Failuretodosomightleadtodiscomfortorinjur,orcausethecomputertofail.
Protectyourselromtheheatthatyourcomputergenerates.
Whenourcomputeristurnedonorthebatterischarging,thebase,thepalm
rest,andsomeotherpartsmabecomehot.Thetemperaturethereach
dependsontheamountofsstemactivitandthelevelofchargeinthebatter.
Extendedcontactwithourbod,eventhroughclothing,couldcause
discomfortorevenaskinburn.
•Avoidkeepingourhands,ourlap,oranotherpartofourbodin
contactwithahotsectionofthecomputerforanextendedtime.
•Periodicalltakehandsfromusingthekeboardbliftingourhandsfrom

Donotdrop,bump,scratch,twist,hit,vibrate,push,orplaceheavobjectson

•Donotpackourcomputerinatightlpackedsuitcaseorbag.

Productscanbecomedamagedduetomisuseorneglect.Someproductdamageisseriousenough
thattheproductshouldnotbeusedagainuntilithasbeeninspectedand,inecessary,repairedby
anauthorizedservicer.
Aswithanyelectronicdevice,paycloseattentiontotheproductwhenitisturnedon.Onveryrare
occasions,youmightnoticeanodororseeapuosmokeorsparksventromyourproduct.Oryou
mighthearsoundslikepopping,cracking,orhissing.Theseconditionsmightmerelymeanthatan

Neverwrapapowercordaroundapoweradapterorotherobject.Doingsocanstressthecordin
waysthatcancausethecordtoray,crack,orcrimp.Thiscanpresentasaetyhazard.
Alwaysroutepowercordssothattheywillnotbewalkedon,trippedover,orpinchedbyobjects.
Protectpowercordsandpoweradaptersromliquids.Forinstance,donotleaveyourpowercord
orpoweradapternearsinks,tubs,toilets,oronfloorsthatarecleanedwithliquidcleansers.
Liquidscancauseashortcircuit,particularlyithepowercordorpoweradapterhasbeenstressed

Topreventpossibleoverheating,donotcoverthepoweradapterwithclothingorotherobjects
whenthepoweradapterispluggedintoanelectricaloutlet.
Extensioncordsandrelateddevices
Ensurethatextensioncords,surgeprotectors,uninterruptiblepowersupplies,andpowerstripsthatouuse
areratedtohandletheelectricalrequirementsoftheproduct.Neveroverloadthesedevices.Ifpowerstrips
areused,theloadshouldnotexceedthepowerstripinputrating.Consultanelectricianformoreinformation
ifouhavequestionsaboutpowerloads,powerrequirements,andinputratings.
Plugsandoutlets

Iareceptacle(poweroutlet)thatyouintendtousewithyourcomputerequipmentappearstobe
damagedorcorroded,donotusetheoutletuntilitisreplacedbyaqualifiedelectrician.
Donotbendormodiytheplug.Itheplugisdamaged,contactthemanuacturertoobtain
areplacement.
Donotshareanelectricaloutletwithotherhomeorcommercialappliancesthatdrawlargeamounts
oelectricity;otherwise,unstablevoltagemightdamageyourcomputer,data,orattacheddevices.
Someproductsareequippedwithathree-prongedplug.Thisplugfitsonlyintoagrounded
electricaloutlet.Thisisasaetyeature.Donotdeeatthissaetyeaturebytryingtoinsertitinto
anon-groundedoutlet.Iyoucannotinserttheplugintotheoutlet,contactanelectricianoran
approvedoutletadapterortoreplacetheoutletwithonethatenablesthissaetyeature.Never
overloadanelectricaloutlet.Theoverallsystemloadshouldnotexceed80percentothebranch
