Utilisation
Intended use
The Smoker is a gas grill apparatus for outdoor use.
Intended use means only using the barbecue to pre-
pare barbecue food, while observing and complying
with all of the instructions in this manual.
This barbecue is only intended for private use.
Unintended Use
Any other use or application extending beyond the
intended purpose is not permitted. This applies in
particular to the following methods of improper use:
• SmokerDo not operate the cooker with charcoal
or any fuel other than liquid gas (propane/buta-
ne).
• Do not use the cooker as a heater.
• Smoker not to be used to heat materials and sub-
stances other than food that is suitable for barbe-
cuing.
Guarantee claims and warranty
Your LANDMANN-Smoker left the factory in perfect
technical condition.
Any warranty and guarantee claims shall become
void in the event of improper use of the barbecue
or the use of non-approved fuels. Discolouration,
rusting or slight deformation of parts exposed direct-
ly to the ames (cooking grill, burners, burner cover,
spark plug, etc.) do not impair the function of the
barbecue and, as such, do not form a basis for any
claims.
Please retain your receipt in case you need to make a
warranty claim.
Function
When the cylinder valve (G5) and flame regulator (B)
are open the flows through the gas hose (G3)and
the flame regulator into the burner.
When the pulse igniter (A) is actuated a spark is emi-
ted by the spark plugs on the burners (burner unit)
that then ignites the gas.
The gas supply (=heat output) can be regulated and
interrupted by using the flame regulators (B)

Vinson VS32
Residual risks
Danger: Hot surfaces and parts
During operation some parts of the barbecue can
get very hot, particularly those near the burner.
Possible consequences:
• Severe burns from touching parts near the
burners.
• Fire or smouldering if ammable materials or
substances are in close proximity to the cooker.
Safety measures prior to grilling:
• When setting it up, make sure that
–there are not, and will not be, any amma-
ble materials or substances nearby. Mini-
mum distance to ammable materials or
substances: 2 m above and 1 m to the side.
Distance to less ammable materials or sub-
stances, e.g. walls: min. 0.25 m.
–that the Smoker is positioned rmly on a
at, sufciently large surface area. It must
not be moved during operation.
Safety measures while barbecuing:
• Wear protective barbecue gloves.
• Smoker never leave unattended. Take particu-
lar care to ensure that children and pets are
kept away from the Smoker.
General safety instructions
Failure to observe the following basic safety measures
can cause severe injury to persons and substantial
damage to property:
• The Smoker is only to be used as intended.
• Smokernever use if damage is visible
• never make technical modications. Only Use only
original spare parts by LANDMANN.
• Use only accessories that are expressly authorised
for this barbecue (see the "Accessories" chapter;
if in doubt please contact our customer service
department).
• Smoker Only use outdoors in a well ventilated
area and above ground level (i.e. not in areas that
are below the ground).
• Never leave the Smoker unattended when in use.
Take particular care to ensure that children and
persons with physical or mental disabilities keep
well away from the barbecue, since they may not
be able to identify the dangers correctly.
• Always wear grilling gloves when using the bar-
becue.
• Small parts may be lethal if swallowed. Note that
there is a danger of suffocation if the respiratory
tract is covered by packing foil.

7
Vinson VS32
Danger: Gas is highly flammable
Liquid gas is highly ammable and explosive.
Possible consequences:
• Serious injury to persons or damage to proper-
ty if escaping or accumulated gas ignites in an
uncontrolled manner.
Safety measures:
• Only use the cooker outdoors and make sure
the area is well ventilated.
• Protect the gas cylinder and the gas hose from
direct sunlight and other sources of heat (max.
50°C). Take particular care to ensure that the
gas hose does not touch any part of the hot
barbecue.
• Close the valve on the gas cylinder immediate-
ly when you nish using the Smoker.
• When connecting the gas cylinder make sure
that there are no sources of ignition within a
5 m radius.
Take special care not to light any naked ames,
do not smoke or switch on electric appliances
(devices, lights, door bells), etc. (spark-over
possible).
• Before each use, make sure that all gas con-
nections are sealed and intact.
If necessary, ensure that you replace the gas
hose if required to do so to comply local legis-
lation.
The barbecue must not be used if the connec-
tions for the gas supply are porous or faulty.
This also applies, for example, to hoses or t-
tings that are blocked with insects, as this can
result in a dangerous ashback.
• When igniting the gas ame do not bend over
the barbecue, as deagration can occur if gas
has accumulated in the re bowl.
For the same reason, never re-ignite immedia-
tely if the ame goes out, instead:
–Turn the ame regulator (B) to "Off" to
interrupt the gas supply.
–Wait for 3 minutes to ensure that any accu-
mulated gas has dissipated.
–Then re-ignite the burners (see the chapter
"Operations").
Danger: Gas displaces oxygen
Liquid gas is heavier than oxygen. Therefore it
settles on the ground and displaces the oxygen
at that level.
Possible consequences:
• Suffocation resulting from a lack of oxygen if
the concentration of gas is allowed to rise suf-
ciently.
Safety measures:
• Only use the Smoker outdoors in a well venti-
lated area and above ground (i.e. not in areas
that are below ground level).
• Close the valve on the gas cylinder immediate-
ly when you nish using the Smoker.
• If the barbecue is not being used for a pro-
longed period, cut off the supply from the gas
cylinder and store properly:
–Fit the gas cylinder valve with a cap nut and
safety cap.
–Do not store the gas cylinder in rooms
below ground level, in or near stairways,
hallways or passages and thoroughfares
between buildings.
–Always store gas cylinders upright, even if
they are empty!

Assembly
Here are a few tips to help you assemble your barbe-
cue quickly and successfully:
• Check that no parts are missing by placing all of
the individual parts on an empty table (subject to
minor technical changes).
• If, despite careful factory checks, a component
should be missing, please contact our customer
service department (see last page). We will imme-
diately attend to your request.
• To assemble the barbecue you only need a medi-
um-size screwdriver as well as 10 mm open ended
spanners.
• Only use tools that are intact and suitable for the
job at hand. Worn or unsuitable tools will not
allow you to tighten the bolts sufciently, but will
damage them to the extent that they can no lon-
ger be turned.
• Always t all connecting elements (screws, nuts,
bolts, et cetera) as shown in the illustrations. If you
misplace a connecting element, replace it with an
appropriate part. Only by doing this can you ensu-
re that the construction is strong and safe.
• Be sure to follow the instructions in the specied
order!
• Even if you are not experienced at DIY, assembly
does not generally take longer than one hour.
•
The illustrations showing the assembly steps are
at the end of this manual.

Parts and tools needed
• Gas cylinder
Common camping gas cylinder, fill weight 4.5 or
7 kg, (e.g. grey camping propane gas cylinder).
These are available at DIY shops or from liquid gas
suppliers.
Leak indicator
• You can locate any leaks in the gas system using a
leak detector. This can be purchased at DIY shops
or liquid gas suppliers. Please follow the operating
instructions of the leak detector.
The following parts are included in delivery. They
comply with the standards applicable in the country
to which they have been supplied by LANDMANN.

-approved hose of a sufficient length (max. 1.5 m)
to allow for kink-free assembly.
• Pressure regulator (already attached to the gas
hose)
Preset and -approved pressure regulator, max.
1.5 kg/h, operating pressure 28-30/37 mbar, suita-
ble for the gas cylinder used.
It is recommended that you only use propane gas
with your LANDMANN barbecue which is fitted with
a propane gas regulator!

9
Vinson VS32
Disconnecting the gas cylinder
1. Close the cylinder valve.
2. Store the pressure regulator with the gas hose
under the barbecue. Make sure the gas hose is not
kinked or twisted in any way.
3. Store the gas cylinder correctly:
–Fit the gas cylinder valve with a cap nut and
safety cap.
Do not store the gas cylinder in rooms below
ground level, in or near stairways, hallways or
passages and thoroughfares between buildings.
Always store gas cylinders upright, even if they
are empty!
Before starting
• Select a suitable, preferably wind-sheltered area to
set up the barbecue. Make sure that ...
–there are not, and will not be, any flammable
materials or substances nearby. The minimum
distance to flammable materials or substances
must be 2 m overhead and 1 m to the side of
the barbecue; the distance to flame-resistant
materials or substances must be at least 0.25 m.
–the barbecue is positioned firmly on a suffici-
ently large area. It must not be moved during
operation.
–Position the gas cylinder on the base of the trol-
ley below the barbecue.
–Never lay the gas cylinder on its side.
–Do not kink the gas hose or apply a tension to it.
• Make sure that the seal in the pressure regulator is
present and intact. Do not use any additional seals.
• When connecting the gas cylinder ensure that the-
re are no sources of ignition within a 5 m radius.
Important note: to avoid the risk of spark-over, do
not to light naked flames, do not smoke and do
not actuate the switches of electric devices (appli-
ances, lights, door bells, etc.).
Connecting the gas cylinder
1. Connect the coupling nut of the pressure regulator
to the cylinder valve thread and tighten the cou-
pling nut by turning it anti-clockwise by hand.
2. Do not use any tools for this, as the cylinder valve
seal could be damaged in the process, resulting in
leaks.
3. Make sure that the pressure regulator and the gas
hose are securely connected.
4. Check to make sure the connection between the
gas hose and adjusting element, as well as the con-
nections between the gas hose are secure.
Make sure that the hose is not kinked or twisted in
any way and that it is not under tension.
5. Open the cylinder valve and use a standard leak
detector to make sure that all of the connections
are tight.
–Please observe the instructions for the leak indi-
cator! Never check for leaks using a naked fla-
me. Listening for leaks is not a reliable method
of detection.
–If a leak is detected, close the cylinder valve
immediately and tighten the loose connection
or replace the leaking part. Repeat the leak test.
–If you do not wish to barbecue immediately,
close the cylinder valve.

Igniting the burners
Danger: Gas deflagration on ignition
If unburned gas accumulates, deagration can
occur when igniting.
Possible consequences:
• This can cause severe injury and damage.
Safety measures:
• Do not lean over the re area when igniting
the gas ame.
• Never re-ignite immediately if the ame goes
out, instead:
–Turn the ame regulator (B) to "Off" to
interrupt the gas supply.
–Wait for 3 minutes to ensure that any accu-
mulated gas has dissipated.
–Then re-ignite the burners.
1. Open the Smoker door.
Maintain the greatest possible distance from the
grill unit during the next few steps.
2. Press and turn the respective ame regulator (B)
anti-clockwise to HIGH ("large ame"). Hold it in
this position.
3. Press the pulse igniter (A) until the gas ignites in
the burner.
A low cracking sound indicates that the pulse igni-
ter is igniting.
4. Close the door and allow the Smoker to heat up
to full power.
The rst time you use the Smoker, heat for some
20 minutes without food so that the food-safe
coating is hardened (as with any oven).
5. When the Smoker is heated up, turn the ame
regulator (B) to the selected setting (ame size).
6. You can now place your food on the grill. Be sure
to wear grilling gloves or other heatproof gloves.
To switch off the burners (to extinguish the flame)
press and turn the flame regulators (B) clockwise to
"OFF".
The gas supply is only disconnected if all the flame
regulators have been set to OFF.
Igniting the burners

Smoker Startup
1. Check to ensure that ....
–there are not, and will not be, any amma-
ble materials or substances nearby. Minimum
distance to ammable materials or substances:
2 m above and 1 m to the side; distance to less
ammable materials or substances: min 0.25 m.
–the barbecue is positioned rmly on a sufci-
ently large surface area. It must not be moved
during operation.
–the barbecue is fully assembled and has no
apparent faults.
2. Open the door of the grill unit; this prevents gas
building up underneath it.
3. Open the cylinder valve.
4. Check to ensure that the gas system is sealed. If
not, close the cylinder valve immediately.
5. Install the water trough (26) and smoking trough
(24).

11

Smoker Shutdown
1. Close the cylinder valve on the gas cylinder (turn
G5 clockwise).
2. Press and turn all ame regulators (B) clockwise
to "OFF".
3. Wait until all of the parts have cooled down and
then clean any soiled components (see chapter
"Cleaning").
4. Close the door.
5. If the barbecue is not going to be used for a pro-
longed period:
–Disconnect the gas cylinder (see chapter "Dis-
connecting the gas cylinder").
–Store the barbecue in a dry place.
Maintenance
The Smoker is maintenance free. Nevertheless, you
should check it at regular intervals. The intervals
depend on how often it is used and the environmen-
tal conditions to which it is exposed.
Smoker
• Inspect the burners for any dirt and blockages.
Make sure that both of the side air inlets are clear
on each burner hose. If necessary clean the ope-
nings, for example, with a pipe cleaner.
• A contaminated burner can impair the perfor-
mance of the barbecue and lead to the gas igni-
ting dangerously outside the burner.
• Check to ensure that all parts of the Smoker are
present and assembled (visual check).
• Check to ensure that all connections are present
and securely fastened. Tighten if necessary.
Gas system
The gas system needs to be checked every time a gas
cylinder is connected (see chapter "Connecting and
disconnecting the gas cylinder“).
If necessary, ensure that you replace the hose to com-
ply with the national requirements.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
• Fill the wood chip box with avoring wood chips
and place the box with lid on, inside the smoker as
instructed in the assembly section of this instruction
manual.
• Place the water pan inside the smoker as instructed
in the assembly section of this instruction manual.
Carefully ll the water pan with water (or marina-
de) up to 13mm below the water pan rim. DO NOT
over ll or allow water to overow from the water
pan. A full water pan should last for approximately
2-3 hours.
• Insert or adjust the cooking grates and cooking
grate supports to the desired positions. For better
access to the food with tongs or spatulas, use only
the cooking grates needed for your smoking and be
sure the grids of the cooking grates run front-to-back
as shown in the assembly section.
• You are now ready to light the burner! Refer to
the Lighting procedure on the previous pages of this
manual and carefully follow the directions. The heat
from the burner will allow the wood chips to burn,
causing the avoring smoke to accumulate. Use the
control valve along with adjusting the vent to control
the heat.
• Place the food on the cooking grates in a single
layer with space between each piece. This will allow
smoke and hot moisture to circulate evenly around
the food pieces.
• Depending on meat and size, smoking for 2 to 3
hours at the ideal constant cooking temperature of
107℃ to 121℃ will get the best results. The tempera-
ture is according to the heat indication (temperature
gauge) mounted on the front of the door. For more
tender and heavily smoked meat, a lower tempera-
ture of 104-107℃ and smoking for 4 to 6 hours, may
be preferred. If time is critical, a higher temperature
range is recommended.
• Always use a meat probe thermometer to ensure
the food is fully cooked before removing it from the
smoker.
• Check the water periodically and add water if low.
For best results and to retain heat, avoid opening the
door of the smoker while in use. When the door must
be opened, only open it briey. The smoker will quic-
kly resume cooking temperature after the doors are
closed.
• After each use, and after the smoker has cooled,
carefully remove the water pan from the smoker,
empty the water and clean the water pan. Follow the
same procedure for the wood chip box.
