Chapter 1. Meet yo r comp ter
Front
1. Microphones Capture or record sound and voice.
2. Ambient light sensor Detect the surrounding light intensity and adjust the brightness of the
built-in screen accordingly.
Note: To turn off the automatic brightness adjustment, type display
settings in the Windo s search box and then press Enter.
3. Infrared LED Emit infrared light for face authentication.
4. Infrared camera Capture your face images for face authentication.
Note: Use Windo s Hello to enroll your face for face authentication.
5. Camera cover Cover or uncover the camera lens.
Note: The camera cover helps you better protect your privacy.
6. RGB camera Capture still and moving images for taking photos, recording videos,
and video chatting.
7. Camera light If the light is on, the camera is in use.
8. Time of flight (ToF) sensor Detect human presence in front of the computer for facilitating zero
touch and other convenient features.

9. Screen Display text, graphics, and videos. Selected models support multi-
touch function.
10. Wireless antennas Send and receive radio aves for the built-in ireless LAN (local area
net ork) and Bluetooth module.
Notes:
• The antennas are not visible from the outside of the computer.
• If the location of the antennas is close to the user’s body (< 20 cm),
you can find the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values in the Setup
Guide that comes ith your computer.

1. HDMI™ connector Connect to a compatible digital audio device or video monitor, such
as an HDTV.
2. Multi-purpose USB Type-C® connector For Yoga Slim 6 14IAP8 and Yoga Slim 6 14IRP8:
• This multi-purpose connector is Thunderbolt™ 4 enabled. When
connected ith Thunderbolt enabled devices, data transfer may be
established in Thunderbolt mode. It can also be used to connect
display devices and devices that utilize the USB data transfer
technology.
For Yoga Slim 6 14APU8:
• This multi-purpose connector can be used to connect display
devices and devices that utilize the USB data transfer technology.
It also supports USB Po er Delivery.
Note: When connecting display devices, you need to use appropriate
cables and adapters (if needed) according to the connection
capabilities of the display device.
The USB Type-C connector ith a plug icon next to it also
functions as the PC’s po er input connector.

3. Charging light Indicate hether the computer is connected to ac po er.
• Solid hite: connected to ac po er; battery capacity 91%–100%
• Solid amber: connected to ac po er; battery capacity 0%–90%
• Off: not connected to ac po er
4. Multi-purpose USB Type-C connector For Yoga Slim 6 14IAP8 and Yoga Slim 6 14IRP8:
• This multi-purpose connector is Thunderbolt 4 enabled. When
connected ith Thunderbolt enabled devices, data transfer may be
established in Thunderbolt mode. It can also be used to connect
display devices and devices that utilize the USB data transfer
technology.
For Yoga Slim 6 14APU8:
• This multi-purpose connector is USB4® 40 Gbps enabled. When
connected ith a USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 enabled device, data
transfer may be established via a USB4 Link. It can also be used to
connect display devices and devices that utilize the USB data
transfer technology.
Note: When connecting display devices, you need to use appropriate
cables and adapters (if needed) according to the connection
capabilities of the display device.

1. Novo button hole
Press the Novo button to open the Novo B tton menu. From the
menu, you can choose to open the UEFI/BIOS setup utility, the Boot
menu, or the Windo s startup options screen.
2. Po er button Press the button to turn on the computer or put the computer into
sleep mode.
3. Po er light
• On: the computer is turned on.
• Off: the computer is turned off or in hibernation mode.
• Blinking: the computer is in sleep mode.
4. Combo audio jack
Connect headphones or headsets ith a 3.5 mm (0.14 inch), 4-pole
plug.
Note: This jack does not support standalone external microphones. If
you use headsets, choose one ith a single plug.
5. USB (3.2 Gen 1) Type-A connector
(al ays-on)
The al ays-on connector can charge external devices hen the
computer is turned off, in sleep or hibernation mode. The al ays-on
function can be turned on or off in the UEFI/BIOS setup utility.
Note: If Lenovo Vantage is pre-installed on your computer, you can
also set al ays-on function from ithin that soft are.

The follo ing table contains Windo s frequently used settings. You can learn the basics and start orking
ith Windo s right a ay.
To configure settings, type the corresponding key ords in the Windo s search box and select the best
match. Follo the on-screen instructions to customize settings.

For models ith a ireless LAN module, you can connect your computer to
a Wi-Fi® net ork. Click the net ork icon in the Windo s notification area,
and then select a net ork for connection.
Note: The ireless LAN module on your computer may support different
standards. For some countries or regions, use of 802.11ax may be disabled
according to local regulations.

Airplane mode Airplane mode is a convenient setting to turn all ireless communications of
your computer on and off. You may need to turn it on hen boarding an
airplane.

Night light mode Night light is a s itch in Windo s that you can turn on and off. When it is
turned on, your screen sho s armer colors and the amount of emitted
blue light is reduced. Enabling night light reduces the chances of developing
eye fatigue or eye strain.

If night light mode is turned on, you can adjust the color temperature of the
screen.
Note: Selected Lenovo computers are lo blue light certified using night
light mode and color temperature settings available in the pre-installed
operating system. These computers are tested ith night light turned on
and color temperature set to 48 or greater.

Updates
Microsoft periodically releases feature and security updates to the Windo s
operating system. Updates that are applicable to your Windo s version are
do nloaded automatically hen your computer is connected to the
Internet. When updates are do nloaded, you are prompted to restart the
computer to install these updates. You can also manually check if there are
available updates for the installed version of Windo s.
Attention: Only use Windo s Update to do nload and install updates.
Updates do nloaded from other sources may include security risks.

Lenovo Vantage, Lenovo PC Manager and Lenovo Smart Engine
They are apps developed by Lenovo. Using one of them, you can:
• Vie product information and system status
• Manage and change device settings
• Check for and perform system update
Note: This feature is only available on Lenovo Vantage. In Lenovo PC Manager or Lenovo Smart Engine,
you can check for and perform driver update.
Depending on the country or region in hich your computer is purchased, one of the apps may be pre-
installed on your computer. To open it, type its name in the Windo s Search box and select the matched
result. If none of the apps is pre-installed, you may install one on your o n. Lenovo Vantage is available for
do nload free of charge from the Microsoft Store.
Note: App features are subject to change ith updates and specific features may not be available on all
Lenovo products.
The Novo B tton men
The Novo Button menu can be displayed before the operating system starts. From the menu, you can
choose to
• Open the BIOS/UEFI setup utility
• Open the UEFI Diagnostics
• Open the boot device selection menu
• Open the Windo s startup options screen
Note: From the Windo s startup options screen, you can then choose to

For Lenovo computers ith a Novo button, you can press the button to open the Novo Button menu.
Step 1. Turn off the computer.
Step 2. Open the LCD screen and press the Novo button.
Note: Alternatively, turn off the computer. Press Fn and the po er button to open the Novo Button menu.
Interact with yo r comp ter
Hotkeys
Look at the top ro of the keyboard of your Lenovo computer and you’ll find keys ith printed icons. These
keys are called hotkeys and they provide shortcuts to functions that you’ll use frequently. The function that
each hotkey provides is denoted by the icon printed on the key.
Hotkeys share keys ith function keys (F1–F12) and other keys. Depending on the FnLock setting, you use
hotkey functions by pressing the key directly or in combination ith the Fn key.
Note: The FnLock s itch does not apply to hotkeys not found in the first ro of the keyboard. To use these
hotkeys, al ays hold do n the Fn key hile pressing the key.

The FnLock switch
The FnLock is an electronic s itch that affects ho you use hotkey functions. To turn it on and off, press Fn
+ Esc.
Note: The Esc key is in the upper left corner of the keyboard. It has an LED that indicates the status of the
FnLock s itch.

A Lenovo keyboard usually contains hotkeys in the top ro . These hotkeys share keys ith the function keys
(F1–F12) and other keys. For these dual-function keys, the icons or characters denoting the primary functions
are printed on top of the icons and characters denoting the secondary functions.
