open the box, you can see that the lambda controller display has 4
cables with connectors.
How to connect :
• Connector (heater ground)
Connect to ground (chassis).
• 3 pole connector
Pin 1 red : + 12 Volt
Pin 2 white : signal out
Pin 3 black : ground
Connector for power of the display and data
output to the KMS management ECU.

Version 1.01 4
• 9 pole connector serial port
This is the serial port to connect the
lambda controller to the KMS
management ECU for additional values
to be displayed . When you update the
firmware this cable has to be connected
to your pc.
• pole connector to lambda sensor
Connect to wide-band lambda sensor.
Place your UEGO controller at a dry place where the temperature don’t exceed 65
°C.
(note : don’t place the UEGO controller and wires near any ‘high powered’ cables
like the cables for the sparkplugs, because of electrical interference.)

4. Installation of the lambda sensor
The Lambda sensor needs to be fitted in the exhaust. (see appendix
Installation angle should be inclined at least 10° towards horizontal
(electrical connection upwards). Thus preventing the collection of liquids
between sensor housing and sensor element during the cold start phase.
(note : for hot applications (THexagon>500°C the thread boss should be at least
13 mm or longer to avoid overheating of the protection tube welding and to cool
down the sensor hexagon.
Recommended material for the thread boss in the exhaust pipe :
Temperature resistant stainless steel.
(note : The use of cleaning/greasing fluids or evaporating solids at the sensor
plug connection is not permitted.

5. Controlling the display
The lambda display has two buttons.
With these two buttons you can control al the
options on this device.
These controls are located on the right side of
the display.
This is the ‘enter’ button. With this button you can confirm the task that
is displayed on the device.
It’s also the button to open the menu of the display.
This is the scrolling button. You can scroll down the menu with this
button.
By touching the ‘scrolling down button’ you can dim your
display for the time being. These adjustments aren’t saved
when you start the display again.

6. What do yo see on the display?
When you have connected the display at the
right way then you will see this starting
screen.
After this screen the controller will heat the
lambda sensor (750 °C) before it will begin to
work.
This may take 10-15 sec.
(note : if you don’t have a lambda sensor attached you can still see and modify the
options in the menu by pressing the scrolling down button
When the sensor is heated up you can see the air/fuel ratio that your lambda
sensor has measured. If your car hasn’t run for a while then the display will show
you a high number because of the high percentage of oxygen in the exhaust.
This display on the right shows when everything is
ready to use. (under normal condition when the
engine is shut of for quite a while. Environment
values like temperature depends on the place
where the car stands)
The displayed settings are the default settings.
(note : if you want to change these settings you can adjust them in the menu

7. The men
When you push the enter button ( ) you get access to the menu.
In the menu you can change the settings of the lambda controller and change the
displayed values. You can also change the data-transfer type between the lambda
controller and the KMS management system.
This is the starting screen of the menu.
You can choose the different options here.
By pushing the scroll button ( ) you can
scroll threw the entire menu. You can select
an option by pushing the enter button.
Here is a list of the menu options with their explanations for adjusting the display.
Exit
this will lead back to the main display screen.
Brightness
Here you can change the brightness
of the screen. You can make the
screen brighter or darker by
selecting and confirming. ( you can
push more times for darker or
brighter display ). When you’re
done select save and exit.

Disp refreshrate
Choose here for the options :
- bargraphtrailing (speed of
tracking along the bar)
-number refreshrate (how many
times the signal refreshes per
second)
In this bargraph trailing sub-menu
you can increase or decrease the
trailinglevel what will appear at
‘trailinglevel …’.
Scroll down for ‘save and exit’.
Number refreshrate stands for
increasing or decreasing the data
adjusting time. You can see the
rating appear at ‘refreshrate
…/sec’.
Scroll down for ‘save and exit’.
Afr or lambda
In this menu you can select how
the lambda value is
displayed(A/F or λ).
This will be displayed at ‘display
in …’ and at the main screen
display.

Extra channels
In this sub-menu you can change
the channel value in the left
(channel 1) en right (channel 2)
corner of your main screen
display.
At channel 1 you can
toggle for the left corner
‘air’ or ‘water’ in °C or
°F. Or just turn it off.
This is data that comes
straight from the KMS
management ECU.
Afterwards press save and
exit.
At channel 2 you can
toggle for the right corner
‘oil’ or ‘boost’ in kPa or
psi. Or just turn it off. This
is data from the KMS
management ECU.
Afterwards press save and
exit.
Output signal
This menu is very important for
the data transfer between
lambda controller and KMS
management ECU. You have to
set this output type the same in
your KMS management ECU
because of the same process of
information.
(note : in the appendix you can find a graph with the resolution of the different
types of data transfer (type a, b or c .
The different data types stand for the kind of signal they give out.
Type C has an output of 0-10 Volt(wideband for more resolution in your signal .
Most systems can’t handle more then 5 Volt so check if your system can handle this
high voltage before you set the lambda controller to type C.
Check the KMS management manual for additional information

This shows you UEGO display
controller version number.
Firmware update
Updating your UEGO display
controller. Don’t update if the
9 pole connector isn’t
connected. And off course don’t
switch your controller off
because data may be lost.
Set default values
You can set your UEGO display
controller back to it’s original
settings and reset the device.
Com port
In this part of the menu you can
toggle between CAN and RS232
communication. On the new
MD35 systems is CAN
communication integrated. You
can select the speed of the CAN
depending on your system.

Problem Cause Solution
Display doesn’t start - Power is below 11 Volt
- Ground is not correctly
connected
- Check power supply,
minimum of 11 Volt
- Check the wiring and maybe
reconnect
Extra channels not visible - No connection between ECU
and controller
- Check if com-cable is
connected to the KMS
management ECU
Lambda values stays on 1,00 or
A/F ratio 14,7
- Lambda sensor broken
- lambda sensor wiring
damaged
- Renew lambda sensor
- Repair broken wire
I/O error reading
- Controller wires constructed
near ‘high powered cables’
(magnetical interference)
- Power supply too low
- Change the place of you
controller/wires
- Check power supply,
minimum of 11 Volt

Appendix
Make sure that the lambda sensor doesn’t experience any pressure differences.
Because pressure differences gives the output signal a few percentage of deviation.
So don’t place the lambda sensor before the turbo in the exhaust and watch out for
back pressure from your exhaust.
(see chart below for pressure differences).
