Installation and maintenance must be done
by qualified plumbing professionals authorized by
Kohler.
If pressure exceeds 100 psi (689 kPa),
install a pressure reducing valve (Please consult
plumbing professionals authorized by Kohler for water
pressure measurement).
For cold water use only(Temperature
Range: 5-38 C) This softener must be protected
from freezing, which can cause cracking of the pipe
and water leakage. Drain this softener when room
temperature drops below 5 C.

Outdoor installation is not recommended, and voids
the warranty.
Do not install in direct sunlight outdoors or where
blowtorch or other high temperature sources are nearby.
In case of power off or power failure,please close the
System's inlet/outlet and open bypass circle,otherwise
the filter might keep in flush mode, this may cause
water leakage and property damage.

the timer case. The media tank serial number is located
on the top surface of the tank.

!Allow at least 6 inches (15cm) behind the unit for
plumbing and drain lines and 1.1 meters above for service
access and filling the salt container.

!Choose an area with solid, level floor free of bumps or
irregularities. Bumps, cracks, stones and other ir-
regularities can cause the salt storage tank bottom to
crack when filled with salt and water.

!A 1.5m cord and wall mount plug-in Power Adapter are
provided. The customer should provide a receptacle,
preferably one not controlled by a switch that can be
turned off accidentally. Observe local electrical codes.
NOTE: Thesoftenerworkson Ac12 Volt~,50 Hz
electrical power only. Besure to use theincluded
PowerAdapter. Besurethe Electrical Outlet and
PowerAdapter arein an inside location to protect

!Refer to Figure 3 and the instructions below to connect
the bypass valve, and male thread adapter kit.
1. All softener are equipped with a bypass valve. The
bypass valve is installed on the outlet side of the control
valve.
2. The adapter connects directly to the bypass valve with
two assembly clips. Lubricate all O-rings on the adapter
with silicone lubricant.

The bypass allows the softener to be isolated from the
water service line if service is necessary while still
providing water to the home.
The bypass valve can be connected with P/N 1271709
male thread adapter kit (Shipped with each softener is a
3/4" adapter.)
Refer to Figure 4 and the instructions below to turn the
bypass on.

Route a length of 1/2" drain line from the drain elbow to
the drain. (Drain elbow see figure5)
Fasten the drain line to the elbow with the clamp.
Secure the drain line to prevent its movement during
regeneration. When discharging into a sink, or open floor
drain, a loop in the end of the tube will keep it filled with
water and will reduce splashing at the beginning of each
regeneration.( Refer to Figure 6)

Plug the transformer into a 220 Volt, 50 Hz, Electrical
Outlet. The screen take up to 2 minutes to initialize,then
show standby display.
Set current date and time.
Set the language and region.
Set raw water hardness and people number.
Advanced settings (If Necessary).
!When the setup is complete, the circuit board
microprocessor automatically calculates softener capacity.
Then transitions to the home screen, and the screen
displays the initializing status and the current date and
time.

Ensure that all faucets at the installation site are closed.
Direct the drain line discharge into a bucket where flow
can be observed.
Open the main supply valve.
Initiate an immediate regeneration to move the control into
the BACKWASH position.
When in the BACKWASH position, slowly turn the bypass
on, allow the media tank to fill slowly until water flows from
the drain line.
When flow to drain is established, open the bypass fully.
Watch the drain line discharge for signs of impurity no
longer appears in the discharge.
After the BACKWASH runs clear, step the control to the
REFILL position to fill the brine tank and purge air from
the brine line.
Initiate an immediate regeneration again.
To observe the following step "Brine" is correct or not.
Pour salt into the brine tank, and Inform the customer
must add the salt before it be used up (Refer to Figure 7).
Complete the installation and cleanup.

Unit fails to initiate a
regeneration cycle.
Product water is hard.
Unit fails to
draw brine.

A. Electrical service is interrupted.
B. Power adapter failure.
C. Control Valve failure.
Assure permanent electrical service (check fuse, plug,
pull chain or switch).
Check the Power adapter is damaged or not, and call
service to replace it .
Contact Kohler service.
A. Salt be used up.
B. By-pass valve is opened or Internal
valve leaked.
C. Unit fails to draw brine.
D. Regeneration cycle time is too long.
E. Other.
Add the salt and start a manual regeneration
immediately.
Turn off the by-pass valve or replace the seal.
See solution No.3.
Set the related parameters again, shorten the
regeneration cycle time.
Contact Kohler service.
A. Inlet pressure is too low.
B. Eductor and eductor screen is blocked.
C. Brine line is blocked.
D. Brine line air leaks.
E. Set wrong salt amount parameter.
Increase pressure to more than 0.15MPa.
Clean parts.

Once you turn on the "Holiday Mode", the valve's
regeneration only has two cycles: Backwash and
Rinse. "Advanced Settings" is as the follows:

Holiday Mode can be selected in "Holiday Mode"
setting item. You should input the end of date of
holiday to let the valve clean the media during your
holiday.

Automatic Calculate mode and Manual Settings mode
can be selected in the "Advanced Settings" item. The
key regeneration parameters (Capacity, Refill Time,
etc.) can be calculated in the "Automatic Calculate"
mode.

Four Regeneration modes can be selected to meet
different installation environment.

This setting controls the time of day when
regeneration will start.

the unit will initiate regeneration
at the next pre-set regeneration time based on the
interval of days between regeneration days.
the unit will initiate regeneration
immediately after the volume remaining reaches
zero.
this is the most common setting.

system will initiate regeneration at the next preset
regeneration time.
when the volume remaining
reaches zero, the system will initiate regeneration
at the next pre-set regeneration time. If the days
between regeneration are reached before the
volume remaining reaches zero, the system will
override the meter setting and initiate regeneration.

This value is the interval (days) between
regenerations. It is used to determine how many
days between regenerations.

!Data Entry
This setting is used to calculate the key
regeneration parameters (Capacity, Salt Amount,
Refill Time, etc.). These data should be input
correctly, wrong data will cause the unit doesn't
work properly.

!Water Usage
This setting is used to calculate the interval days
between regenerations. Monthly Water Usage is
the water usage of average of months
!
!Regen. Cycle
Backwash time controls the length of time for the
unit to clean the bed by reversing the flow of water
upwards through the bed and out to the drain.
Brine time controls the length of time for the unit to
draw regeneration (brine for softeners) from the
brine tank and slowly rinse the media tank.
Rinse time controls the length of time to give the
tank a final rinse from the top to the bottom in
order to remove any residual brine from the resin.
Refill time controls the length of time which the
brine valve will open to refill the brine tank with
water in order to produce the regeneration solution
for the next regeneration. The water accurately
measured through the valves brine line flow control
to make a precise quantity of regeneration solution.
