Screen orientation
Youcan rotate the display panel to your preferred orientation.
The orientation of the display automatically changes (alternatingbetween portrait and
landscape modes) dependingon how youhold it.

Using a micro SD card (not supplied)
Your computer supports micro Secure Digital (SD) cards.
Inserting a card
1 Open the card slotcover.
2 Slide the card in until it clicks into place.
Removing a card
1 Push the card in until youhear a click.
2 Gently pull the memory card out of the slot.
3 Close the card slotcover.
Volume up button Increases volume level.
Volume down button Decreases volume level.
Built-in microphone Captures sound which can be used for video conferencing, voice
narration, or audio recording.
Micro SD card slot Accepts a micro SD card (notsupplied).
SIM card slot (on
select models)
Accepts a SIM card (notsupplied).
Micro HDMI port Connects to devices with HDMI inputs, such as a TV, or an
external display.
AC power adapter
jack
Connects to the AC power adapter .
Notes:
•Insertonly one card into the slotata time.
•This card reader does notsupportSDIO devices (e.g., SDIO Bluetooth, etc.).
Note: Before removingthe memory card, disable it by usingthe Windows safely remove hardware and
ejectmedia utility to avoid data corruption.

Power button When the computer is off, youcan:
• Press and release this button to show the currentcharge ( )
on the screen. Itwill turn off 10 seconds later.
• Press this button for three seconds to turn on the computer.
When the computer is on, youcan:
• Press this button to turn on/off the backlightof the LCD screen.
Combo audio jack Connects to headsets.
Notes:
•The combo audio jack does notsupportconventional microphones.
•The recordingfunction mightnotbe supported if third-party headphones or headsets are connected,
due to differentindustry standards.
Note: Use only one of the followingconnectors ata time.
Folio case connector Connects the tabletto the folio case.
Micro USB port Connects to USB devices.

Keyboard function keys
Youcan access certain system settings by pressingthe appropriate function keys.
:Mutes/unmutes the sound. :Enables/disables Airplane
mode.
:Decreases the volume level. :Displays all currently active
apps.
:Increases the volume level. :Turns on/off the backlightof
the LCD screen.
:Closes the currently active
window. :
Toggles the display between the
computer and an external
device.
:Refreshes the desktop or the
currently active window. :Decreases the display brightness.
:Displays the Settings charm. :Increases the display
brightness.
Note: The display panel can be opened 115±2.5 degrees when the tabletis combined with the folio case.

Combination of tablet and folio case
Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 10 is notonly a tablet. Itcan be combined with a folio case and used as a
notebook computer.
Attaching the tablet
To connectthe tabletto the folio case:
1 Align the connector of the folio case with the tabletin the direction shown by arrow .
2 Guide the tabletin the direction shown by arrows and then snap into place.

To remove the tabletfrom the folio case:
1 Press the top corners of the folio case in the direction shown by arrows and .

Configuring the operating system for the first time ---------------
Youmightneed to configure the operatingsystem when it is firstused. The configuration
process can include the procedures below:
•Acceptingthe end user license agreement
•Configuringthe internetconnection
•Registeringthe operatingsystem
•Creatinga user account
Operating system interfaces ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Windows 8 comes with two main User Interfaces: the Startscreen and the desktop.
To switch from the Startscreen to the desktop, do one of the following:
•Selectthe desktop tile on the Startscreen.
• Press the Windows key ( ) + D (located on the folio case).
To switch from the desktop to the Startscreen, do one of the following:
•SelectStart from the charms.
•Mo
ve the pointer to the lower-leftcorner and then selectthe Startscreen thumbnail when it is
displayed.

The five charms provide new and faster ways to perform many basic tasks, and are always
available regardless of which app youare currently in.
To display the charms, do one of the following:
•Move the pointer to the upper-rightor lower-rightcorner until the charms bar is displayed.
•Useonefinger to swipe in from the rightedge of the screen until the charms bar is displayed.
• Press the Windows key ( ) + C (located on the folio case).
Search charm
The Search charm is a powerful new way to find whatever youare lookingfor, includingapps,
settings, and files.

Share charm
The Share charm enables youto send links, photos, and more to your friends and social
networks without leavingthe app youare in.
Start charm
The Start charm is a way to go to the Startscreen.
Devices charm
The Devicescharm enables youto connector send files to any external devices, such as digital
cameras, TVs, or printers.
Settings charm
The Settings charm enables youto perform basic tasks, such as settingthe volume or shutting
down the computer. Also, youcan getto the Control Panel through the Settings charm when
usingthe desktop screen.

Putting the computer to sleep or shutting it down -------------------
When youhave finished workingwith your computer, youcan put it to sleep or shut it down.
Putting your computer to sleep
If youwill be away from your computer briefly, put the computer to sleep.
When the computer is in sleep mode, youcan quickly wake it to resume use, bypassingthe
startup process.
To put the computer to sleep, do one of the following:
• Press the Power button.
•Openthe charms and then selectSettings Power Sleep.
To wake the computer, do one of the following:
• Press any key on the keyboard (located on the folio case).
• Press the Power button.
• Press the Windows button.

Shutting down the computer
If youare notgoingto use your computer for a longtime, shut it down.
To shut down your computer:
1 Open the charms, and then selectSettings .
2 SelectPower Shut down.

Touch screen operation ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The display panel can acceptinputs like a tablet, usingthe multi-touch screen, or like a
traditional notebook computer, usingthe keyboard and touch pad.
Multi-touch gestures
Youcan touch the screen with one or more fingertips to perform a variety of tasks.
Frequently used gestures Tasks performed
Tap
Tap once on an item.
Performs an action, such as startingan
app, openinga link, or performinga
command. Similar to left-clickingwith a
mouse.
Press and hold
Press your finger down and leave it there for a
moment.
Enables youto see detailed information
before selectingan action. Can also open a
menuwith more options. Similar to right-
clickingwith a mouse.

Zoom
Move two fingers together or apartwhile
touchingthe screen.
Zooms in and out on visual apps, such as
pictures and maps. Can also jump to the
beginningor end of a list.
Rotate
Place two or more fingers on an item and then
turn your hand.
Rotates an object(Note: Notall items can
be rotated, dependingupon the app.).
Slide
Dragyour finger across the screen.
Pans or scrolls through lists and pages.
Can also move an objector be used to
draw or write, dependingupon the app.
Similar to pressingand holdingto pan
and to scrollingwith a mouse.
