Chapter 1. Meet your computer
Front

1 Wi-Fi antennas Send and receive radio aves for the built-in ireless LAN
(local area net ork) and Bluetooth module.
Note: The antennas are not visible from the outside of the
computer. If the location of the antennas is close to the user’s
body (< 20 cm), you can find the Specific Absorption Rate
(SAR) values in the Setup Guide that comes ith your
computer.
2 Microphones Capture or record sound and voice.
3Camera light If the light is on, the camera is in use.
4 Front camera Capture still and moving images for taking photos, recording
videos, and video chatting.
5Screen Display text, graphics, and videos. The screen supports multi-
touch function.

– Off: The computer is turned off or in hibernation mode.
– Slo blinking: The computer is in sleep mode.
• Charging light
– Connected to ac po er:
– Solid hite: The battery capacity is 91%-100%.
– Solid amber: The battery capacity is 1%-90%.
– Not connected to ac po er:
– Solid hite: The battery capacity is 21%-100%.
– Solid amber: The battery capacity is 1%-20%.
• Fingerprint reader light
– Fast blinking hite: The fingerprint reader is starting.
– Solid hite: The fingerprint reader is aiting for you to
scan your fingerprint.

computer into sleep mode.
• Enroll and read your fingerprint for user authentication.

The Lenovo Duet 3 Folio bottom cover and folio cover are fabric. Handle your keyboard ith care so that you

areas.

Chapter 2. Get started with your computer
Work with Windows
The follo ing table contains Windo s frequently used settings. You can learn the basics and start orking
ith Windo s right a ay.
To configure settings, type the corresponding key ords in the Windo s search box and select the best
match. Follo the on-screen instructions to customize settings.

Connect to Wi-Fi

For models ith a ireless LAN module, you can connect your computer to
a Wi-Fi® net ork. Click the net ork icon in the Windo s notification area,
and then select a net ork for connection.
Note: The ireless LAN module on your computer may support different
standards. For some countries or regions, use of 802.11ax may be disabled
according to local regulations.

For models ith an Ethernet (RJ45) connector, you can use an Ethernet
cable to connect your computer to a ired net ork.

Airplane mode Airplane mode is a convenient setting to turn all ireless communications of
your computer on and off. You may need to turn it on hen boarding an
airplane.

Night light mode Night light is a s itch in Windo s that you can turn on and off. When it is
turned on, your screen sho s armer colors and the amount of emitted
blue light is reduced. Enabling night light reduces the chances of developing
eye fatigue or eye strain.

If night light mode is turned on, you can adjust the color temperature of the
screen.
Note: Selected Lenovo computers are lo blue light certified using night
light mode and color temperature settings available in the pre-installed
operating system. These computers are tested ith night light turned on
and color temperature set to 48 or greater.

Updates
Microsoft periodically releases feature and security updates to the Windo s
operating system. Updates that are applicable to your Windo s version are
do nloaded automatically hen your computer is connected to the
Internet. When updates are do nloaded, you are prompted to restart the
computer to install these updates. You can also manually check if there are
available updates for the installed version of Windo s.
Attention: Only use Windo s Update to do nload and install updates.
Updates do nloaded from other sources may include security risks.

• Type Get Help or Tips in the Windo s search box and then press Enter. When the app opens, type the
problem description and select the matched result.
• Visit Microsoft support Web site: https://support.microsoft.com. Enter hat you are looking for in the
search box and get search results.
Lenovo Vantage, Lenovo PC Manager and Lenovo Smart Engine
They are all apps developed by Lenovo. Using any of them, you can:
• Vie product information and system status
• Manage and change device settings
• Check for and perform system updates
Note: This feature is only available on Lenovo Vantage. In Lenovo PC Manager or Lenovo Smart Engine,
you can check for and perform driver updates.
Depending on the country or region in hich your computer is purchased, one of the apps may be pre-
installed on your computer. To open it, type its name in the Windo s Search box and select the matched
result. If none of the apps is pre-installed, you may install one on your o n. Lenovo Vantage is available for
do nload free of charge from the Microsoft Store.
Note: App features are subject to change ith updates and specific features may not be available on all
Lenovo products.
Connect a Bluetooth device
Bluetooth is a short-range ireless communications technology. Use Bluetooth to establish a ireless
connection bet een your computer and another Bluetooth-enabled device ithin a distance of about 10 m
(32.8 ft).
To connect a Bluetooth device using swift pair
Step 1. Turn on the Bluetooth device that supports s ift pair and make it discoverable. For more
information, see the document that comes ith the Bluetooth device.
Step 2. Select Connect hen a s ift pair notification appears that a ne Bluetooth device as found.
To connect a Bluetooth device using conventional pair
If you do not receive the s ift pair notification, you can also do as the follo s to pair a Bluetooth device.
Step 1. Turn on the Bluetooth device and make it discoverable.
Step 2. Select ➙ ➙ Bluetooth & devices ➙ Devices ➙ Add device ➙ Bluetooth. A list of available
Bluetooth devices is displayed.
Step 3. Select the target Bluetooth device and start pairing.
Use the computer with Lenovo Duet 3 Folio com ined (for selected
models)
The Lenovo Duet 3 Folio is referred to as the keyboard in this section.
Combined ith the keyboard, the computer can be used in the follo ing modes:
• Laptop mode

You can use the computer like a laptop.
Step 1. Put the keyboard horizontally.
Step 2. Align the pogo pins of the keyboard ith the computer and attach them.
Step 3. Fold the folio cover and attach the upper section to the computer’s back at an appropriate place.
• Studio mode
Extend or fold up the keyboard so that you can rite and dra ith a Lenovo Digital Pen 3 on the
computer.
Note: Normally, the pogo pins of the computer and the keyboard are disconnected hen the keyboard is
folded up.
Use a pen
Depending on the model, your computer might come ith a pen. The pen enables you to rite and dra in a
natural manner.
You can vie or change the functions of pen buttons in the Lenovo Pen Settings. For more information,
refer to the User Guide of the soft are.
Notes:
• The pen is not aterproof. Take care not to drop the pen in ater.
• The pen contains pressure sensors. Do not push the tip of the pen for an extended period of time. Do not
subject the pen to shock or vibration.
• The default function of each pen button might vary in different apps.
• The Lenovo Pen Settings may be pre-installed on your computer. To open it, enter the soft are name in
Windo s Search and select the matched result. If the soft are is not pre-installed, you can do nload and
install the latest drivers from https://support.lenovo.com.
Before first use
The pen may include an insulation pad to prevent capacity loss during shipping. Before the first time you use
the pen, you need to remove the insulation pad and install the battery as sho n in the picture belo .

Note: AAAA alkaline battery may not be included in some countries and regions.
Use Lenovo Digital Pen 3 (for selected models)
The Lenovo Digital Pen 3 is referred to as the pen in this section.

Interact with your computer (for selected models)
Hotkeys
Look at the top ro of the keyboard of your Lenovo computer and you’ll find keys ith printed icons. These
keys are called hotkeys and they provide shortcuts to functions that you’ll use frequently. The function that
each hotkey provides is denoted by the icon printed on the key.
Hotkeys share keys ith function keys (F1–F12) and other keys. Depending on the FnLock setting, you use
hotkey functions by pressing the key directly or in combination ith the Fn key.
Note: The FnLock s itch does not apply to hotkeys not found in the first ro of the keyboard. To use these
hotkeys, al ays hold do n the Fn key hile pressing the key.

The FnLock switch
The FnLock is an electronic s itch that affects ho you use hotkey functions. To turn it on and off, press Fn
+ Esc.
Note: The Esc key is in the upper left corner of the keyboard. It has an LED that indicates the status of the
FnLock s itch.

A Lenovo keyboard usually contains hotkeys in the top ro . These hotkeys share keys ith the function keys
(F1–F12) and other keys. For these dual-function keys, the icons or characters denoting the primary functions
are printed on top of the icons and characters denoting the secondary functions.
