1. Infrared LED Emit infrared light for face authentication.
2. Infrared camera • Capture still and moving images for taking photos, recording
videos, and video chatting.
• Detect our bod and head movement to facilitate convenient
features when an external displa is connected. See “Use snap
window” on page 23 and “Use smart pointer” on page 23 for
details.
• Capture our face images for face authentication.
Note: Use Windows Hello to enroll our face for face
authentication.
3. Camera light If the light is on, the camera is in use.
4. Ambient light sensor (ALS) Detect ambient lighting and adjust the brightness of the screen
automaticall . If the ke board backlight is set to a to, it can also be
automaticall adjusted.
Note: Automatic light adjustment for the screen can be turned off in
Windows Settings ➙ Display.
5. Time of flight (ToF) sensor Detect human presence to provide intelligent features. See “Intelligent
features” on page 21 for details.
6. Microphones Capture or record sound and voice.

7. Screen Displa text, graphics, and videos. Selected models support multi-

8. Wireless antennas Send and receive radio waves for the wireless LAN/Bluetooth module.

1. Thunderbolt™ 4 connector • Connect to power with the included power cord and ac power
adapter.
• Connect to a Thunderbolt enabled dock, a USB dock, a USB
storage device, or an external displa .
Note: An appropriate cable is needed according to the t pe of
device ou're connecting. With some connections, ou ma also
need an appropriate adapter. Cables and adapters are not supplied
with the computer.
2. Charging light Indicate the power and batter status of the computer.
3. HDMI™ connector Connect to a compatible digital audio device or video monitor, such
as an HDTV.
Note: Your computer does not include an HDMI cable. You need to
purchase an HDMI cable separatel .
4. Combo audio jack Connect headphones or headsets with a 3.5 mm (0.14 inch), 4-pole
plug.
Note: This jack does not support standalone external microphones. If
ou use headsets, choose one with a single plug.

1. Memor card slot Insert a compatible memor card into the slot for data transfer or
storage.

2. USB (3.2 Gen 1) T pe-A connector Connect to a USB-compatible device, such as a USB ke board, a
USB mouse, a USB storage device, or a USB printer.
3. USB (3.2 Gen 1) T pe-A connector
(alwa s-on)
The alwa s-on connector can charge external devices when the
computer is turned off, in sleep or hibernation mode. The alwa s-on
function can be turned on or off in the UEFI/BIOS setup utilit .
Note: If Lenovo Vantage is pre-installed on our computer, ou can
also adjust the alwa s-on function from within Lenovo Vantage.
4. Power button (with integrated fingerprint
reader*)
Press the button to turn on the computer or put the computer into
sleep mode.
Note: B default, Flip to Boot is enabled. Flipping the screen cover
open turns on the computer. You can also disable Flip to Boot in the
UEFI/BIOS setup utilit .
To turn off the computer, open the Start menu, select Power, and
then select Sh t down.
The light near the power button shows the s stem status of our
computer.

1. Novo button hole
Press the Novo button to open the Novo B tton menu. From the
menu, ou can choose to open the UEFI/BIOS setup utilit , the Boot
menu, or the Windows startup options screen.
Note: You will need a pin or paperclip to press the Novo B tton.

Depending on man factors such as the processing capabilit of the host and peripheral devices, file

Get started with Windows 10
Learn the basics of Windows 10 and start working with it right awa . For more information about Windows
10, see the Windows help information.
Windows acco nt
You must create at least one account to use the Windows operating s stem. It can be either a local account
or a Microsoft account.
Local acco nts
A local account is created on a particular Windows-enabled device and it can onl be used on that device. It
is recommended that ou set a password for each local account to prevent unauthorized access to the
device.
Microsoft acco nts
A Microsoft account is a user account that ou use to sign in to Microsoft software and services. If ou use
Microsoft services like OneDrive, Outlook.com, Xbox Live, Office 365, and Sk pe, ou might alread have
one. If ou don't have it, ou can create one for free.
There are two main benefits of using a Microsoft account:
• Sign in onl once. If ou use a Microsoft account to sign in to Windows 10, ou don’t need to sign in again
to use OneDrive, Sk pe, Outlook.com, and other Microsoft services.
• Settings can be s nced. If ou use our Microsoft account to sign in to multiple Windows-enabled
devices, certain Windows settings can be s nced among the devices.
Switch between a local and a Microsoft acco nt
If ou are using a local account to sign in to Windows 10, ou can switch to use a Microsoft account instead.
Step 1. Open the Start menu and select Settings ➙ Acco nts.
Step 2. Select Sign in with a Microsoft acco nt instead.
Step 3. If ou alread have a Microsoft account, enter the account name and password to sign in.
Otherwise, select Create one to create a new Microsoft account.
Note: The device must have Internet access the first time ou use a Microsoft account on that
device.
If ou want to switch back to use a local account, open the Start menu and select Settings ➙ Acco nts ➙
Sign in with a local acco nt instead.
Add additional ser acco nts
Your user account must be of the “Administrator” t pe to add additional user accounts to Windows.
Add additional user accounts if ou need to share our computer with famil members or other users.
Step 1. Open the Start menu and select Settings ➙ Acco nts ➙ Family & other sers.
Step 2. Select Add someone else to this PC.

Note: To add famil members, ou need to sign in with a Microsoft account.
Step 3. Set the user name and password for the user account.
Set p face recognition
If our computer includes a Windows Hello-compatible infrared camera, ou can set up face recognition to
sign in with our face.
Step 1. Open the Start menu and select Settings ➙ Acco nts ➙ Sign-in options.
Note: If ou are using a local account, the account must be password protected. Otherwise, ou
cannot set face recognition.
Step 2. Under Manage how yo sign in to yo r device, select Windows Hello Face ➙ Set p ➙ Get
started.
Step 3. Follow on-screen instructions to complete face recognition. Create a PIN when prompted, in case
face recognition does not work at Windows sign-in.
Enroll yo r fingerprint
If our computer includes a fingerprint reader, ou can enroll our fingerprint for Windows sign-in.
Step 1. Open the Start menu and select Settings ➙ Acco nts ➙ Sign-in options.
Note: If ou are using a local account, the account must be password protected. Otherwise, ou
cannot enroll fingerprints.
Step 2. Select Windows Hello Fingerprint ➙ Set p ➙ Get started.
Step 3. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the enrollment. Create a PIN when prompted, in case
our fingerprint cannot be recognized at Windows sign-in.
Note: You can enroll more than one fingerprint.

Windows desktop
1. Acco nt Change account settings, lock the computer, or sign out of the
current account.
2. Doc ments Open the Doc ments folder, a default folder to save our received
files.
3. Pict res Open the Pict res folder, a default folder to save our received
pictures.
4. Settings Open Settings.
5. Power Shut down, restart, or put the computer into sleep mode.
6. Start b tton Open the Start menu.
7. Windows Search Enter what ou are looking for in the search box and get search
results from our computer and the Web.
8. Task View Displa all opened apps and switch between them.
9. Windows notification area Displa notifications and status of some features.
10. Battery stat s icon Displa power status and change batter or power settings.
11. Network icon Connect to an available wireless network and displa the network
status.
12. Action center Displa the latest notifications from apps and provide quick access to
some features.
Open the Start men
• Click the Start button.
• Press the Windows logo ke on the ke board.
Open Control Panel
• Open the Start menu and select Windows System ➙ Control Panel.

• Use Windows Search.
Open an app
• Open the Start menu and select the app ou want to open.
• Use Windows Search.
Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo PC Manager
Lenovo Vantage and Lenovo PC Manager is software developed b Lenovo. Using the software, ou can:
• View product information
• View warrant and support information
• Run hardware scan and diagnose problems
• Change hardware settings
• Update Windows, drivers, and UEFI/BIOS
Lenovo Vantage or PC Manager ma be pre-installed on our computer. To open it, enter the software name
in Windows Search and select the matched result.
Note: If Lenovo Vantage is not pre-installed, ou can download it from Microsoft Store.
Connect to networks
Your computer helps ou connect to the world through a wired or wireless network.
Connect to Wi-Fi networks
If our computer includes a wireless LAN module, ou can connect our computer to Wi-Fi® networks. The
wireless LAN module on our computer ma support different standards. For some countries or regions, use
of 802.11ax ma be disabled according to local regulations.
Step 1. Click the network icon in the Windows notification area. A list of nearb networks is displa ed.
Note: If no network is displa ed, check to ensure that the airplane mode is not turned on.
Step 2. Select a network and click Connect. Provide securit ke if prompted.
Note: The network ke is usuall managed b the network administrator.
Forget a Wi-Fi network
Windows saves a list of Wi-Fi networks ou have connected to, along with their passwords and other
settings. B doing this, our computer is automaticall connected when it is in the range of a previousl
connected network. However, if the network password has been changed, ou need to forget the network in
order to enter a new password.
Step 1. Select Start ➙ Settings ➙ Network & Internet ➙ Wi-Fi.
Step 2. Click Manage known networks.
Step 3. Click the network name and click Forget.
T rn airplane mode on and off
Airplane mode is a convenient setting to turn all wireless communications of our computer on and off. You
ma need to turn it on when boarding an airplane.
