Congratulations. You have just acquired one of the most advanced
timepieces from a partnership between La Manufacture L’Épée and
Reuge.
Duet has been developed with passion and care by our Master watchma-
kers in Delémont and music box makers in Ste Croix, both in Switzerland.
The clock has been coated with a high quality palladium. The mineral
glass all around the clock gives you a perfect view on all the mechanisms.

BE CAREFUL
Please, be very careful to never touch the movement of “Duet” either on
the front, the back or the sides of the movement, except when winding
up the clock with the appropriate L’Epée key.
Furthermore, the movement should never be in contact with any liquids
– even in vaporized form. If this occurs, the clock should be serviced
immediately.
A simple contact on certain pieces can generate delays in timekeeping,
which can only be solved by servicing. Fingerprints will also damage the
coating.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
NEVER FORCE ON THE WIND UP - IF IT IS BLOCKED, THEN IT IS FULLY WOUND UP.
MAKE SURE THAT THE MUSIC BOX MECHANISM IS NOT ON OFF WHEN SETTING
THE TIME : RISKS OF DAMAGE OTHERWISE.
NEVER FORCE ON THE ROTATION BUTTON TO SET THE SOUND CONTROL.
NEVER GO FROM ON TO OFF WITHOUT PASSING BY AUTO.
Use only a soft and dry cloth to clean the outside parts of the clock. Dust
and particles contained in the cloth could scratch parts. Do not use any
kind of cleaning products to wipe the clock.
It is recommended to keep the clock distant from any source of heat or
vibrations. Do not permanently expose the clock to direct sun light, in hu-
mid or dusty place.
Our clocks are developed to ensure optimal accuracy and reliability. It is
well accepted for a fine mechanical clock to have a few seconds variation
per day and our clocks are set so as not to delay. However if you should
notice a wider variation, please contact an authorized dealer who will advise
you, or L’Épée 1989 technical support center which will proceed with the
necessary adjustment.
As for all horological pieces of art, it is recommended to periodically service
your clock.
A mechanical masterpiece requires fine oils for the lubrication of the mo-
vement. They are deteriorating with the time. We therefore advise to have
the movement serviced every five years. Never try to clean the movement
or the hands.
MINERAL GLASS DOME
The movement of Duet needs to
be protected from dust, humi-
dity and human intrusions, which
could cause damages and delays.
Le Duet comes with its own trans-
parent dome, fixed over the mo-
vement. You cannot take off the
glass. Clean the glass only with a
soft and dry cloth. Fingerprints will
also damage the coating.
PROTECTION OF THE CLOCK

Put the clock on a flat surface, turn the back of it and wind up the movement (see (A)
on the picture below of back of the clock) anti-clockwise with the larger diameter end
of the key. The movement with its five barrels has to be fully wound every month. Be
sure to wind up the spring completely, but without forcing it. During the process, you
can see wheels moving to allow all the five barrels to be wound up as they are coupled.
At the end of the winding up procedure, you will be able to feel the force increasing
appreciably. Do not force as it is the sign that it is fully wound.
The music box has only one barrel. The winding up procedure is the same (see (B) on
the picture below of back of the clock). At the end of the winding up procedure, you

Fully wound, the hands device on the clock and on the music box dis-
plays show “1”.
When the hands indicate “0”, the clock and the music box needs to be
wound up.

“AUTO”: The music box sounds every hour.
“ON”: The music box sounds continually.
“OFF”: The music box does not sound.
There are three positions marked by a notch.
You cannot move from OFF to ON without passing by AUTO
NEVER FORCE ON THE ROTATION
SETTING THE TIME
Use the smaller diameter of the key and turn the hand-setter
anti-clockwise (see (C) on the picture below of the back of the clock) to
set the time.
Be aware:
Do not turn too quickly, especially during the passage of an hour.
Be sure that the mechanical music box is not on “OFF”,
risking to damage the mechanism.
