Using the Blender
Preparation
• Place the jug assembly into position on the motor base and press down until
securely engaged (see Fig. 6 on page 10).
• Place the food you wish to blend into the blender jug, making sure you do not
overfill the jug. Always leave enough room at the top for the mixture to swirl
around.
• Place the lid on top of the blender jug and ensure it is properly in place. The lid
cap should securely cover the pouring hole in the lid.
• Before connecting the appliance to the power supply, make sure the Rotary
Speed Control is set to the OFF [ 0 ] position (see Fig. 7, page 11).
• When the appliance is plugged in, the backlit Rotary Speed Control will
illuminate.
Operation
• Place one hand on top of the blender lid and with the other hand select your
desired blending speed and start blending.
* Turn clockwise to select blending speed 1 – 5.Always start with a slow
speed and increase as necessary.
* Turn anticlockwise to the Pulse [ P ] setting for pulsing action.
* Press the ICE button for ice crushing.
• After your ingredients are properly blended, turn the Rotary Speed Control back
to the OFF [ 0 ] position and unplug the appliance from the power point.
• Wait until the blades no longer move before removing the blender jug. Simply lift
it off the motor base. No rotation is required.
Adding Ingredients
• To add ingredients to the jug during operation, stop operation and remove the
lid cap from the lid. Turn the cap anticlockwise and take it out.
• Add additional ingredients through the pouring hole in the lid, then replace the
lid cap and resume operation.

Instructions (Cont.)
For Best Results
• For best blending of solid and liquid ingredients, pour the liquid into the jug
first, then add the solids. If required, gradually add more liquid through the
pouring hole in the lid.
• Cut larger ingredients into smaller (2-3cm) pieces before adding them into the
blender jug.
• To prepare fruit smoothies using fresh fruit, peel, core and then cut the fruit
into pieces.
• Ensure all fruit juices are chilled before blending to keep drinks cold for longer.
• Freeze fresh fruit when it is in season to ensure you always have fruit on hand
and ready to blend for smoothies. Peel and chop fruit as necessary before
freezing. Frozen bananas make smoothies extra creamy.
• When making cocktails or other drinks with more than 6 ice cubes, use the
ICE button to ensure the ice is properly crushed.
• When using ice-cream for thick shakes, take it out of the freezer 5–10 minutes
before blending, and add it to the blender jug in small chunks.
• To achieve the best results when pureeing solid ingredients, place small
portions into the glass jug one by one instead of adding all ingredients at once.
Depending on the type of fruit or vegetable, you may have to add a little liquid
for a creamier consistency.
• For blending solid or very thick liquid ingredients we recommend using the
blender on the Pulse [ P ] setting in short bursts to prevent the blades from
becoming stuck.
CAUTION!
• Handle the blender with care, the cutting blades are very sharp.
• Always place your hand on top of the blender assembly when you are
operating the appliance.
• Do not process hot liquids in the jug.
• Do not overfill the blending jug, always allow some room for the blended
ingredients to swirl around in the jug.

FAQs and Troubleshooting Guide
Can I use the blender without the lid cap inside the lid?
No, the cap is part of the lid and must be in place for processing, otherwise you
risk food spilling out of the jug during processing. Remove the lid cap to add
ingredients, but make sure to replace it again for processing.
Blended food is leaking out of the glass jug. What has gone wrong?
If liquid is leaking out of the base of the jug, check and ensure that the jug
assembly is properly put together. The sealing ring should sit firmly on the inner
edge of the blade assembly, and the glass jug mounted securely on the jug base –
see page 9 for assembly instructions.
If food is leaking from the top of the jug, it may be overfilled. Always leave room in
the jug for processing. Also ensure the lid and lid cap are securely in place.
Does the glass jug come apart for cleaning?
Yes, the jug base and blade assembly can be removed for easy cleaning. Follow
the assembly instructions on page 9 in reverse order. Handle with care, the blades
are very sharp. Alternatively, let the machine run briefly for quick cleaning with a
little water and detergent, as described on the opposite page.
When should I use the Pulse function?
The Pulse function is useful for blending thicker or more solid ingredients, as
blending in short bursts prevents the blades from becoming stuck. It is also
recommended for blending ingredients which you do not want to overprocess but
retain a coarser consistency.
What is the best way to puree cooked vegetables for baby food?
For pureeing, feed small portions into the glass jug one by one instead of adding all
ingredients at once. Do not blend hot liquids; cooked vegetables should be cooled
to room temperature before processing. Depending on the type of vegetable, you
may have to add a little liquid for a creamier consistency.
Can I crush ice in the blender?
Yes, the blades are strong enough to crush ice. With the motor switched off, add
ice cubes to the blender, replace the lid and then press the ice-crushing button
repeatedly to process.
Can I blend soup in the blender?
No, always let liquids cool to room temperature before processing. Processing hot
liquids may result in steam creation and expulsion of hot liquid, which could cause
injury.

other liquid. Never wash it under running water. Only wipe the motor base
with a well wrung out, damp cloth.
• What NOT to use for cleaning: Do not use alkaline, harsh chemical or
alcohol based cleansers for cleaning any part of the appliance. Do not use

Cleaning the Jug and Blade Assembly
• After use, take the jug off the base and remove all food.
CAUTION: Take care to avoid injury, the blades are very sharp!
• For quick cleaning of the blending jug after use, pour a little warm,
soapy water into the jug and attach the lid. Turn the Rotary Speed Control
anticlockwise to the Pulse [ P ] setting and hold for a few seconds, then empty
the jug, rinse and let it air dry.
• For thorough cleaning of the blender, make sure the Rotary Speed Control is
set to the OFF [ 0 ] position and the motor base is unplugged from the power
supply. Grip the plug, do not pull the cord when unplugging.
• Dismantle all detachable parts: unscrew the blender jug base from the jug
assembly, take out the blade assembly, remove the cover for the pouring
hole and the lid.
• Rinse the cover, lid and the blender jug in warm, soapy water (or wash in
the dishwasher), then let all parts dry thoroughly.
• Brush the blade clean with warm, soapy water and rinse under the tap.
CAUTION: Do not touch the sharp blades, handle with care. Leave the
blade assembly to dry upside down, away from children
