T e Researc
& Design department is staffed by experienced engineers
wit knowledge of CAD / CAM / CAE programs, w ile t e
processing department is fully equipped wit state-of-t e-art
CNC processing centers. T e design and implementation of
electronics and electrical devices is processed by t e testing
laboratory, w ic is t e main factor for t e complete
production of mec anical, electrical and electronic equipment
by expanding t e already large range of our products.
Kollias Ltd. is investing in t e logistics infrastructure
and t roug out t e ig level network of partners and
suppliers, t e company meets t e most demanding

Industrial roller s utters are electrically driven devices designed to meet exposures complying wit
t e European Directive 305/2011/ΕΕ, w ic are certified by a notified laboratory under European
Standard EN 13241-1. Industrial roller s utters ave adjustable operating speed and resistance to large
wind pressures.

As it is s own in Figure 1, t e winding device is mounted on t e cantilever s aft w ic is supported
by t e vertical guides, in turn of w ic rest on t e building infrastructure. W ere feasible, support is
carried out directly on t e building components, ot erwise t e formation of a custom metal frame is
considered necessary.

T e structural elements of t e parts of t e device’s mec anical order, as well as t eir components,
are made of ot-dip galvanized steel s eets w ic are painted electrostatically wit a polyester base color
of 120 μm t ickness, initially subjected to a c emical pretreatment carried out in several stages prior to
dyeing to ac ieve a ig protection of materials and excellent ad esion of t e paint to t eir surface.
T e lowest part of t e curtain is equipped wit a single modular profile, w ic en ances its
robustness and stability. T e bottom bar as applied a ig quality EPDM reinforced rubber to ensure
sealing wit t e floor.
T e rotation of t e roller s utter’s s aft around of w ic t e curtain is wrapped, is ensured by a
t ree-p ase electric motor to w ic a suitable gear reducer is fitted. T e transmission assembly consists
of t e c ain, sprockets and scroll bearings (Figure 2).

T e alt of t e screen at t e boundary transport positions is ensured by means of terminal
switc es, w ile for additional safety provision is made for t e installation of mec anical terminals.
To avoid uncontrolled downward movement of t e curtain, a centrifugal brake is provided to
ensure mec anical locking and immobility (Figure 3). In addition, in order to avoid potential azards, t e
device may be equipped (optionally) wit p otocells and pressure sensors.

In cases of power failure, roller s utters can be operated manually by two options. T e basic
manual operation equipment includes:
 Crank manual (basic equipment)
 C ain oist manual (optional equipment, after customer’s request)
In order to deal wit t e stress of t e device by strong winds, it is envisaged to place a calculated
number of anc ors, w ic are fixed and eld firmly to t e edges of t e profile of t e curtain.
T e anc or consists of a "bifurcated" plate in w ic two polyamide w eels are fitted. T e smoot
rotation of t e w eels is ac ieved by means of closed-type bearing rings (roller bearings), and evolves
into a suitably s aped cavity of t e vertical guide (Figure 4). In t is way it is possible to anc or t e curtain
on t e guides eliminating friction, damages and noise.
T e guide as longitudinal aluminum profiles of a suitable cross-section, t e fittings of w ic are
fitted wit EPDM rubber and PVC profiles respectively, eac performing a different task:
 PVC profile as a curved cross-section, so t at w en it comes into contact wit t e curtain,
smoot and silent sliding is ac ieved as t e coefficient of friction is significantly reduced.
 EPDM tire acts as a barrier for foreign particles t at can enter t e opening as well as a s ock
absorber caused by t e movement of t e curtain, w ic can cause noise.

All industrial roller s utters are equipped wit an electronic control board, t roug w ic t e
operation of motion is carried out. T e ascent and descent of t e curtain is ac ieved eit er by t e
prolonged pressing of t e control button, located on t e control board, or by ot er means, suc as t e
use of remote control, cameras, motion detection radar, p otocells etc.
T e electronic control board as an installed emergency button, w ic allows t e interruption of
motion in case of an emergency (Emergency stop), w ile for t e same reason it is compatible wit all
types of commercial motion detectors. In addition, it can be connected to a pair of industrial p otocells
(optional equipment), w ic are mounted in t e vertical guides, w ile it also as a built-in remote
control system wit rolling codes and a stabilized frequency of information transfer, special for industrial
conditions.
T e electronic control board as a digital communication port, wit our construction mac ines, e.g.
recording systems or INTERLOCK control systems, w ic serve to control t e operation of more t an one
device, communicating wit eac ot er, giving priority to eac ot er according to t e program. Finally, on
t e electronic board t ere are LED indicators, w ic give information about t e various positions and
activities of t e roller s utter. Furt ermore, it s ould also be noted t at t ere are models for products
t at carry special digital panels to ensure:

T e device may cooperate wit a lig t repeater (optional equipment), w ic signals all motions of
t e curtain, as well as its stay at t e upper terminal point for a given period before its descending.
Multiple repeaters or even a lig t signal may be placed on t e product if requested.
Finally, t e structure can be equipped wit a telescopic modular metal frame of wind protection,
w ere combined wit t e anc or system it offers muc more resistance to t e roller s utter against
wind pressure.
T e biggest advantage of t e present product is t e possibility of replacing or repairing all t e
mec anical and electrical parts from w ic it is composed.
It is worth noting that the type and size of the materials used in the present arrangement are
suggested by the manufacturer and therefore it is possible to modify some of them according to the
needs and the desire of the customer.
