maintenance, and adjustment
procedures for your product. By
following the operating and maintenance
instructions you will prolong the life of
your equipment. Failure to do so could
result in personal injury or equipment

operating the product properly and safely
as well as training

Thank you for purchasing your Lawn
Solutions Compact Stump Grinder. It
has been designed for years of use for
both commercial and rental applications.
Take the time to carefully read and
understand this manual which provides
complete operating and maintenance
instructions that will help maintain you
unit.
Whenever you need service, parts, or
additional information, contact an
Authorized Servicing Dealer or Lawn
Solutions Customer Service and have the
model number for your product available.

TRAINING & SAFETY
1. Like all powered equipment,
reasonable care must be used when
operating this machine.
2. It is the owner’s responsibility to
ensure each user is properly trained
on how to safely operate and use this
piece of equipment.
3. Read the instructions carefully and
understand how to use the controls.
4. Avoid operating this equipment
around bystanders especially children
and animals.
5. The use of personal protective
equipment, such as (but not limited
to) protection for the eyes, ears, feet,
and head is recommended.
6. While operating, always wear
substantial footwear and long
trousers. Do not operate this
equipment while barefoot or with
sandals.
7. Clear the work area around the
stump. The work area should be free
of obstacles and debris.
ENGINE SAFETY
1. DO NOT refuel this equipment while
the engine is running.
2. DO NOT refuel this equipment while
the engine is hot.
3. If you spill fuel during refueling, clean
up the excess fuel, move the unit to
another location while waiting for the
remainder of the fuel to evaporate
prior to starting.
4. DO NOT smoke while filling the gas
tank.
5. Do NOT run the engine in an enclosed
area.
6. DO NOT touch the muffler, engine,
and cooling fins when hot.
7. DO NOT leave the unit running while
unattended.
8. DO NOT over rev the engine. The
maximum RPMs for the engine is:
Subaru –3,600 RPMs
Honda –3,600 RPMs
9. DO NOT operate with grass, leaves,
or other combustible materials near
the muffler.
10. This is just an overview of some
engine safety requirements. Consult
the engine manual for the product
being used for any additional engine
safety information.
OPERATION
1. The stump grinder is designed to
remove ONLY stumps.
2. Remove rocks, debris, and other
foreign objects from the base of the
stump prior to using the machine.
3. To remove a stump, start grinding on
the outside edge of the stump with a
side to side motion.
4. Apply the wheel brake to keep the
unit in one location while going side to
side.

5. Allow the blades to shave the stump.
If the engine stalls, there is too much
downward pressure on the blade.
Allow the machine to do the work.
6. Keep the blades out of the dirt as
much as possible. Dirt, sand, or rocks
will dull the cutting blades.
7. If removing multiple stumps, do the
largest stump first.
8. When chips collect under the machine,
stop the blades, pull the unit back,
and remove the chips so the unit is
easier to move side to side.
9. Start on 1 side of the stump and work
needed to get the desired depth,
finish the first pass before starting the
2nd pass.
CONTROLS
1. To engage the cutting head, squeeze
and hold the left control handle to
engage the cutters. To stop the
cutter, release the handle.
2. To apply the wheel brake, pull the
right control lever back. To release
the brake, push the control lever
forward.
3. The engine should operate at full
throttle which is adjusted on the side
of the engine. See engine label on
the right side for the control function.
4. The handles will fold down for
transporting.
MAINTENANCE
1. Before each days use:
a. Check the teeth for sharpness.
Rotate or replace if needed.
b. Check the teeth to ensure each
one is tight and not damaged.
c. Run the unit and check for any
excessive vibrations.
d. Check and clean the air filter if
needed.
e. Check and
add engine
oil if
needed.
2. As needed or
every rental
replace or rotate
the cutting teeth.
a. To rotate
the tooth:
loosen the
nut and
tap the tooth forward to it can
rotate. Rotate 1/3 of a
revolution and align the locking
surfaces then tighten the tooth.
b. When the tooth needs replaced:
remove the nut and install a
new tooth and nut.
3. Every 100 hours
a. Replace the engine air filter
b. Change the engine oil
c. Check and adjust belt tension if
need.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
