Chapter 2. Get started with yo r Chromebook
Charge yo r Chromebook
The USB-C connec or on your Chromebook works as he power connec or. Plug in he ac power adap er o
charge he buil -in ba ery pack and provide power o he Chromebook.
Connect to ac power
CAUTION:
All pl gs m st be firmly and sec rely inserted into receptacles.
1. Connec he power cord o he ac power adap er.
2. Plug he power adap er in o he USB-C connec or of he Chromebook.
3. Plug he power cord in o an elec rical ou le .

User interface
1. The Launcher bu on Open he search box and App Launcher.
2. App shelf Pin your frequen ly-used app or Web page o he app shelf for easy access.
3. Search box and App Launcher • Type he name of your device, app, or Web page in he search box.
• Open an app quickly from he App Launcher.
4. S a us ray Manage connec ions, upda es, and se ings. By defaul , he ime, ne work
connec ion s a us, ba ery s a us, and your accoun pic ure are displayed.
5. Wallpaper Your wallpaper migh look differen . To change he wallpaper, righ -click a blank
area of your desk op and selec Set Wallpaper.

Connect to Wi-Fi
To connec your Chromebook o Wi-Fi:
1. Click your accoun pic ure.
2. Click he ne work icon and urn on he wireless fea ure.
3. Selec an available ne work o connec . Provide required informa ion if needed.
Get to know YOGA modes
Your compu er display can be ro a ed o any angle up o 360 degrees.
Attention:
• Do no ro a e he compu er display wi h oo much force, or apply oo much force o he upper-righ or
upper-lef corner of he compu er display. O herwise, he compu er display or hinges migh ge damaged.
• The keyboard and he poin ing devices are au oma ically disabled in s and mode, en mode, and able
mode. Use he ouch screen o con rol your compu er ins ead.

Your Chromebook fea ures he following four YOGA modes. You can swi ch among differen modes
according o your preference.

Use the power b tton
When you open he compu er screen, he Chromebook au oma ically s ar s. If i doesn’ , press he power
bu on. You also can use he power bu on o pu your Chromebook o sleep or wake your Chromebook.
The power bu on is on he righ side of he compu er. For de ails, see “Use he special keys” on page 11.

Set the power plan
For ENERGY STAR® complian compu ers, he following power plan akes effec when your compu ers have
been idle for a specified dura ion:

1. Click your accoun pic ure, and hen click he se ings icon.
2. Click Settings ➙ Device ➙ Power.

To wake your Chromebook from sleep mode, press he power bu on or any key on he keyboard.
Use the Nano sec rity-lock slot
Lock your compu er o a desk, able, or o her fix ures hrough a compa ible securi y cable lock.
The slo suppor s cable locks ha conform o he Kensing on NanoSaver® lock s andards using Clea ™
locking echnology. Do no a emp o use o her ypes of cable locks ha use a ro a ing T-bar™ locking
mechanism. You are responsible for evalua ing, selec ing, and implemen ing he locking device and securi y

• Turn off he compu er before cleaning he mul i- ouch screen.
• Use a dry, sof , and lin -free clo h or a piece of absorben co on o remove fingerprin s or dus from he
mul i- ouch screen. Do no apply solven s o he clo h.
• The mul i- ouch screen is a glass panel covered wi h a plas ic film. Do no apply pressure or place any
me allic objec on he screen, which migh damage he ouch panel or cause i o malfunc ion.
• Do no use fingernails, gloved fingers, or inanima e objec s for inpu on he screen.
• Regularly calibra e he accuracy of he finger inpu o avoid a discrepancy.

Your Chromebook keyboard works jus like a conven ional keyboard bu wi h a few special keys.

• When using wo or more fingers, ensure ha you posi ion your fingers sligh ly apar .
• Some ges ures are only available when you are using cer ain apps.
• If he ouchpad surface is s ained wi h oil, urn off he compu er firs . Then, gen ly wipe he ouchpad
surface wi h a sof and lin -free clo h mois ened wi h lukewarm wa er or compu er cleaner.
