BIKE TRAILER

Safety Instructions
IMPORTANT Read and follow these instructions and safety
rules before operating the Confidence Baby Jogger.
•
WARNING:
Failure to follow these warnings and assembly instructions could
result in serious injury or death.
•
Immediately discard all plastic bags and plastic wrapping materials.
•
Maximum weight capacity for one child is 20kgs, and for two children 40kgs.
•
Never use the Bike Trailer if it becomes damaged.
•
To avoid serious injury, children should always wear the seat belt and the shoulder
straps.
•
Never leave children unattended in or around Bike Trailer.
•
Never allow children to assemble, fold or disassemble the Bike Trailer
Accessories or parcels placed in Bike Trailer may cause it to become unstable.
•
Not for use with children under 18 months old.
•
Children must be able to support their own heads.
•
Before riding, check that all parts are correctly assembled according to the
manufacturer’s instructions.
•
Tyres should be inflated to 25-30 PSI, check tyre pressure before each use.
•
Use a foot pump or hand pump to inflate the tyres, pressurized air hoses can
cause over inflation.
•
Periodically re-check all fasteners to make sure they are tight and secure.
•
The Bike Trailer should be cleaned using soap and water, never use solvents.
SAFE TOWING TIPS
•
Warning:
Make sure the bike brakes work properly; the
braking distance is
increased when pulling a trailer.
•
This Bike Trailer is wide, so allow extra clearance near curbs, signs, parked cars,
and other obstacles.
•
A bicycle with the Bike Trailer attached requires a wide turning circle, do not turn
sharply.
•
Children must always wear an approved safety helmet.
•
Never remove protective canopy when pulling children in the Bike Trailer.
•
Always use the safety flag when pulling the Bike Trailer.
•
When pulling one child in the
Bike Trailer
they should always be sat in the centre.
•
Do not ride over curbs, bumps, holes and always signal your turns.
•
Use extra caution when turning on uneven pavement and going downhill.
•
Not for use at high speeds, do not exceed 12km/h..
•
Do not pull the
Bike Trailer
at night.
•
Install a rearview mirror on your bike to check on the
Bike Trailer
.

Assembly Instructions
1. Remove the Bike Trailer from the carton and check the contents against the
parts list.
2. Unfold the Bike Trailer frame and remove all the components from the inside
(Fig 2).
3. Lift both side panels into an upright position (Fig 3). Remove the screws from the
crossbar by turning it in a counter-clockwise direction and slide the back of the
seat over the crossbar.
4. Align the conical plastic washer on the end of the crossbar with the holes on the
sidebars of the upper frame. Once aligned, insert the screws throughthe holes in
the frame into the crossbar; turn the screw in a clockwise direction to secure the
crossbar to the frame with the threaded knob as shown below (Fig 4-5).

Step 2 – Release the tow bar
1. Open the loop of the quick release pin and remove the pin.
2. Re-install the pin in the front holes of the U – channel and close the snap pin so
the loop of the pin lock is over the pin shaft (Fig 8). Repeat for both pin locks.

Step 3A – Install the wheels and wheel guard(normal model).
1. Lift the Bike Trailer so the right hand side is up and insert the rear axle (Fig 9).
2. Slide the spacer on and then put the rear wheel on (Fig 10).

3. Repeat for the left hand side.
4. Now, whilst holding one side with a wrench, tighten the opposite side and then
repeat process for other side. (Fig 11)
5. Install the wheel guards by depressing the spring pin and insert the tube in the
frame until the spring locks back into place.
Step 3B – Install the wheels and wheel guard(quick release model).
1.Assemble the wave gasket to the rear axle.
2.The rear axle goes through rear wheel , place spacer outside of the rear wheel
and then assemble to the quick release system
Note:Wheels Must be installed securely,if not they many fall off
Step 4 – Attach the Four Season Cover
1. Position the Four Season cover over the Bike Trailer where the roll up window is
facing towards the front side of the trailer.
2. Warp the Velcro back fixing straps and secure the cover aroundthe frame.
3. Secure the Velcro material at the bottom of the front cover to the matching Velcro
material on the lower front fabric panel.
4. Connect the siderelease buckles affixed to the rear corners of the cover to the
matching buckles ontherear side of the Bike Trailer cabin.

Note:
The Four Season cover is designedto keep passengers and cargo dry and
warm in inclement weather. It also protects children from flying debris . The Four
Season cover can be rolled up to allow for added ventilation in hot weather. Velcro
closures keep the Four Season Cover in place when rolled up.
Warning:
Never use the Bike Trailer without the Four Seasoncover. The front
window must be attached to protect children from flying objects.
Step 5 – Installation of the Safety Flag
1. The flag is located on the left hand side of the Bike Trailer cabin, be sure to insert
the flag into the below shown pocket.
2. Remove the flag before attemptingto fold.

Step 6 – Front Wheel and HandlebarAssembly
1.
Fit wheel onto forks, with outer axle sitting flush with fork inset. Ensure one side of
fork lock clamp and washers are on inner axle rod
(Fig 15).

Warning : failure to properly install and tighten the U front fork could allow the
wheel to fall off during use and cause serious injury.

Insert inner axle shaft. Shaft will slide through the outer axle shaft from one side to the
other and extend past fork.
It fork lock clamp and washers and then attach inner axle rod nut.

Warning: You cannottightenthequick releaselever bymerely twisting it. You canonly
ensure it is locked by properly tightening the finger nut and then flipping the quick
release lever from open to closed (Fig 16 & 17).

Tighten inner axle shaft clamp and then lock down to ensure tight fit.

Step 7 – Attaching the trailer to the bike.
1. Loosen the left side of the rear axles to allow the hitch to attach to the bike frame
(Fig 20).
2. Position the hitch over the left rear axle of the bike (Fig 21).

3. Tighten the axle nut securely, testing to see if the hitch can be pulled loose (Fig
21) and thenrepeat safety test.
4. Loop safety strap around the frame and secure to the D ring on the hitch arm (Fig
22).
Warning: The safety strap must be attached to the bike frame when using the
Bike Trailer in trailer mode.
Step 8 – Using the 5 point Safety Harness.
Warning:
to avoid serious injury children should always wear the seat belt, shoulder
straps and a helmet.

Seat for one child
1. Undo the lap buckle and seat the child in the centre of the the Bike Trailer.
Buckle the left belt over the childs lap and pull the strap until the belt is snug.
Place the two centre shoulder straps over the childs shoulders and clip both
straps into the D ring of the centre of the crotch strap. Adjust the shoulder strap
height according to the height of the child and then pull the straps until they are
snug.
Seating for for two children
1. Undo the lap belt buckle and seat the children side by side in theBike Trailer.
Buckle the lap belt overboth children’s laps and pull the strap until the belt is snug
(there is only one lap belt for both children). Place one outer pair of shoulder
straps over the shoulders of the child seated on that side. Now clip both straps
into the D ring of the outer crotch strap directly below. Adjust the shoulder strap
height accordingto the height of the child. Then pull the straps until they are snug.
Note:
the centre crotch strap will not be clipped to anyshoulder straps
Important:
adjust the straps so that the crotch strap and shoulder straps meet at the
children’s stomach level.
NOTAT CHEST LEVEL.

Folding and Storage
1. Unclip the tow bar safety strap from the D ring and remove the pin and hitch
from the
bike frame.
2. Clip the end of the strap back onto the tow bar D ring.
3. Remove the flag and pole and separate into 3 sections.
4. Remove the screw cap from the rear axles of the rear wheels.
5. Remove the quick release pin from thetow bar bracket at the front corner
of the Bike Trailer.
6. Fold the tow bar back under the Bike Trailer and replace the quick release
pin through the tow bar and U channel.
7. Place wheels and flag pole inside the passenger compartment and close the
front cover.
8. Remove the Four Season Cover.
9. Loosenthe crossbar knob and remove.
10. Fold the crossbar down to allow the window tubes to fold in .
11. Fold the cabin as shown below.

BeforeEveryUse
1. Make sure all parts are in goood working order and none are missing.
2. Do not use the Bike Trailer if any parts are worn ormissing.
3. Check all fastners aresecurely tightened.
4. Check all tyres to ensure they are properly inflated.
