The 5big Backup Server is a professional backup solution for PC
and Mac with the capability of backing up both data and system
files automatically or manually. It features backup deduplication,
centralized backup management, and workstation agent-free
configuration. The 5big Backup Server will even back up files that
are currently open. For Mac workstations, a professional-grade
Time Machine®feature creates a dedicated directory for every
backed up workstation, making file restoration from the client
straightforward. Deduplication means that only one copy of a
given file is saved to the 5big Backup Server for ultimate backup
efficiency and storage usage. And for maximum data protection,
you can even back up the 5big Backup Server’s data onto an
external hard drive via the USB or eSATA expansion port – truly
enterprise-level capabilities within a desktop solution.

The 5big Backup Server offers file-level and bare metal restore
capabilities. Whether users experience accidental file loss or
require an entire system to be restored, the 5big Backup Server
ensures all data can be recovered. If a workstation experiences
a hard drive failure, a bare metal restore can completely rebuild
its data – through the network – from system components to user
files, with a minimum downtime.

Despite its high performance, the 5big Backup Server offers
eco-friendly features. Its casing is made from fully recyclable
aluminum, and while multi-disk systems can consume a lot
of power, the 5big Backup Server power supply is rated at an
amazinglevelV.ThroughtheMicrosoftWHSinterface,youcan
choose low power usage profiles in order to strike a balance
between data availability and power use. Additionally, the LaCie
5big Backup Server houses an ultra-quiet Noctua fan, allowing
you to place the product wherever you choose – including on
a desktop.

Setting up the 5big Backup Server is as easy as connecting it
to your LAN and configuring backup. With minimal setup, you
can initiate automatic backups of all the PCs and Macs on your
network, thereby centralizing backed up data and taking human
error out of the equation. Server management is easy thanks to
a user-friendly interface, through which you can set up public
or private shares, access the 5big Backup Server remotely, and
even monitor the basic health of the network.
