by your operation. Prolonged exposure to high intensity noise may cause hearing loss.
WARNING - Keep bystanders a safe distance away from work area. Anyone entering the work area
must wear personal protective equipment. Fragments of workpiece or of a broken
accessory may fly away and cause injury beyond immediate area of operation.
DANGER - Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, when performing an operation
where the cutting accessory may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutting accessory
contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could
give the operator an electric shock.
DANGER - Position the cord clear of the spinning accessory. If you lose control, the cord may be
cut or snagged and your hand or arm may be pulled into the spinning accessory.
DANGER - Never lay the power tool down until the accessory has come to a complete stop. The
spinning accessory may grab the surface and pull the power tool out of your control.
DANGER - Do not run the power tool while carrying it at your side. Accidental contact with the
spinning accessory could snag your clothing, pulling the accessory into your body.
DANGER - Regularly clean the power tool’s air vents. The motor’s fan will draw the dust inside the
housing and excessive accumulation of powdered metal may cause electrical hazards.
DANGER - Do not operate the power tool near flammable materials. Sparks could ignite these
materials.
DANGER - Do not use accessories that require liquid coolants. Using water or other liquid coolants
may result in electrocution or shock.
Further safety instructions for all operations
Kickback and Related Warnings
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating wheel, backing pad, brush or any other accessory.
Pinching or snagging causes rapid stalling of the rotating accessory which in turn causes the uncontrolled power
tool to be forced in the direction opposite of the accessory’s rotation at the point of the binding.
For example, if an abrasive wheel is snagged or pinched by the workpiece, the edge of the wheel that is entering
into the pinch point can dig into the surface of the material causing the wheel to climb out or kick out. The wheel
may either jump toward or away from the operator, depending on direction of the wheel’s movement at the point
of pinching. Abrasive wheels may also break under these conditions.
Kickback is the result of power tool misuse and/or incorrect operating procedures or conditions and can be avoided
by taking proper precautions as given below.
WARNING - Maintain a firm grip on the power tool and position your body and arm to allow you to
resist kickback forces. Always use auxiliary handle, if provided, for maximum control over
kickback or torque reaction during start-up. The operator can control torque reactions or
kickback forces, if proper precautions are taken.

Safety instruction for all operations
Further safety instructions for all operations
DANGER - Never place your hand near the rotating accessory. Accessory may kickback over your
hand.
WARNING - Do not position your body in the area where power tool will move if kickback occurs.
Kickback will propel the tool in direction opposite to the wheel’s movement at the point of
snagging.
WARNING - Use special care when working corners, sharp edges etc. Avoid bouncing and snagging
the accessory. Corners, sharp edges or bouncing have a tendency to snag the rotating
accessory and cause loss of control or kickback.
WARNING - Do not attach a saw chain wood carving blade or toothed saw blade. Such blades create
frequent kickback and loss of control.

The machine works with a constant pressure regulated previously by the operator by adjusting the handwheel
pressure control.
If you exercise an additional and excessive pressure on the sander machine may be non-uniform and non-
optimal finishing surface.
13. To switch off the STORNELLO® pressing the starting/shutdown button on the main handle of the machine,
unlock the lock button, and then release it.
Machine adjustment procedures
Adjusting the sanding pressure and/or inclination of the plate
To change the pressure of the sanding disc on the working surface, adjust the handwheel located on the axis of the
rear wheel, so it adjusts the angle accuracy of sanding.
Proceed as follows:
1. Turning the handwheel
clockwise towards the position
"+" the inclination of the plate
or tool increases and therefore
the pressure of the disc on
working surface increases.
Consequently decreases the
contact area between the tool
and working surface.
2. Turning the handwheel
counter-clockwise towards the
position "-" the inclination of
the plate or tool decreases and
therefore the pressure of the
disc on
working surface
decreases.
Consequently increases the
contact area between the tool
and working surface.

Machine adjustment procedures
Tool speed adjustment
The machine is equipped with a speed controller, which
controls the speed of rotation of the abrasive tool or disc
used.
The sanding speed may be adjusted according to the
different conditions of the working surface, the material of
the working surface and the sanding quality requirements
(finishing).
The rpm speed is adjusted by turning the variable speed
drive. The control has a total of 7 speed: from "MIN" to
"MAX" with intermediate speeds numbered from "1" to "5".
MIN is the lowest speed (about 1500 RPM) and MAX is the
highest speed (about 3200 RPM).
Use the highest speed settings for fast removal. Use the
lowest speed setting for low material removal.
Setting plate or other sanding tool
Always remember that the machine, especially in the initial phase of adjustment and setting, must support to the
surface with three spherical wheels and not with the assembled tool to avoid the effect roll, i.e. to avoid that the machine
does not work perfectly flat and that working is not homogeneous on the working area.
Included in delivery:
•N° 1 white nylon washer thickness 2.5 mm (for
all versions Wood, Metal and Glass).
•N° 4 shim rings 0.5mm (for Wood and Metal
version).
The use of this washer and of these rings must be used
for the adjustment in height of the plate or tool used, and
for compensation of abrasive
consumption (abrasives,
non-woven, tynex brushes or metal, con
sumption or
aging of the plates), then they must be used, in fact, to
compensate the crushing of the mousse of the plate after
a certain number of hours of use. The normal
consumption of the plate is evident especially in the
peripheral part of the same,
the mousse can no longer
crush the abrasive disc on the working surface.
Set
the shim rings between the sanding disc and the
white nylon washer.
Procedures for disassembly and replacement of the plate
Remove the sanding disc by Velcro or PSA support of the
plate, insert the allen key 5 with handle in the center hole i
of the plate and turn it clockwise while holding the plate
with the other hand.
WARNING: The abrasive disc is in the correct position
when it sticks out about 1 mm around the entire
circumference of the plate.
HAZARD: Using a damaged abrasive disc may, tearing
during polishing, cause damage to the plate and to the
surface.

Cleaning spherical wheel (for the user)
Keep constantly clean the three spherical wheels in the
crankcase.
The cleaning methods are mainly two:
1. For a surface cleaning is sufficient blowing with
compressed air in the three slits are visible from
the inside of the crankcase (pic.1).
2. For a deeper cleaning, remove the locking ring
with a small screwdriver (pic.2a/2b/2c), clean
the balls with hot water or a mild cleaning, blow
the exposed bearings with compressed air and
replace each ball with your trim ring. (The
operation is executable on all wheels). Careful
not to lose the internal components of the
wheel).
