LaVie purification system user manual
3/15 V.1.0 08/28/19
Congratulations, you’ve just purchased a LaVie purification system and we are thankful for it.
We care about the design, ergonomics and ease of use of our products. We hope this water
purifier will give you complete satisfaction.
1. GENERAL OVERVIEW
turns water from your tap in high
quality water, without filter or
additives
LaVie is a Nature-inspired water purifier.
It consists of an aluminum case that
treats the water contained in a bottle in
fifteen minutes through the emission of
UVA by a strip of LED.
Our patented oxidation process:
•removes chlorine and its byproducts
•eliminates tastes and odors
•eliminates pathogens
•reduces pesticides concentration (glyphosate)
•respects water pH
•preserves trace elements
Overall, the LaVie process eliminate harmful compounds and preserves elements supporting
your well-being.
No filter nor additives are needed, LEDs’ lifespan exceeds 10 years.
Electrical consumption: 15Wh/L (1€ to purify 500 L of water)
LaVie ADDRESSES THREE ISSUES:
•To regain pure, quality water, healthy and tasteful
•To make life easier: No need to carry heavy water bottle packs anymore. LaVie turns
your tap into an endless pure water spring, of same quality as the ones in bottle packs.
•To tackle marine plastic pollution which is one of the most critical issues of our society,
by creating a virtuous substitute.

2. WORKING PRINCIPLE
LaVie uses chlorine contained in tap water as a Trojan horse. LEDs emit UVA rays on a
transparent, sealed glass bottle and a photolysis reaction is initiated. All the chlorine molecules
(OCl-) react and give rise to strong oxidizing radicals, a hundred times more oxidative than
chlorine itself.
These dissociated compounds are capable of mineralizing complex chemicals and eliminating
tastes and odors.
To operate, LaVie thus requires:
1. UVA radiation
2. Chlorine in the water to be treated
3. Sealed container
Note: In Europe and North America, tap water is largely sanitized with chlorine. This chlorine
contained in water is essential for the proper operation of LaVie. Do not treat non
drinkable/chlorine free water.

5. INSTRUCTIONS
a. Before first use
Remove the packaging and rinse LaVie bottle with clear water to eliminate potential
manufacturing residual.
b. Instructions for use
1. Set LaVie case on a stable surface next to an electrical outlet.
2. Connect the DC adapter to LaVie case with the jack socket located under the case. Unwind
the power cord and plug into the electrical outlet. The base of the unit emits a green light
that flashes three times to indicate compatibility with the DC adapter (Figure 1). In case of
prolongated red flashes, please refer to SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS section.
Figure 1: Before switching on (left) –Green flashes during switching on (middle) –When flashes stop, LaVie is ready for use
(right)
3. Unscrew the LaVie bottle cap (turn anticlockwise). Fill LaVie bottle with tap water then screw
the cap (turn clockwise).Make sure the LaVie bottle is hermetically sealed and that no liquid
can escape.
4. Place LaVie bottle in the case. An integrated sensor automatically detects the bottle and
LEDs turn on, emitting a blue light all along the case (Figure 2). The purification cycle starts.
Note: removing the bottle from the case during the purification cycle stops the treatment.

Figure 2: LaVie unit during operation. The blue lights indicate that LEDs emit UVA radiation and thus treat the
water contained in LaVie bottle. The green light at the bottom of the case signals a 15 minutes processing time.
5. When the LEDs emit blue continuous light, processing is in progress. The duration of
treatment is 15 minutes by default, marked by a GREEN color at the base of the case that
persists throughout the treatment (Figure 2). LEDs and the base of the case turn off when
treatment is over. At the end of the treatment, the LEDs and the base of the case turn off.
The bottle containing now purified water can be removed from the case for immediate
consumption or placed in the refrigerator. Recommendation: Once opened, the water in the
bottle must be consumed within 48 hours.
c. Processing time configuration
Processing time is set to 15 minutes by default and can be increased in case of unsatisfying
taste or odor at the end of the purification cycle. Three modes are available and are marked
with a different color during the operation of the device:
•GREEN: Standard mode 15 minutes processing time
•BLUE: Intermediate mode - 22 minutes processing time
•RED: Intensive mode- 30 minutes processing time
Please proceed as follows to change mode:
1. Remove LaVie bottle from the case and plug it into the electrical outlet through the DC
adapter.
2. Flip the unit and identify the blue trigger button.

LaVie purification system user manual
8/15 V.1.0 08/28/19
Figure 3: Bottom view of LaVie case. The arrow points to the trigger button.
3. Push the trigger button. The unit emits a BLUE light, indicating the transition from
standard to intermediate mode.
4. Push the trigger button again to turn the emitted color to RED, indicating the transition
to intensive mode. An additional push resets the unit to the standard mode, following
the order established below:
…→GREEN →BLUE →RED →GREEN →BLUE →…
The settings are then saved and the case will emit the color corresponding to the last mode
selected during subsequent use of the device.
Note: it is not possible to change the operating mode during treatment.

d. Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning
•Before any cleaning operation, unplug the DC adapter.
•Never plunge LaVie case, the DC adapter or the cord into water or any other liquid.
•Clean the outside parts of the LaVie case and bottle using a slightly damp sponge.
Do not useabrasive cleansers and never usescrubbing pad or similar scrubbing product which
could damage your LaVie water purifier.
Consumables and spare parts
This unit was designed to operate without using any consumable. Maintenance only consists
in cleaning the bottle. In this regard, the bottle as well as the water contained inside of it are
sterilized during each purification cycle (germicidal effect of UV radiation)
Important points:
•Please periodically check that the LEDs turn on while purification cycle is processing.
•Please visually check (at least once a year) wires and connectors.
Some components will undergo normal wearing out process due to repeated uses of the unit.
Those components must be regularly replaced by a trained, authorized person. Wearing parts
are excluded from warranty terms, except in exceptional circumstances.

d. Specific information about ultraviolet rays
Risks related to the use of LEDs
Persons suffering from macular degeneration related to age, phakic or aphakic persons and
photosensitizers consumers (medicines, cosmetic…) can be sensitive to the blue light LEDs
emit. Studies are ongoing to evaluate those cases. A precautionary principle should be
adopted.
NF EN 62471standard defines four groups of hazardousnessfor each radiation source related
to the maximum permissible user exposure to light:
•GR0 –risk group 0: no risk regardless time of exposure
•GR1 - risk group 1 (low risk): max. exposure time of 10 000 s (3 h)
•GR2 - risk group 2 (moderate risk): max. exposure time of 100 s
•GR3 - risk group 3 (serious risk): max. exposure time of 0.25 s
LaVie water purifier is categorized as GR 1.
LaVie presents no risk to human health under normal conditions of use.
Do not look directly at the light from LEDs for a prolonged time (max. 10 minutes).
e. LaVie restrictions on use
LaVie technology does not use any filter. Thus, there is no mechanical filtration of physical
particles contained in water. LaVie is not intended to treat water containing sludge, sand, fecal
matter, etc. Moreover, LaVie produces no effect on radioactivity and radioelements.
LaVie is intended to improve the quality of initially drinkable tap water.
